Chapter Twenty-One: The Siege of Luoyue Pass

Beside the chariot of the Yan army's commander-in-chief, nine towering auras of grandmasters emanated.

Among them were men and women, fat and thin, but the only thing they had in common was that they all looked solemnly at Luoyue Pass, where shouts of battle were raging not far away.

Both the commander-in-chief on the chariot and the nine grandmasters understood that it was nothing short of a pipe dream for 300,000 Yan troops to break through Luoyue Pass in one night.

The reason why the Yan army kept attacking Luoyue Pass was simply to create opportunities for them.

Grandmasters are already capable of breaking through mountain gates; if the time is right, it is not impossible for them to break through the gates of Luoyue Pass.

The battle cries of the Yan army lasted for three hours. Under the continuous and almost uninterrupted attacks, both the Qi defenders and the Yan army were exhausted.

Everyone understood that the outcome of this battle would determine the outcome of the entire northwestern war situation in the State of Qi.

If Yan captures Luoyue Pass, its forces can advance directly to Yinjing. If it fails to capture Luoyue Pass, Yan will be forced to remain north of Luoyue, only able to gaze at the six southern states of the Nine Provinces from afar.

Yang Wu frowned deeply as he stared at the Yan army launching a continuous offensive below the city.

He knew without a doubt that under such an offensive, the Yan army's casualties would far exceed those of the Qi army. Siege warfare is a protracted war, especially when both sides are evenly matched. The Yan army's eagerness for quick success was baffling.

"Yang Yufei".

"Your subordinate is here."

"Has the signal fire been lit?"

"I ordered it, but..."

"What?"

There was no response.

No response?

Yang Wu's heart stirred, and he quickly used his lightness skill to climb the high hall of the city tower. Looking south, he saw that the southern watchtower was indeed quiet.

Yang Wu remained expressionless. After landing from the palace roof, he said, "Send out scouts and make sure to deliver the news of the 300,000 Yan troops' invasion to Yin Jing."

"Commander, I have already dispatched three scout teams."

"Send three more, no, nine more."

"yes."
