Chapter 3 The Done Done

Yan Luo's mind went blank for a moment, her breathing stopped abruptly, and she began to gasp for air, but she quickly calmed down.

Yanluo comforted herself, saying that good people are always protected by heaven, and everything would be alright.

He left his room and went into the room of the three sisters.

She slumped against the door, lying on the floor, quietly watching her three sisters still asleep on the bed.

Recalling the past.

When they were seven years old, their parents went on a business trip and were in a car accident on their way back. Yanluo and Yanli then lived with their grandfather. Life was just going on peacefully, but when they were nine, their grandfather passed away due to long-term overwork.

The older sister, who is six years older than him but only fifteen, shoulders the heavy responsibility of taking care of her younger brother. Only the two siblings know the hardships they endured.

When Yanluo was sixteen, he joined the Longxia Ghost Hunting Team by chance. Under the guidance of his seniors, he kept killing ghosts to earn money, which made things much easier for his older sister, who had entered the Longxia Research Institute at the age of twenty-two.

However, he never revealed any of his ghost-slaying skills to his sister; he only told her that he earned them by writing novels.

Although Yanli had her doubts, she believed that her younger brother would not do anything illegal or disorderly.

When she was eighteen, at the beginning of that year, my older sister said that she had a boyfriend, someone she could entrust her life to, and that she was going to marry him.

Yanluo told her sister the results of her investigation. Her sister said she didn't care; she loved Tu Yi as a person, and by extension, she also liked Tu Yi's two daughters.

On her wedding night, Yanli wore a traditional red wedding dress and a gold hair ornament; she looked absolutely stunning. A photo of the siblings together is still preserved in Yanluo's phone album.

Tu Yier was born in the middle of that year, specifically on June 1st.

Yanluo took his little niece into his arms. The tiny life was so meaningful. For the first time, he marveled at the wonder of life. His two older nieces stood on either side of Yanluo, watching their newborn sister.

Tu Yi took out his phone and took the first group photo of the four of them.

There will be many more group photos in the future.

As the sun slowly rose in the early morning, a sliver of light shone through the gap in the curtains into the room, illuminating Yanluo's face.

Tu Luoxue opened her eyes groggily. She turned around and saw Yanluo sitting on the ground next to the door.

She saw that Yanluo's eyes were bloodshot and had a bad feeling, but she still got up gently, sat down next to Yanluo, and held Yanluo's hand.

She asked softly, "What's wrong?"

Why are you sitting here?

"Didn't you sleep all night?"

Yanluo pulled her out of the room and downstairs. Holding her hand, he solemnly said, "Xue'er, you must be mentally prepared for what I'm about to say."

Seeing Tu Luoxue nod, Yan Luo continued, "Your parents had an accident; they said their plane crashed."

"Thump—"

Suddenly, there was a sound of something falling to the floor.

Yan Luo and the other person turned around, and it was Tu Keke.

Tu Keke knelt on the ground and began to cry, covering her face, but she covered her mouth, trying her best not to cry out loud.

My younger sister is still fast asleep.

Tu Luoxue, with tears streaming down her face, hugged Tu Keke and sobbed together.

"Sister, Mom and Dad..."

Tu Luoxue held Tu Keke's head and gently stroked her back, saying, "It's alright, the results aren't out yet, there might still be a chance of survival."

"Everything will be alright."

But Tu Luoxue, who said this, looked helplessly at Yanluo.

Yanlu walked to the two girls' side, hugged them tightly, and said, "It will be alright. We need to stay calm. Even if something happens, we can't let Yi'er know. We have to keep it from her. She's still young."

The two women nodded while crying.

At 8 a.m., the morning news reported that, based on the extent of the plane crash and the search of the surrounding area, it had been confirmed that the Tu Yi couple were dead. The black box on the plane was still being deciphered, and the reason for the plane crash was still under investigation.

Upon hearing this news, Tu Keke lost control and almost fainted.

Tu Luoxue was also stunned and stood there.

After helping Tu Keke sit down, Yan Luo lost his composure, took out a cigarette, lit it, and took a deep drag, but choked and coughed violently.

"Uncle, why are you smoking again? Did you choke on your cigarette?"

Tu Yier walked downstairs and saw Yan Luo coughing. An angry look appeared on her face.

Yan Luo chuckled dryly, stubbed out his cigarette, went to the bathroom to wash his hands, then came back, picked up Tu Yi'er, and apologized, "I'm sorry, Uncle shouldn't have smoked at home."

Tu Yier gently stroked Yan Luo's head with her small hand and said, "Uncle is so good, he knows how to admit his mistakes."

Tu Luoxue and Tu Keke quickly composed themselves and burst out laughing.

After putting her niece down, Yanluo composed herself, tied on her apron, directed the three women to wash up, and then went into the kitchen to make breakfast.

Sister, don't worry.

The children have me.

At eight o'clock in the morning, Tu Yi's parents, Tu Xing and Shen Yulan, arrived at the house.

Sixty-one-year-old Shen Yulan held her three granddaughters and wept bitterly.

The husband, Tu Xing, did not cry, but his eyes were red. At sixty-three years old, he already had some gray hair. Now that his son and daughter-in-law had an accident, this once powerful and dignified old man had turned white overnight.

Tu Yier didn't know what had happened, but her grandmother's tears and her sisters' unusual behavior this morning made her realize something.

She asked in confusion, "Grandma, what's wrong with Mom and Dad?"

Yanluo knew things were going badly, but there was nothing she could do. The child was too clever; how could she not understand the concept of death?

Everyone was stunned and didn't know how to answer.

Yan Luo squatted down, looked into Tu Yi'er's eyes, and said solemnly, "Yi'er, your father and mother's plane crashed. They may, they may not come back."

Tu Yier was stunned at first, then tears began to fall uncontrollably, and she burst into tears.

Shen Yulan held her granddaughter, already in tears.

At nine o'clock in the morning, Zheng Guoan, director of the Longxia Research Institute, arrived at my home.

He and Tu Xing were old classmates. They had known each other since junior high school. One was a top student, and the other was a school bully. They were the two most extreme and successful individuals in their year.

He brought the information deciphered from the black box; even a normally slightly damaged black box would take several days to decipher.

The black box on the special plane was not badly damaged, and the higher-ups were eager to know the truth, so the decoding speed was greatly accelerated.

The plane crashed because a flock of birds got caught in both engines, causing engine failure.

But is that really the case? A seed of doubt was planted in Yanluo's heart.

10:00 AM.

Tu Luoxue and Tu Keke took their younger sister upstairs to comfort her and put her to sleep, while more and more people were coming downstairs.

Tu Xing suppressed his grief and, together with his wife and the relatives who arrived later, began preparing for the funeral.

As a junior, Yanluo simply listened quietly from the sidelines, ready to help whenever needed.
