Chapter 747 Mechanical Beast
The surrounding mechanical beasts, having lost their command, began to move slowly and become sluggish.
Tiger Rock and Tiger Roar seized the opportunity and led their people in a counterattack. One mechanical wolf after another was torn to pieces, and black engine oil was spilled all over the square.
Silver Tiger walked to the edge of the fire, raised his long sword, and prepared to deliver the final blow to the monster.
However, at that moment, Elder Xue suddenly stopped struggling.
He lay in the flames, his single eye fixed on Yueqing, a strange smile playing on his lips.
"You think... this is how you win?"
On his chest, the purple crystal began to flash rapidly, the frequency increasing, and the sound it emitted changed from a low hum to a sharp shriek.
Yueqing's pupils suddenly contracted.
As a doctor, she was all too familiar with that sound. It was the alarm from the electrocardiogram monitor.
As a time traveler, she was more familiar with this kind of flickering.
That was a sign of impending self-destruction.
###Chapter 26 Silent Signal
"run!"
Yueqing screamed, her voice becoming shrill with extreme fear.
"He's going to explode! Everyone! Spread out!"
Yin Hu reacted extremely quickly; he scooped up Yue Qing and turned to run wildly into the distance.
But Elder Xue did not explode on the spot.
The tattered mechanical body suddenly sprang into the air, the thrusters on its back spewing out the last bit of fuel, propelling it like a burning meteor into the depths of the tribe.
That direction...
Yueqing's blood froze instantly.
That was the entrance to the shelter.
That was where the children hid.
"No!"
Yueqing struggled desperately in his arms, crying, "Put me down! The child! He's aiming for the child!"
Silver Tiger's expression changed as well. He gritted his teeth and increased his speed to the limit, leaving a long trail of golden light in his wake on the snow.
But he was fast, and that monster who was determined to die was even faster.
Elder Xue's goal was clear. Since he couldn't obtain the core, and since he couldn't kill these two people, he would destroy what they valued most.
Just as Elder Xue was about to crash into the heavy stone door of the shelter, a childish voice suddenly rang out on the battlefield.
No, that wasn't a sound.
It's a kind of vibration that acts directly on the brain.
It sounded like the buzzing of an old-fashioned radio when it was being interfered with, or like some kind of high-frequency signal wave.
Elder Xue, who was sprinting at high speed, suddenly froze for a moment.
The crystal on his chest, which was about to explode, flickered out of rhythm.
At the entrance of the shelter, a small figure emerged from nowhere.
It's a son.
He didn't hide inside.
He stood before the stone gate, his usually somewhat dull eyes now emitting a faint purple light. He stretched out a small hand, palm facing the oncoming fireball.
No energy waves were emitted.
But the mechanical parts on Elder Xue's body began to repel and vibrate each other as if they had gone mad. The flames of the thrusters flared up and down, and the servo motors at the joints emitted a piercing friction sound.
"interference……"
Elder Xue's synthesized voice became intermittent, filled with terror, "This...this is...source...code..."
He fell hard to the ground when he was less than ten meters away from his son.
Inertia carried him along the snow, leaving a charred trail, until he finally came to a stop at his son's feet.
But the self-destruct program inside his body did not stop.
The crystal was so bright that it was impossible to look directly at it; destructive energy was being compressed and collapsed within it.
Interference can only delay, not reverse.
"Son! Run!"
Yueqing finally broke free from Yinhu's arm and stumbled toward the small figure.
Too close.
It's too late.
Elder Xue let out a venomous laugh: "Let's die together!"
A burst of light erupted.
Yueqing desperately reached out, trying to grab the child.
The world seemed to slow down at that moment. She saw the bewildered expression on her son's face, the figure of the silver tiger pouncing towards her, and the white light that was about to devour everything.
Just a second before this destruction was about to occur.
The sky darkened.
There was no sound of wind.
Only a suffocating fishy smell and a heavy, oppressive feeling descended from the sky.
The enormous black shadow blocked out all the light, even the white light emanating from Elder Xue was enveloped within it.
A gaping maw, with two sharp, curved tusks like ivory, appeared without warning above the son's head.
It's not aimed at children.
It bit down on the ball of light on the ground that was about to explode—Elder Snow.
"Crack!"
That was the sound of metal, bone, and crystal shattering simultaneously.
Immediately afterwards, the enormous creature suddenly raised its head and let out an extremely deep sound from its throat.
"Gulp."
It swallowed it.
"boom!"
A muffled thud exploded inside its belly.
Its enormous body trembled violently, its abdomen bulging out suddenly before quickly deflating. Wisps of black smoke billowed from its nostrils and mouth, carrying a burnt smell.
It let out a burp.
The world is quiet.
All the mechanical beasts stopped moving at that moment, the red light in their eyes went out, and they fell to the ground like a pile of scrap metal.
Yueqing collapsed to the ground, panting heavily, her heart pounding as if it would jump out of her throat.
She looked up at the giant beast standing at the entrance of the shelter.
Its body was as large as a small mountain, with black stripes covering its tawny fur, and its two signature long fangs gleamed coldly in the dim light.
Saber-toothed tiger.
The prehistoric behemoth that she had saved and which later mysteriously disappeared.
It lowered its head, bringing its enormous head close to its son, and extended its barbed tongue, gently—even so gently it almost knocked the child over—licking his face.
The son blinked, the purple light in his eyes fading, returning to its clear state. He reached out his little hand and touched the saber-toothed tiger's wet nose.
“Big cat,” he said.
The saber-toothed tiger made a gurgling sound in its throat, as if responding or perhaps being affectionate.
Silver Tiger walked to Yueqing's side and helped her up. His gaze was filled with complex emotions as he looked at the giant beast. As a member of the tiger clan, he felt a sense of oppression from the depths of his bloodline when facing this ancient ancestor, but more than anything, he felt a sense of relief at surviving a calamity.
"It's back," Silver Tiger whispered.
Yueqing nodded, and tears finally streamed down her face. She rushed over and hugged her son tightly, as if she wanted to meld him into her very bones.
"You scared Mommy to death... You scared Mommy to death..."
Her son let her hold him, patted her back with his little hand, and said like a little adult, "Don't be afraid."
The crisis is over.
The tribesmen slowly gathered around, their eyes filled with awe as they looked at the mechanical wreckage scattered on the ground and the giant beast licking its paws.
Yue Qing calmed himself down and walked up to the saber-toothed tiger.
"Thank you." She reached out and gently placed her hand on its thick foreleg.
The saber-toothed tiger glanced at her, its eyes carrying a hint of human-like disdain, as if to say: "You've made such a mess of such a small thing."
