Lin Qinghuan's words struck a chord with Lin's mother and the three Lin brothers, who looked at Lin Qinghuan with full agreement. Compared to money, integrity was nothing; they chose money.
Lin Piaoxue almost applauded Lin Qinghuan. Her dream was to live a life of wealth and luxury, and now that it was within her grasp, how could she possibly give it up? As long as she was given money, she would kneel down and call the old woman her ancestor right now.
Lin Piaoxue walked up to her father and gently advised, "Dad, Grandpa hasn't come back for so many years, he must have had his reasons. We should give him a chance to explain."
Looking at the old man standing in front of him, dressed in a sharp suit and with shiny black leather shoes that reflected his image, Lin's father curled his lip and thought, "At his age, he still dresses so ostentatiously."
Lin Qinghuan said to Lin Ming, "You, go and call your uncle over quickly. Tell him that his father has returned to his hometown in glory and ask him to come and see him. Also, bring Grandma's memorial tablet so that Grandpa can meet his first wife."
After hearing Lin Qinghuan's words, Lin's father gave her an approving look. As expected of the smartest child in the Lin family, she thought of everything so thoroughly.
"Why do I have to go?" Lin Ming muttered in dissatisfaction.
Seeing that Lin Ming was standing still, Lin's father vented his anger on Lin Ming, and shouted, "Hurry up and go! If you keep dawdling, I'll break your legs!"
Lin Qinghuan ran to the eaves, picked up a twig about the size of a finger, and stuffed it into her father's hand, urging, "Dad, use a small twig to hit him; it'll hurt the skin but not the bone."
Lin Ming was so angry he jumped up and down, "Lin Qinghuan, you heartless brat!"
Lin Qinghuan nudged her father and urged, "Dad, go, hit him, hit him hard."
Lin's father picked up a tree branch and started whipping Lin Ming, cursing as he did so: "I told you to call your uncle, but you wouldn't even do it. What's the point of having a good-for-nothing like you? If I don't beat you to death today, I'm not a Lin."
Lin Ming screamed and begged for mercy, "Dad, stop hitting me! I'll go, I'll go, okay?"
Lin Qinghuan clapped her hands and laughed, "Father, you are so wise and powerful! Qinghuan admires you the most!"
Grandpa Lin's lips twitched as he looked at the scene before him.
The middle-aged man looked at Lin Qinghuan, who was gloating and laughing heartily, and whispered to Grandpa Lin, "Grandpa, your granddaughter is just like you." Both of them are so wicked!
Grandpa Lin forced down the corners of his mouth, glared at the middle-aged man, and thought, "Am I really that wicked?"
The middle-aged man secretly rolled his eyes. You're even more immoral than your granddaughter, but he didn't dare say it out loud.
Lin Ming covered his head and ran towards the main gate.
The villagers who had gathered at the door to watch the commotion very readily made way for Lin Ming to run out.
Lin Ming ran to his uncle's house and called out to his uncle, who was sitting under the eaves, "Uncle, your father, my grandfather, is back. He wants you to take my grandmother's paiwei to see him."
Uncle Lin thought he was hallucinating and had misheard. He picked at his ear and said, "Lin Ming, what did you just say? I didn't hear you clearly. Say it again."
"Your real father, my real grandfather, has come back in his car and is at my house right now," Lin Ming said loudly.
Disbelief was written all over Uncle Lin's face.
Holy crap! He really wasn't hallucinating. He abandoned his wife and children, left home for twenty years, and didn't die out there. He even came back in glory.
Lin Tang came out of the room, looked at Lin Ming and asked, "Grandpa really came back, and he still wants to see Grandma's memorial tablet?"
"Qinghuan asked me to come, and she also asked my uncle to bring Grandma's memorial tablet so that Grandpa could see it." Lin Ming explained the whole story.
Lin Tang and Uncle Lin laughed. Uncle Lin said loudly to Lin Tang, "Go, pick up your grandmother's memorial tablet, let's go and meet your grandfather."
