Chapter 388 Obsession and Desire

After arriving home, Yanluo did not wake Chi Miaomiao, who was fast asleep. Yanluo picked her up, while Bai Ningbing went outside and picked up Tu Yier. The two of them carried the two children to the bed in the room.

Everyone was home except for the two young girls; An Qiuxi had also come to play.

Speaking of Tu Keke and Man Sui, the two ran out after lunch. Tu Keke was thinking about showing Nangong Wenqing the letter from her great-grandfather.

(To avoid being accused of padding the word count, I've omitted Nangong's name. Just know him as [Nangong Wenqing]. I've already padded the word count by the time I typed this, hehehehehe.)

So Tu Keke took Man Sui to a coffee shop that Nangong opened after the New Year, so that she could be there when Yan Luo came.

Seeing that Tu Keke and Man Sui had come together, Nangong was quite happy and warmly invited them to sit down. He ordered some drinks, and Tu Keke and Man Sui sat in their usual seats to wait.

Tu Keke's bright, piercing blue eyes were fixed on Nangong, but Nangong seemed completely oblivious to her gaze.

Nangong was dressed in a red dress today; it seems that mature women love to wear red. Her every move exuded elegance. Her hair was styled with a jade hairpin, and she wore light makeup. She seemed to be waiting for someone to arrive.

The aroma of coffee filled the shop. Under Tu Luoxue's influence, Tu Keke recognized the music playing on the shop's speakers as a somewhat melancholic piano piece, which suited the events to come.

Tu Keke loves sweets, and Nangong always remembers this. Every time Yanluo comes, he asks him to bring some back. Today, Tu Keke came in person, and Nangong is very happy.

Although Tu Keke is not his biological great-granddaughter, Nangong felt that having the title was enough, and the children were all very cute, so there was no reason not to like them.

Soon, Nangong arrived at Tu Keke and Man Sui's table with a tray. On the tray were three cups of coffee and a strawberry cake served on an exquisite porcelain plate.

"Please enjoy your meal." Nangong smiled and placed the items on the table. Then he sat down opposite Tu Keke and Man Sui. Man Sui's eyes lit up instantly when she saw the strawberry cake, her pink eyes almost sparkling.

Man Sui said thank you, picked up her fork and couldn't wait to take a bite. She had eaten Nangong's strawberry cake before, but every time she ate it, she thought it was super delicious!

The little pink-haired girl's eyes were sparkling; it seemed that the cake Nangong made suited her taste perfectly.

Unlike Man Sui, Tu Keke was not in a heavy mood. She picked up her coffee and took a sip.

The girl didn't know how to start the conversation. She was certain that the person in front of her was her great-grandmother, but if Nangong didn't admit it, wouldn't that be incredibly awkward?

Just thinking about it made Teacher Xin so hungry that she could dig her toes out of shape.

Following the wise saying, "Since we're already here," Tu Keke braced herself and said, "Nangong Wenqing."

"Manager, does this name ring a bell?"

Nangong was stunned. She tried her best to make her expression look natural, but Tu Keke still noticed the slightest hint of something.

Man Sui blinked her cute pink eyes, not understanding what was going on, and just kept eating her strawberry cake.

"But, Coco, I've never heard of this name before." Nangong forced a smile.

Tu Keke didn't believe Nangong's words, and instead took out the clean hairpin and the old letter from her bag.

"This is a letter left for you by your great-grandfather. Please forgive me for opening it."

Nangong could no longer control himself. His eyes widened, and his gaze moved rapidly between Tu Keke's face and the thing in her hand.

With trembling hands, Nangong took the letter and hairpin from Tu Keke.

Taking the letter out of the envelope, Nangong's lips trembled as she read the letter Yan Wuxie had left for her. While Nangong was reading, Tu Keke breathed a sigh of relief and picked up a fork to take a bite of her strawberry cake.

It's so delicious!

Nangong felt very sad, but no tears flowed from his bloodshot eyes. He had cried all his tears after becoming a ghoul.

Ghouls only shed tears of blood, not ordinary tears like those of the living.

Her voice became a little hoarse. Nangong looked at Tu Keke and said, "Thank you for giving it to me, Keke."

Tu Keke shook her head. The girl wanted to say something, but seeing Nangong's sad expression, she held back.

After quickly finishing her meal with Man Sui, Tu Keke didn't linger. She said goodbye to Nangong and left the coffee shop.

Tu Keke knew that Nangong needed to be alone at this moment.

No one can remain calm if they never knew that their closest loved one had turned them into a monster.

Nangong watched the two girls leave, then turned back into the shop and flipped the "Open for Business" sign at the door to "Temporarily Closed".

She walked step by step to the coffee bar, sat down in her usual chair, holding Yan Wuxie's letter and the hairpin that symbolized their betrothal.

Nangong did not blame Yan Wuxie.

Silly boy, how could I blame you? I'm content to see more of this beautiful world.

What Nangong wants to do is not much different from what Yan Wuxie does; she wants to turn Yan Luo into a corpse demon, otherwise Yan Luo will still die from the curse at the age of twenty-five.

She absolutely could not let such a thing happen. Nangong had already lost her husband and son; she could not afford to lose her only grandson as well.

Tu Keke's arrival forced Nangong to bring forward her plans, as she worried that Tu Keke might tell Yanluo about it.

If Yanluo were to ask her for help, Nangong was afraid she would soften her heart, and she absolutely could not soften her heart.

Nangong not only has to fulfill his own wish, but also help his subordinates fulfill theirs, because turning into a ghoul means he can no longer live openly with his living family.

Then let's turn everyone into ghouls.

Nangong carries the curse of the Nangong family on her shoulders, and she doesn't mind bringing more; let all the karmic retribution come even more fiercely like a storm.

As long as everyone can be happy, Nangong feels that everything is worthwhile.

It simply makes the people of the whole country stronger, while everything else continues to operate as before. Nangong doesn't think there's anything wrong with that.

Little did she know that her thoughts were becoming increasingly obsessive, and the power of [Origin] within her body was awakening even more bloodlust in Nangong's heart.

Nangong noticed the side effects of [Origin], which made her hesitant to analyze its power excessively lately, lest she lose control and do something she would regret.

But with Tu Keke's arrival today, Nangong knew he could no longer afford to hesitate.

Nangong raised her head and looked at the people coming and going outside the shop. The obsession and desire contained in her blood-red eyes were completely exposed. Nangong couldn't help but clench the letter and hairpin in her hand.

Before she knew it, the letter was crumpled in her hand, and the hairpin in her other hand broke because of the force she was gripping.

Looking at the broken hairpin, Nangong gritted her teeth, her eyes flashing coldly as she looked at the people outside the shop, lost in thought.
