"Xu Chengzhi, Brother Xu," the female lead replied while eating her fruit salad.
This was the first time Lin Yang had heard this person's name, and for some reason, it sounded strangely familiar.
It feels like I've heard this person's name a long, long time ago, across time.
It's like I've never heard of it before.
I remember that day was during the hottest part of summer. Lin Yang was playing a palace maid. A heavy black wig was piled on top of her head, and sticky sweat clung to her cheeks.
My makeup was smudged because it was wet.
She brushed aside the heavy wig and bangs, and then lifted the loose hair sticking to her cheeks, which made her feel much better.
A gentle breeze blew intermittently. Lin Yang leaned against the wall, its plaster peeling off the bricks. She lost interest in memorizing the two lines of dialogue and her attention was quietly drawn to the name Xu Chengzhi.
"I heard he's gotten tired of being a singer and wants to try something different. It's a pity I couldn't get tickets for his last concert." The person who spoke to the female lead sighed, looking regretful.
"Take another route? I heard his family is quite wealthy. Is he going home to inherit the family business?" The female lead, tired of eating salad, put down her fork.
"I don't know." The person who spoke shrugged. "Brother Xu's company does a very good job of keeping things confidential. They haven't revealed a single thing so far."
The female lead rubbed her tired cheeks and said, "If Brother Xu could switch careers and become an actor, that would be great. Hahaha, then I would have the chance to act alongside him."
"A singer turning into an actor, that's quite a leap, isn't it? He wasn't a professional singer to begin with. If he suddenly becomes an actor and his acting isn't good, who knows how much criticism he'll receive." The person who spoke shook their head, denying the female lead's guess.
Before the lead actress could say anything more, the director started shouting through a megaphone, "All departments, get ready to shoot the next take!"
The two gossipy people stopped, and the female lead casually covered the vegetable salad box before getting up and heading to the filming location.
Lin Yang put down the script, let down her bangs, and silently went to be the background for this scene.
While filming, she kept thinking about the words the person who struck up the conversation said—"The last concert."
For some reason, she kept telling herself that she wanted to go.
The scene in the dream shifted again, and the filming location of the Qing Dynasty drama disappeared, slowly revealing a bustling scene with crowds of people.
Like a sea of orange light sticks waving in the crowd, they formed a sea of orange, telling the person singing love songs on stage that his fans were below, and they would always support him.
One moving song after another, time flew by, and before we knew it, it was time to say goodbye.
Xu Chengzhi on the stage took the microphone that was fixed on the stand and held it in his hand.
He has always been a man of few words since his debut, and when faced with a farewell scene, he is even more at a loss for words.
He memorized the farewell speech the company wrote for him in one glance, but when it came time to speak, he was speechless.
His Adam's apple bobbed several times, and his lips and teeth opened and closed, but apart from the soft breathing that was amplified through the microphone, no other sound could be heard.
"Go Orange Juice!!" The fans below the stage made a circle with their palms and shouted loudly towards the stage to cheer on their beloved idol.
One person spoke up, and the rest of the fans were moved, shouting together, "Go Orange Juice!!"
After several farewells, they choked up several times, reluctant to part.
Even with their voices hoarse from shouting, they still wanted to send endless courage to the person on stage who was like a sun in their hearts.
"Go for it!! Orange Juice, fly bravely, Orange Juice will always be with you!!" The people below the stage shouted the slogan in unison.
Orange juice represents both him and them.
