Chapter 1...was it a mistake?

"What are you still hesitating for? Hurry up and make your move!" The cold, mechanical voice rang out, urging Lin Yang, who was still hesitating despite gripping the dagger tightly.

Even though the mechanical voice was right there in her head, Lin Yang sometimes felt that the voice came from another distant world.

It was stifling, heavy, and threatening, forcing Lin Yang to complete one task after another, making her increasingly unlike herself.

"What? You can't bring yourself to do this last task? You've completed all the previous tasks cleanly and efficiently, and you're still short of these crucial 20 points. Are you going to give up all your previous efforts? Don't you want to return to your original world healthy and well? The unconscious person in front of you is a scumbag who harmed the owner of this body. What is there for you to pity or even hesitate to do?" Seeing that Lin Yang was still hesitant to make a move, the mechanical voice continued to question him one after another.

Every word struck at Lin Yang's heart, making it hard for her to breathe.

She tightened her grip on the dagger, pulled her hat brim down, obscuring most of her vision, as if this would allow her to escape her current predicament.

Seeing that she still refused to answer, and the dagger that was supposed to fall did not move at all, a dull mechanical voice slowly sounded again, mixed with a hint of sarcasm, "Could it be... that you've fallen for him?"

As if his thoughts had been guessed, Lin Yang's grip on the dagger loosened weakly, almost causing it to slip to the ground.

The panic lasted only a few seconds, and Lin Yang quickly returned to normal.

"Hoo..." Lin Yang let out a long sigh, switched hands to grip the dagger, and used the right hand that had left marks from gripping the dagger to pull down his hood, revealing a pair of eyes that seemed neither bright nor dark. They weren't particularly spiritual, but they had a unique attraction that could easily captivate you with just one glance.

The love hotel room where Lin Yang was staying had specially designed dim and ambiguous lighting, with one lamp after another neatly distributed on the ceiling.

The lights mingled and fell on Lin Yang's face, highlighting her stunning beauty. As an actress, she has an oval face unlike most actresses with melon-shaped faces; the flesh on her cheeks is evenly distributed, neither too much nor too little.

Like most female celebrities, her nose is small and straight, and her lips are thin and not thick. Without lipstick, her natural lip color is revealed, a light cherry pink.

Only those eyes, paired with that oval face, allowed her to win the title of number one in the entertainment industry, where so many beauties abound.

Those were cunning fox eyes. Logically speaking, fox eyes are the best match for an oval face, but now they fell on Lin Yang's oval face, not only did they not feel out of place, but they even added to her beauty.

"Like him? How could that be? The original owner of this body was already fooled by this scumbag once. How could I be so stupid as to fall for him again?" Lin Yang finally spoke, her voice slightly hoarse, perhaps because she had been drinking.

Before the voice in her head could answer, she continued, "If I kill him, all of this will be over, right?"

"Yes." Without any further words, the mechanical voice in his mind only gave Lin Yang these two words in response to her question.

Lin Yang didn't say anything more, but instead played with the dagger in her hand. As she turned it, the cold light of the dagger reflected off the white wall.

At the same time, as if to set off the dark clouds in the night sky, a white flash of lightning suddenly streaked across the sky, causing a deafening roar.

Lin Yang's gaze, which had been avoiding hers, finally fell on the unconscious man on the bed. The sudden thunder and lightning had failed to wake him; he was still breathing steadily, completely unaware of the impending danger.

Just a moment ago, Lin Yang and the man in front of her were chatting and laughing, deeply in love. His deep, dark eyes were fixed on her, his Adam's apple bobbing up and down, as if he was suppressing something.

"Yangyang, I like you, I really like you. Let's not get a divorce, okay?" The magnetic voice was mixed with a hint of pleading, making it impossible for anyone to refuse.

She tilted her head back, her eyes crinkling, and smiled as she replied, "Okay."

Both of them had drunk some wine. She didn't know if Xu Chengzhi was drunk when he said those things, but anyway, she was.

Then, taking advantage of his increased intoxication, Xu Chengzhi took her to a so-called "love room," saying it was to make up for the feelings they had missed before.

Then, after showering, Xu Chengzhi, wearing a bathrobe, staggered out of the bathroom, leaning against the wall.

He shook his head vigorously, hoping to drive away the effects of the drug, but it was all in vain.

Before he could even question Lin Yang about what she had put in the drink, or why Lin Yang seemed perfectly fine after drinking it, everything went black and he passed out completely.

Lin Yang, still wearing a smiling face, walked barefoot step by step toward Xu Chengzhi. "Xu Chengzhi, I gave you a chance, but you didn't give me one."

Otherwise, he wouldn't have announced his intention to divorce her when he knew she had fallen for him.

She was almost ready to give up on this damn mission of revenge, thinking she might as well grit her teeth and accept her fate of being defeated by Xu Chengzhi once again.

But a scumbag is still a scumbag.

Today, the news is everywhere about her divorce from Xu Chengzhi; almost everyone knows about it.

She was the last to know.

For no reason, without cause, they even avoided her.

These are things only a scumbag would do.

I remember in my previous life, the real Lin Yang fell into the hands of that scumbag Xu Chengzhi. Her family was destroyed, her reputation was ruined, she was rendered a vegetable, and she had to listen to him and another mistress having fun in her hospital room all day long. In the end, she was so angry that she died.
