Fan Ziru stared blankly at the book title written by He Yunxiao, not quite understanding it for a moment.
Why can a colon appear in a book title?
Can book titles be written in plain language?
Defeating the leader of the martial arts alliance only occupies a small part of the book; can that really be used as the title?
Fan Ziruo looked at the book title written by He Yunxiao, and then at the book title she had written herself, "Qingping".
Although she still thought "Qingping" was better, looking at He Yunxiao's book suddenly gave her the urge to open it and read it again, even though she had read it several times and remembered many of the plots. She just suddenly wanted to open the book and take a look.
Seeing her expression, He Yunxiao knew that his goal had been achieved, so he said, "Ziruo, an outsider's perspective is clearer. How about we ask Miss Du to take a look?"
Fan Ziruo, who had been full of confidence just moments before, now seemed a little insecure. She said, "Okay."
Fan Ziruo, holding two sheets of paper with the book titles written on them, walked side by side with He Yunxiao to Du Yinyun's residence.
Du Meimei was still the same as always, spending her days either playing the piano, reading, or embroidering. She would only go and monopolize Fan Ziruo for a while to chat with her good friend when He Yunxiao was not around.
She had already finished one embroidered handkerchief for Fan Ziruo, and was still embroidering the second one.
The embroidery pattern was specially chosen to match the older sister's temperament: "lotus after rain".
However, judging from the pattern that Du Yinyun is embroidering, this "lotus after the rain" only has "lotus" and no "rain".
Clever as she is, she would never miss the "rainwater" in her embroidery. On the contrary, the "lotus after the rain" without any rainwater is the real stroke of genius.
Du Yinyun moved a chair and sat under the eaves. Next to her, on a stool, was a bamboo basket containing various needles and threads needed for embroidery.
She was embroidering lotus flowers on her hands, and a smile she couldn't hide played on her lips.
I really want to see what my sister looks like when it's "raining"...
After all, it's "Yuhe" (雨荷)...
Fan Ziruo led He Yunxiao to Du Yinyun's residence, and standing a little distance away, she called out, "Yinyun."
When Du Yinyun heard Fan Ziruo call her, she was about to get up and tease Sister Fan a bit, but before she could speak, she saw He Yunxiao next to Fan Ziruo.
Du Meimei cherished her beloved young master dearly, thinking of him constantly and never forgetting his words of advice.
Upon seeing He Yunxiao, she abandoned her playful plan with Fan Ziruo and adopted a cool and aloof demeanor. She put down her needlework, rose, and gave He Yunxiao a slight bow. Every gesture exuded a natural sense of distance, a kind of "aloofness."
She gave a slight bow, neither too much nor too little, and said, "Young Master He."
He Yunxiao returned the greeting with a cupped hand and said, "Miss Du, we meet again."
Seeing the atmosphere, Fan Ziruo stood between the two who were "distant" and explained to He Yunxiao, "Young master, my sister is a bit indifferent. She is like that to everyone, neither warm nor cold. Please don't take it to heart."
He Yunxiao: "Apathetic Nature"
Du Yinyun: Why are you calling me "Young Master" now, Sister? I was the one who called me that first.
He Yunxiao replied to Fan Ziruo: "It's alright, it's alright. I've heard about Miss Du's personality for a long time."
He Yunxiao deliberately avoided mentioning "having met at Chunfeng Tower" to try and get closer to her. Firstly, he didn't need to get close to Sister Du, and secondly, Chunfeng Tower wasn't a pleasant memory. Bringing up someone's sad past for no reason would be a bit much.
Fan Ziruo quickly got to the point, handing Du Yinyun two sheets of paper with the book title written on them.
"Phonetics, here are two books. Judging from the titles alone, which one do you like? Which one would you like to read?"
Du Yinyun looked at the titles of the two books in her hands, then looked up at Fan Ziruo and He Yunxiao. She then pointed to "Qingping" and said, "I like this one."
Du Yinyun's choice surprised He Yunxiao a little.
Why didn't they choose my colon-based post?
Upon closer reflection, it makes sense. Du Meimei's literary level is second only to Fan Ziruo, which is extremely high, so it's normal for her to look down on vernacular book titles.
After bidding farewell to Du Yinyun, the two asked several literate maids, and just as He Yunxiao had predicted, the maids all chose the colon form.
The two returned to the study side by side, and Fan Ziruo's expression was not good.
He Yunxiao comforted her, "Zi Ruo is indeed a good name, though it's a bit too elegant. Elegance has its advantages, doesn't Miss Du like it?"
Fan Ziruo said, "Young master doesn't understand. My sister is very clever. She must have realized that I came up with the title of this book, and deliberately chose this title to take care of me."
This made He Yunxiao a little embarrassed.
Everyone else chose themselves, but no one chose Fan Ziruo.
No matter what, Fan Ziruo was the most talented woman in Yinjing. Yet, after teaching her online novels, she had already shattered her confidence by only reaching the first level.
For the author, confidence is a very complicated thing.
Excessive confidence can make one unwilling to listen to advice and prone to arrogance; insufficient confidence can make one hesitant and timid, resulting in writing that lacks sharpness and confidence.
Therefore, a good author must retain both humility and pride, which is very difficult.
He Yunxiao, seeing that Fan Ziruo was in a somewhat depressed mood, placed the two sheets of manuscript paper with the book title written on them in front of her again.
"Ziruo, you did a very good job with the name 'Qingping'."
Fan Ziruo raised her head and looked at He Yunxiao intently.
He Yunxiao repeated, "Qingping is really good, even much better than the original title of the book, Taihu Swordsman Record."
Fan Ziruo's eyes shone brightly as she looked intently at He Yunxiao, listening carefully to his tone. No matter how she observed his expression or tried to discern his tone, no matter how carefully she observed or how many times she tried, she could only come to one conclusion—He Yunxiao genuinely believed it.
