Chapter 106 Frustration

Standing at the doorway of the main room, watching Lin Qinghuan's joyful laughter, Lin's father felt a mix of emotions.

Lin Qinghuan turned around and saw her father. Her laughter stopped abruptly. Suppressing her embarrassment, she smiled at her father and said, "Dad, you're home!"

Mr. Lin gave a soft "hmm," which was his way of agreeing to Lin Qinghuan's request.

"Dad, you go ahead with your work, I'm going back to my room to read." Lin Qinghuan said as she went back to her room.

As soon as Lin Qinghuan entered the room, she saw Lin Piaoxue holding a mirror, looking at herself with a troubled expression.

Lin Qinghuan knew that Lin Piaoxue must be worried about the sunspots on her face.

When Lin Piaoxue saw Lin Qinghuan return, she slammed the mirror on the table with a "bang".

Lin Qinghuan looked at the broken mirror, a gloating smile flashing in her beautiful eyes.

If she wasn't mistaken, that was Lin's mother's mirror. If Lin's mother saw the broken mirror, she would be heartbroken.

"Sister, you don't need to worry about the sunspots on your face. So many men admire you, there's bound to be one who doesn't care about your appearance and truly loves you."

"I don't want to hear you speak right now, so shut up!" Lin Piaoxue snapped.

Lin Qinghuan sat on the bed, leaned against the headboard, and said with a smile, "Since you're ignoring my good intentions, then I won't say anything more."

Lin Piaoxue looked at Lin Qinghuan's fair and delicate skin and felt very jealous.

That brat, she's changed so much after not working for a while. Unlike her, she's so sensitive to the sun, she gets tanned so easily, and now she even has sunspots.

Why is it that even though they were born to the same mother, she didn't have such good luck?

Lin Qinghuan ignored the resentful look Lin Piaoxue gave her and picked up a book to read. However, when she thought of Wei Xiao, her mind was filled with him, and she couldn't concentrate on the book. She put the book down and fell into deep thought.

Lin Piaoxue walked out of the room and saw her mother cooking. Her eyes lit up and an idea came to her.

She walked to Lin's mother's side and said with heartache, "Mom, you have to do all the work inside and outside the house by yourself. You've worked so hard."

"It's alright, I'm used to it," Lin's mother said with a smile.

Lin Piaoxue's eyes flickered, and then she said casually, "Mom, Qinghuan stays at home all day, why don't you ask her to lend a hand?"

Lin's mother looked displeased: "Your father won't let me ask that wretched girl to do any work."

Lin's mother also wanted Lin Qinghuan to do chores, but Lin's father absolutely refused, so what could she do?

"Sigh!" Lin Piaoxue sighed and said helplessly, "Qinghuan is really something, she doesn't care about you at all. If other girls didn't do chores, their legs would have been broken long ago."

As soon as Lin Piaoxue finished speaking, Lin's mother realized what was going on and looked at Lin Piaoxue with a complicated expression.

Lin Piaoxue's heart tightened, and she asked nervously, "Mom, why did you look at me like that?"

"What do you think?" Lin's mother asked in return.

"I didn't know, that's why I asked you!" Lin Piaoxue said, feigning ignorance.

Lin's mother sighed and said, "Piaoxue, you are my child, and I know what you're thinking. But the Lin family has to rely on Qinghuan in everything right now, so you'd better keep your thoughts to yourself."

Lin's mother bluntly exposed Lin Piaoxue's wicked intentions, thwarting Lin Piaoxue's evil scheme.

Lin Piaoxue forced herself to say, "Mom, I just feel sorry for you, but if you insist on misunderstanding me, there's nothing I can do."

After Lin Piaoxue finished speaking, she turned around and went back to her room.

Lin's mother sighed, went into the kitchen, and began washing rice and cooking.

Lin Piaoxue kicked open the door with a loud bang.

Lin Qinghuan opened her eyes and looked towards the doorway. She saw Lin Piaoxue walking into the room with a gloomy face and heavy steps.

Is Lin Piaoxue out of her mind? Why is she so angry?

Seeing Lin Qinghuan looking at her with a puzzled expression, Lin Piaoxue glared at Lin Qinghuan unhappily and sat on the bed sulking.

Lin Qinghuan rolled her eyes. "Crazy!"

Lin's mother was busy in the kitchen, her resentment growing stronger. That wretched girl, Lin Qinghuan, was working herself to the bone without offering any help. She had no conscience at all.

After preparing the meal, Lin's mother went to feed the chickens, and then to feed the pigs. Seeing that the yard was dirty, she had no choice but to take a broom and sweep it.

Lin's father and his three brothers, Lin Qing, entered the courtyard and asked their mother, "Is the food ready?"

Lin's mother suppressed her anger and said in a stiff tone, "It's done."

Lin's father and mother had shared a bed for over twenty years, so how could he not see that Lin's mother was angry? But he saw through it but didn't say anything. Instead, he said to the three Lin brothers, "Wash your hands and eat."

Lin Qing washed her hands and called out towards Lin Piaoxue's room, "Piaoxue, dinner's ready."

Hearing Lin Qing's words, Lin Piaoxue looked at Lin Qinghuan triumphantly and said boastfully, "Big brother called me to dinner."

"Oh! I heard that," Lin Qinghuan said nonchalantly.

Seeing that Lin Qinghuan didn't seem to care at all, Lin Piaoxue walked out of the room, feeling bored.

Lin Qinghuan followed closely behind Lin Piaoxue, curling her lip in disdain. What a load of rubbish! She wasn't the original owner of this body. She treated Lin Qing as her brother. In Lin Qinghuan's eyes, Lin Qing was practically a stranger.

As soon as Lin Qinghuan entered the kitchen, her mother glared at her fiercely. Lin Qinghuan seemed not to notice her mother's expression, calmly scooped up the rice, and sat down at the table to eat.

Lin's mother was even angrier when she saw that Lin Qinghuan was treating her like air.

Lin's father saw everything, his eyes dimmed, but he said nothing. He lowered his head, took a sip of wine, and looked at the stir-fried cowpeas, but had no appetite at all.

"Qinghuan, go get a bowl of pickled cabbage to eat with rice," Lin's father instructed Lin Qinghuan.

Lin Qinghuan filled a large bowl with pickled cabbage, sprinkled some chili, salt, and soy sauce on it, chopped two cloves of garlic and put them in, then saw some scallions in the basket, washed a few scallions, chopped them finely, put them in the bowl and mixed them well before placing them in front of herself and her father.

Lin's father couldn't wait to pick up a piece with his chopsticks and put it in his mouth. His eyes lit up. It tasted good!

Lin Qinghuan picked up a piece of pickled cabbage with her chopsticks and put it in her mouth. Her eyes narrowed slightly. As expected of pickled cabbage made from old green vegetables, it was really chewy.

Seeing how happily Lin Qinghuan and her father were eating, Lin Piaoxue reached for the sauerkraut bowl with her chopsticks.

The three Lin brothers also unceremoniously picked up the colorful, fragrant, and delicious pickled cabbage with their chopsticks.

Seeing this, Lin Qinghuan and her father picked up two large chopsticks of pickled cabbage and put them into their bowls. Although pickled cabbage wasn't very filling, it was still better than stir-fried cowpeas that were yellow and oilless.

Mr. Lin looked at Mrs. Lin and said, "Next time you cook, put more oil in the dishes. Don't be so stingy, or you won't have the energy to do chores."

"Is oil free? You think you can just add more whenever you want?" Lin's mother said loudly.

His voice was laced with resentment.

Lin Qinghuan was stunned by her mother's outburst and almost burst out laughing.

Seeing Lin Qinghuan's barely suppressed laughter, Lin's father looked at Lin's mother with displeasure, "Who are you yelling at? Do you think I'm incompetent? You can go find someone capable now and live a good life. I just don't know if anyone will still want you."

Lin Ming blurted out, "No one will want her, she's so old."

Lin Qinghuan almost applauded Lin Ming, for what he said was so true.
