Chapter 297 A Strange Fate in the Wind

It's a very warm piece of music, a piece that can make listeners feel happy.

At least that's how it sounded to the three Tu Luoxue sisters.

When Nangong finished playing, she stood up and turned around, and saw the smiles on the faces of the three little ones and Yanluo with a tear streaming down her face.

Yan Luo remembers that her grandfather used to play the piano. There was an old piano covered with a black cloth on the top floor of their old home. A few years ago, Yan Wuxie could still be heard playing it, which indirectly influenced Yan Luo.

Later, Yanluo learned to play the piano herself and wanted to play the pieces her grandfather had played, but she couldn't remember how her grandfather had played them. Intermittent notes would occasionally ring in Yanluo's mind, and she was quite distressed because she couldn't piece together a complete piece.

Unexpectedly, Yanluo heard the complete piece of music today from a coffee shop manager.

Yanluo got up and walked towards Nangong, gripping Nangong's shoulders tightly with both hands.

"Sister Nangong, where did you learn about this piece of music?"

"Please tell me, this is very important to me."

He met Nangong's gaze and saw heartache and concern in Nangong's bloodshot eyes. Nangong did not answer Yanluo immediately, but reached out to wipe away the tears on Yanluo's face.

This made Tu Luoxue and Tu Keke's eyes widen like saucers.

Nangong slowly withdrew his hand.

"I came across this piece by chance; the original is no longer available. If you like it, I can write out the score for you."

Yan Luo didn't pay attention to Nangong's actions, or rather, he didn't reject Nangong's actions. Instead, he felt a sense of care from an elder.

"Okay, thank you for your help, Sister Nangong."

Nangong gently shook his head.

"Sit down, your coffee's getting cold."

Tu Yier was once again held in Nangong's arms.

"Sister Nangong, you play so beautifully!"

Nangong smiled and hugged Tu Yier tightly, reluctant to let go of his adorable great-granddaughter.

"Right, Yi'er, do you like playing the piano? I can teach you."

Tu Yier smiled and shook her head, saying, "No need to trouble you, sister. My uncle and sister can also play the piano, and they can teach me."

Nangong fed Tu Yier a bite of cake with a fork.

"That's true."

Yan Luo was still lost in the music from before when Tu Keke, who was sitting next to him, waved her hand in front of him to bring him back to his senses.

Nangong looked at Yanluo.

"Xiao Luo, I'm going to the Western Regions next week. A friend asked me to check out the coffee beans there. I'll bring you some extra beans later, so you can make your own if you want some."

"No, no, Sister Nangong, I haven't finished the ones you gave me yet," Yanluo quickly refused.

"It's okay, it's just sitting there anyway. You can have a drink with your family when you have some free time."

"Yi'er, you can't drink too much, or you won't be able to sleep at night."

Tu Yier pouted.

"I'm a little adult now, I can drink."

Nangong smiled and poked Tu Yier's cheek, then brought the juice to the little one's lips.

"Be good, let's have some juice. I'll get you some cake later so you can take it home and share it with your family, okay?"

"Thank you, sister!"

Tu Yier smiled and kissed Nangong, whose face instantly turned crimson, her head practically steaming – the stimulation was too much for her.

Nangong returned to the bar to write the score for Yanluo, while the four of them continued to enjoy the fragrant coffee and delicious cake.

Seeing Yanluo's strong reaction earlier, Tu Luoxue asked Yanluo, "Are you very concerned about that piece of music?"

Yanluo put down her coffee cup and nodded.

“My grandfather used to play this piece. Later, I learned to play the piano and forgot about it. I never expected that Sister Nangong would know this piece.”

"I'm so lucky."

Tu Keke's eyes were dark and unfathomable. She would glance at Nangong at the bar from time to time. After hearing Yanluo's words, some new ideas came to her mind.

Little White Hair took a bite of the cake. Nangong's desserts were indeed excellent. Tu Luoxue's white ahoge (cowlick) swayed back and forth, indicating that it was indeed delicious.

"Shall we play this piece together tonight?"

"good."

Soon, Nangong finished the score and handed it to Yanluo. Yanluo looked at the score and looked up to meet Nangong's extremely gentle blood-red eyes.

"Sister Nangong, what's the name of this piece of music?"

Nangong sat down and pulled Tu Yier into his arms again.

"This piece is called 'Pocahontas,' and it is said to have been composed by a young woman, seemingly to commemorate her meeting, getting to know, and falling in love with her lover. It is a very happy piece of music."

Tu Luoxue took the musical score from Yan Luo.

"This is truly a remarkable piece of music. The high notes evoke happiness, while the low notes convey a different kind of poignant beauty."

Nangong chuckled a few times.

"As expected of Xiaoxue, she has a very unique perspective."

Yanluo looked at Nangong and thanked him very solemnly.

"Thank you, Sister Nangong. I thought I'd never hear this piece of music again in my life, but I never expected..."

Nangong waved his hand and smiled, "It's all fate."

"I'm glad you like this piece of music."

Around 4 PM, Yanluo and his three nephews left the coffee shop, and Nangong stood at the door watching the car drive away with reluctance.

She clutched her chest; although as a ghoul she shouldn't feel pain, she felt a terrifying pressure on her heart.

The ghouls might not feel pain, but the grandmother would.

If only I hadn't turned into a ghoul, the cold wind blew through Nangong's loose hair, and she couldn't help but think this.

She quickly adjusted her mindset.

"It will be soon, then we can all be together all the time."

The winter sun shone on Nangong, but the smile on her face was extremely eerie.

Passersby couldn't help but feel a chill, and they quickly looked away and hurried on their way.

Tu Keke had been silent since the coffee shop started, and Yan Luo noticed her unusual behavior.

"Coco, what's wrong?"

The little golden retriever was lost in thought and didn't hear Yanluo's voice. Tu Yier saw that her sister looked strange and nudged Tu Keke.

Tu Keke snapped out of her daze and let out a soft "Ah!"

"What's wrong? What's wrong?"

Tu Yier pointed to Yan Luo in the driver's seat. Tu Keke looked at Yan Luo, and before he could speak again, Tu Keke asked first, "Uncle, have you met Great-Grandma?"

Yan Luo gently shook his head. Not to mention that he had never seen it, even his father, Yan Fei, had never seen anything like a photo of it.

Nangong passed away when Yanfei was still an infant. Yan Wuxie was very sad and buried all of Nangong's belongings, not even a single photograph.

Tu Keke's lips were a little pale.

Do you know where Great-Grandma's grave is?

Yanlu shook her head again.

"I don't know, but Master Chu should know."

Tu Luoxue looked puzzled and said, "Don't you know?"

"I really don't know. I don't even know their names. Apart from my grandfather's generation, I guess even my dad doesn't know them."

Yan Luo had asked about it when he was a child, but Yan Wuxie always changed the subject, so he eventually stopped asking.

"We'll go back and ask Master Chu after the New Year."
