Chapter 20

Chapter 20

The security personnel, being NPCs, couldn't understand the cryptic conversation between the two. After exchanging a glance, they continued with their duties, obediently pushing Xie Nanyi inside.

It wasn't until the ward door was completely closed that Assistant Qin, who was standing outside, came to his senses. His back was already soaked with cold sweat, and he looked at his hands, which were trembling uncontrollably.

The pheromones of a high-quality Alpha lived up to their reputation; even a tiny bit of overflowing pheromones almost made him collapse to his knees.

The more he tried to calm himself down, the more frequently his hands trembled. Assistant Qin gave up trying to control his body, took a cigarette from his pocket, and lit it.

The cigarette butt burned his fingers, and the lingering effects of the pheromones slowly dissipated. Assistant Qin stubbed out the cigarette in his palm, then fumbled to turn on his communication device and sent a message.

After doing all that, his heart calmed down a little.

He had done everything the young master had instructed him to do, but how things would develop afterward was beyond his control.

In the underground bar, Pei Xingzhi slumped onto the sofa, covering his mouth and trying hard not to vomit. He didn't know how much he had been forced to drink, but he knew that if he drank any more, he would die.

"I can't take it anymore, I really can't drink anymore." Pei Xingzhi's mind was a little hazy, and his words were slurred. Chu Ling had to listen carefully several times before she could understand what he was saying. "I, I have some special hangover cure in my pocket, can you, can you get it for me?"

Chu Ling found the medicine as he asked and fed it to him. After taking the medicine, Pei Xingzhi suddenly felt sleepy and fell asleep leaning against Chu Ling. Chu Ling gently laid Pei Xingzhi on the sofa and couldn't help but find the drunkard, who was still rambling incoherently, somewhat amusing.

The two had just finished dinner outside when Chu Ling received a call from the bar owner—the bar was short-staffed and he needed to go back and help out temporarily.

As Chu Ling hung up the phone, hesitating between skipping work and finding Pei Xingzhi another place to kill time, Pei Xingzhi spoke first, asking him to take him here.

Although he was happy that Pei Xingzhi would take the initiative to help him solve his troubles, the bar where he worked was really not a respectable place. He was entrusted to take care of Pei Xingzhi, and if something happened to him after he took him there, he would have a hard time explaining it to his client.

Chu Ling offered a few words of advice, but Pei Xingzhi wouldn't listen to what he thought was a gentle suggestion. He even shamelessly said that if Chu Ling could go there, why couldn't he? This only strengthened his resolve to follow Chu Ling.

Chu Ling was too lazy to argue with him. He was already looking forward to watching the show, and since Pei Xingzhi was coming, Chu Ling brought him along.

Pei Xingzhi didn't disappoint him. He had been approached dozens of times in less than half an hour since he came in. He's the kind of person who can't refuse, and he'll drink any drink offered to him. Before Chu Ling could even notice, he was already this drunk.

Chu Ling took a blanket and covered his face with it, then thought for a moment, pulled the blanket off, took a picture, and sent it over.

Anyway, his job was just to stall for time; what happened to Pei Xingzhi was none of his business.

Seeing that it was almost time, Chu Ling shook Pei Xingzhi to wake him up. Pei Xingzhi turned over, brushed aside his disheveled hair, rubbed his eyes, and slowly sat up.

The bar lights were dim and ambiguous, and the light shone on his face, revealing Pei Xingzhi's full appearance.

Chu Ling has a slight case of face blindness, and Pei Xingzhi's image in his eyes has always been blurry in the past, but in this instant, Pei Xingzhi in front of him suddenly became clear.

Pei Xingzhi's face was almost too beautiful. He looked like a highly poisonous yet alluring poppy, making everyone who wanted to get close to him pay the price.

But Chu Ling knew exactly how naive the boy in front of her was. With just a little kindness, he would stubbornly believe you were a good person. Such a handsome face, yet such a kind heart—Chu Ling suddenly understood Xie Nanyi a little.

If it were him, he probably wouldn't be able to resist doing it too.

But a transaction is a transaction after all. Chu Ling quickly pulled himself out of his wandering thoughts and helped the person up with a smile.

"How are you?"

"My head hurts a little." Pei Xingzhi said truthfully, rubbing his head. He only remembered that after the two finished eating, Chu Ling said he was going to work. When Pei Xingzhi heard that an Omega was working in a bar, he immediately decided to come with him. At least if anything happened, he could protect Chu Ling.

But as soon as he entered, he was surrounded by a group of people and forced to drink a lot of alcohol. After that, he couldn't remember much.

"You just drank a lot of alcohol, it's normal to have a headache," Chu Ling said, gently massaging his acupoints. "It's getting late, let's go back."

The two went out in the afternoon, and when they returned it was already dark. Pei Xingzhi doesn't drink much, and even though he had taken medicine, he was still not in good condition. He was practically hanging on Chu Ling, relying entirely on Chu Ling's movements to move the distance.

"I'll never drink this much again, or I'll be homeless like those drunkards!" After vomiting countless times, Pei Xingzhi clutched his stomach and swore fiercely. Chu Ling glanced at him hesitantly, a meaningful expression suddenly appearing on her face, which was hidden by her scarf.

"Xiao Zhi, it's best not to say any more."

Pei Xingzhi, vomiting uncontrollably, didn't notice any of this and assumed Chu Ling was just trying to comfort him. He waved to Chu Ling not to worry, saying he could still walk normally, but before he could finish speaking, he collapsed again. He tried to walk independently several times, but failed each time, and finally had to struggle back to his dormitory with Chu Ling's help.

Standing in front of the dormitory door, Pei Xingzhi suddenly felt Chu Ling glance at him with what seemed like pity. Pei Xingzhi didn't understand the meaning of that look, but the next second, after the dormitory door opened, Pei Xingzhi understood everything.

His bed collapsed.

His bed collapsed.
