Chapter 224 Uninvited Guest

Chapter 224 Uninvited Guest

"That's enough." Yueqing's voice wasn't loud, but it clearly pierced through the rumble of the boulder hitting the ground and reached Yinhu's ears.

The man was bending down to drag another boulder when he heard this, he paused, turned around, and sweat dripped down his chiseled jawline, hitting the scorching ground and evaporating instantly.

"What did you say?" His voice was hoarse from exhaustion and thirst, as if it had been sanded.

"I've said enough, Silver Tiger."

Yueqing repeated herself, took a few steps forward, stood in front of him, and looked up at him. The sunlight was blinding, forcing her to squint. "This wall is high enough."

He followed her gaze and glanced back at the stone wall that was already taking shape, then turned back to look at her, his brows furrowed: "Not safe enough."

“That’s enough for me.” Yueqing interrupted him, her gaze falling on his arm covered in scratches and cuts. “If you keep moving, do you even want your arm anymore?”

Silver Tiger was stunned.

He looked down at his arms, where blood was seeping from the cuts made by the sharp edges of the stones, mixed with sweat and dust, making them look somewhat gruesome.

But he didn't feel anything at all.

He just didn't expect that when she said "enough," she wasn't referring to the wall, but to him.

"Are you worried about me?" he asked, his tone carrying a hint of uncertainty that he himself didn't realize.

"Nonsense." Yueqing rolled her eyes at him, annoyed. This man was sometimes frighteningly smart, and sometimes so stupid that you wanted to pry open his brain to see if it was filled with stone.

She turned and went back into the cave, her voice drifting out from inside: "Come here, let me treat your wounds."

Silver Tiger stood there, like a big, dumb guy frozen in place, watching the petite figure disappear into the cave entrance.

After a long while, he threw away the vines in his hand and followed them inside with heavy steps.

Inside the cave, Yueqing had already prepared clean animal hides and fresh water.

In her previous life, she was a doctor, so treating this kind of external injury was a piece of cake for her.

"Sit down." She pointed to the stone stool next to her.

Silver Tiger sat down as instructed, his tall figure instantly making the space inside the cave seem somewhat cramped.

He watched as Yueqing carefully wiped the dirt off his arm with the damp animal hide. Her movements were gentle, carrying a tenderness he had never experienced before.

His muscles involuntarily tensed when the cool herbal paste was applied to the wound.

"Does it hurt?" Yueqing looked up and asked.

"It doesn't hurt," he replied curtly.

Yueqing pursed her lips and loosened her grip even more: "You're stubborn as a mule."

Silver Tiger didn't speak, he just looked at her. The sunlight from outside the cave slanted in, giving her a fuzzy golden edge, and even her long, drooping eyelashes were clearly visible.

“Yueqing,” he suddenly said.

"Um?"

"I'm not going to build the wall anymore."

Yueqing paused in her work, looked up, and stared at him in surprise.

She thought she would have to argue a lot, but he gave in so easily.

“You’re right,” Silver Tiger looked into her eyes and said each word with utmost seriousness, “A cage can also trap us.”

He actually listened to her. He actually broke down her words in detail to understand them, and then made changes.

Yueqing felt as if a warm hand was gently grasping her heart, and that tender, aching feeling welled up again.

She lowered her head and continued what she was doing, trying to hide her slightly reddened eyes.

"What about the wall? Is it just going to stay here half-finished?" she asked deliberately in a casual tone.

Silver Tiger paused for a moment, seemingly deep in thought. "Leave the door open."

"Door?"

"Hmm, I'll find another flat stone to block the gap. We can push it aside when we come in and out," he planned earnestly.

Yueqing was amused by his serious expression, and the initial emotion she felt faded, leaving her with only a wry smile.

This man's thought process is definitely straightforward.

Using a boulder weighing several hundred kilograms as a door? How could he even think of that?

"Fine, you're strong, you decide." She said dismissively, helping him apply the last bit of ointment.

After treating his wounds, Silver Tiger didn't go out again. Instead, he sat at the cave entrance and began whittling wood.

He was making a wooden tub for his daughter to bathe in. Meanwhile, Yueqing was preparing lunch by the stove. The antelope meat was cut into small pieces and stewed in a clay pot with freshly picked mushrooms. The aroma soon filled the entire cave.

The daughter woke up and was walking unsteadily, leaning against the cave wall, making "ee-ee-ya-ya" sounds.

Yin Hu stopped what he was doing, turned around and looked at his daughter with a tenderness he had never shown before.

As Yueqing watched this scene, the system in her mind called "Xiaoqing" was unusually quiet today, not uttering a single sound.

She suddenly felt that perhaps she could try talking to this man who only knew how to use brute force about the future. Not the "future" in the system mission, but a real future that belonged to the three of them.

The night was like a thick black cloth, covering the entire cave completely.

Only the central bonfire was still crackling, dutifully radiating light and heat.

Silver Tiger sat cross-legged by the fire, holding a piece of fine birch wood in his hand, whittling something with a sharp stone shard. His large hands, which had torn apart countless beasts on the battlefield, were now unusually steady, and amidst the flying wood chips, the outline of a small wooden bird had already appeared.

Le Qing leaned against the side, watching the firelight dance on his angular face, softening his resolute profile.

The son was fast asleep, his small body nestled in the soft animal skin, breathing evenly.

Everything was as quiet as a painting.

Just then, the daughter, who had been sitting obediently in Yueqing's lap and playing with her toes, suddenly stopped.

She raised her head, her chubby little finger pointing to the dark hole, and uttered a few words in her childish voice:

"Big cat... I'm scared..."

Silver Tiger's hand, which was carving wood, suddenly stopped, and the little bird that was about to be completed fell to the ground with a "thud".

The smile on Yueqing's face froze instantly.

The two seemed to have been paused, their movements stiff, inch by inch, as they turned their heads toward the bottomless hole.

The warm firelight illuminated only a small area inside the cave; further away, there was an impenetrable darkness.

In that darkness, two eerie green lights suddenly lit up without warning.

The light was devoid of any warmth, like a ghostly fire rising from the depths of hell—cold and malevolent.

Then, a massive, suffocating silhouette silently emerged from the shadows.

It moved very slowly, each step feeling like it was stepping on a person's heartbeat, heavy and oppressive.

Its strong muscle lines were faintly visible in the firelight, and its entire body was covered with a layer of glossy fur.
