Chapter 357 Visit

Lin Qinghuan and her grandfather arrived at the county hospital, travel-worn. In the corridor of the inpatient department, they encountered Lin's father, who was squatting on the ground crying. His suppressed sobs were filled with helplessness, sadness, and despair. His once black hair had turned gray, making him look much older than his actual age, like a weathered old man. Standing next to Lin's grandfather, he looked like a peer.

A bitter feeling welled up in Lin Qinghuan's heart. Her lips trembled slightly, and finally turned into a sigh.

Grandpa Lin looked at his father, who was squatting on the ground, in disbelief, tears welling up in his eyes. It had only been a short time since he last saw his son, how could his second son have become like this?

Lin Fu and Xiao Wang, who were following behind Grandpa Lin, looked at their father, who was full of dejection and sadness. How could he have aged so quickly in just over ten days? He must have suffered too much!

"Second son!" Grandpa Lin called out.

His voice was filled with sadness and heartache.

Upon hearing Grandpa Lin's voice, Lin's father abruptly raised his head and saw that it was Lin Qinghuan and Grandpa Lin. As if grasping at a lifeline, he stood up excitedly, "Dad, Qinghuan, you've finally come."

As he spoke, Lin's father walked up to Lin Qinghuan and said urgently, "Qinghuan, go see Piaoxue quickly, she's dying, the doctor has already issued a critical condition notice."

Lin's father didn't give Lin Qinghuan a chance to speak at all, and pulled her into the ward without saying a word.

In the ward, Lin Piaoxue lay quietly on the bed with tubes inserted into her body and a ventilator on her back. She looked like a dead person, not moving at all, with a bandage wrapped around her head that was particularly conspicuous.

"Qinghuan, hurry, your medical skills are excellent, quickly take a look at your sister," the father inside urged.

Lin Qinghuan reached out to take Lin Piaoxue's pulse, then lifted Lin Piaoxue's eyelids to examine her. Just as she was about to speak, Lin's father asked impatiently, "How is she? How is she? Is there any hope for your sister?"

“Excessive blood loss has caused a deep coma, and the injury is to the head. Even if he can be saved, he is very likely to become a vegetable. Even if he wakes up one day, his intelligence will be affected, and he may even be unable to take care of himself. Do you still want me to save him?” Lin Qinghuan asked, looking at her father.

Lin's father asked, puzzled, "You were injured and unconscious before, but you're fine now."

“I was also injured and unconscious before, but I didn’t hit my head,” Lin Qinghuan said.

Lin's father blurted out, "What's the difference? Or are you holding a grudge and unwilling to save your sister?"

Lin Qinghuan's expression turned slightly stern as she said solemnly, "The things Lin Piaoxue has done to me are too numerous to count. I have never acknowledged Lin Piaoxue as my sister. I am only standing here now because of you and Mom who gave birth to me and raised me. I am willing to save her out of humanitarianism. If I don't save her, no one will dare to say a bad word about me."

"Dad, I sympathize with you and feel sorry for you, but please don't use your position as my father to morally blackmail or criticize me."

Lin's father was speechless for a moment.

Grandpa Lin looked at Lin's father and said with displeasure, "Lin Piaoxue has brought this situation upon herself. She has no one to blame but herself. If you want to save her, you must be prepared to take care of her for the rest of your life."

Lin's father thought of Lin's mother, who was unable to take care of herself and had already exhausted him. If there were another Lin Piaoxue, he simply wouldn't be able to take care of her. But he couldn't watch Lin Piaoxue die.

“Lin Piaoxue killed Lin Yu and is very likely to be held criminally liable. Even if she is saved, she may still face imprisonment,” Lin Fu suddenly said.

Sometimes living is more painful than dying. If Lin Piaoxue hadn't gone mad, she would have been facing a life of imprisonment without freedom.

Lin Piaoxue was quite proud, but the constant fear and anxiety of prison life was undoubtedly a blow to her. The psychological trauma and the pressure of life made it uncertain whether Lin Piaoxue could endure it.

Upon hearing Lin Fu's words, Lin's father swayed slightly. Xiao Wang, worried that Lin's father might fall, quickly caught him.

Looking at the unconscious Lin Piaoxue, Lin Piaoxue's father knew that while killing Li Jian was an act of self-defense, her attack on Lin Yu constituted intentional homicide. Murderers must pay with their lives, and Lin Piaoxue could potentially be executed.

Lin Piaoxue was the daughter that Lin's father had doted on since she was a child. He couldn't bear to watch her die in front of him and do nothing about it.

After much deliberation, Lin's father decided, "Qinghuan, I hope you will save Piaoxue. No matter what Piaoxue becomes, I can accept it."

A mocking smile curled at the corner of Lin Qinghuan's lips; truly, fatherly love is as solid as a mountain.

"Lin Piaoxue won't die anytime soon. Let's go check on my mother and second brother first," Lin Qinghuan said to Grandpa Lin.

Grandpa Lin said, "Okay!"

Mr. Lin led them to Lin Qing and Lin's mother's ward. "There are three patients in the family at once. In order to make it easier to take care of them, I made a special request to the hospital to arrange for them to stay in the same ward."

Lin Qinghuan glanced around the ward. It was a double room with only Lin's mother and Lin Qing as patients. This was the early 1980s, and hospital wards weren't as strictly divided, unless it was an infectious disease requiring isolation. It made sense that the hospital was giving the Lin family extra attention since three patients were suddenly seriously ill. In the 21st century, wards were clearly divided, with patients from each ward staying in the same department for timely handling of emergencies and treatment. Patients would only be moved to other departments if the wards were full.

When Lin Qing and her mother saw Lin Qinghuan and her grandfather arrive, their faces showed surprise. Lin's mother reached out her hand to Lin Qinghuan, struggling to sit up and pull her up, but she was paralyzed in bed and could not do as she pleased. She could only look at Lin Qinghuan silently without shedding a tear.
