As a seventeen-year-old girl, Meng Qingrou naturally loved candied hawthorns, but with something on her mind, she lost interest in eating them.
"I don't really want to eat South Pearl."
He Yunxiao held up the candied hawthorn, but when Nanzhu's wife said she didn't want it, he put it back.
"Cough cough." Xiao Xiao took control of Chu Xiao Xiao's body and pretended to be confused as she sat up in bed. Her timing was perfect; He Yun Xiao almost put the candied hawthorn back into the box.
Meng Qingrou said happily, "Chuchu, you're awake."
Xiao Xiao: "I'm not..."
Before Xiaoxiao could finish speaking, He Yunxiao lunged at her with a candied hawthorn in his hand.
The two were so close that their noses were almost touching.

Without saying a word, He Yunxiao stuffed the candied hawthorn into Xiaoxiao's hand.
"Chu Chu, you are Chu Chu, do you know that?" He Yunxiao blinked frantically, trying to imply.
Xiao Xiao's heart was pounding, and she was already panicking. She stared straight at He Yunxiao, then turned her face away, snorted, and said, "Candied hawthorn, I want more."
He Yunxiao bought four candied hawthorns, intending to give one to each of them, but the situation was urgent, and he couldn't care less about such details. He handed three candied hawthorns to Xiaoxiao, finally turning her from "this girl" into "the real person".
The assembled bed was put away, and He Yunxiao and his wife Nanzhu sat on one side, while Xiaoxiao sat opposite them.
Holding a candied hawthorn, Meng Qingrou looked at "Chu Chu" across from her and asked, "Brother Xiao, why doesn't Chu Chu come sit over here?"
He Yunxiao said, "She doesn't want to sit over here, right?"

"You're not allowed to say things like 'I like Chu Chu more' anymore. I clearly like Rou'er the most." He Yunxiao pointed a finger at his wife Nan Zhu's smooth forehead. He didn't shy away from using "most," because he couldn't give up any of the female leads; they were all truly his "favorites."
"Okay." Meng Qingrou put her small hand into He Yunxiao's big hand and stuck out her tongue at him mischievously.
Xiao Xiao curled her lip in disdain, thinking to herself: "Luckily, I don't like He Yunxiao, otherwise his sister would be dead. How could he say such inappropriate things? Doesn't he know there's no future between cousins? I'm only letting him off the hook because of Chu Chu. Otherwise…"
Xiao Xiao's gaze towards Nan Zhu was inexplicably dangerous.
He Yunxiao was completely unaware of Xiaoxiao behind him. He returned the remaining half of the candied hawthorn to Nanzhu's wife and continued to be affectionate with her.
Judging from the current progress of He Yunxiao and Nan Zhu's relationship, although the affection level only shows 75, their actual relationship far exceeds that number. Holding hands is the minimum requirement; they've done countless ambiguous hand gestures like touching palms and interlocking fingers. Hugging, cuddling, and being affectionate are also commonplace.

As for why this situation occurred, one reason is that He Yunxiao did not want to bully Nan Zhu too much.
What sets Nam-joo apart from the other female leads is that, aside from their earlier squabbles, she's constantly being bullied by He Yunxiao. Even Sister Du was once aloof towards He Yunxiao, yet Nam-joo was immediately manipulated by him. That's just Nam-joo's nature; an overly kind person is always the weaker party.
