The cramped little room contained only a table and two chairs.
There was also a high-wattage light bulb on the table, which shone brightly on people's faces.
"Creak—" The old-fashioned iron gate was pulled open with a jarring sound.
"Brother Xu." Upon hearing someone enter, the seated man immediately stood up and greeted the newcomer respectfully.
Xu Chengzhi strode into the interrogation room, giving a slight nod to the person who greeted him.
Then his gaze fell on the woman whose face was being illuminated by the desk lamp.
The first time I saw her, she was wearing a mask and her baseball cap was pulled down very low, so her face wasn't visible at all.
Now, with the mask and hat removed, his face is completely exposed to Xu Chengzhi's view.
She looked to be just over 18, with a bit of baby fat on her cheeks, and she didn't seem to have any signs of being out in the world. She must be a girl who is still in school.
However, her eyes, those that stared directly into his gaze, were not as innocent as someone her age might expect.

She was not afraid at all when faced with Xu Chengzhi's direct scrutiny.
"What did you find out?" Xu Chengzhi withdrew his gaze and glanced at the interrogator in the blue uniform.
He remembered the girl's appearance; it was ordinary, but the emotions in her eyes were complex and ever-changing.
He's the kind of person who almost never makes a point of remembering what someone looks like.
They are either the recipients of his gratitude or the targets of his revenge.
Clearly, the girl who threw sulfuric acid on Lin Yang was the latter.
“She…refused to talk.” The person in charge of the interrogation hesitated for a moment before stammering an answer to Xu Chengzhi’s question.
Xu Chengzhi glanced coldly, his peripheral vision catching sight of the notebook in the hands of the person in charge of the interrogation.
Sure enough, it was completely blank.
"Hmph." Xu Chengzhi snorted coldly and walked closer to the table.
He wanted to see just how incompetent the interrogator really was.
Or is this girl just too stubborn?
“I will conduct the trial myself.” Xu Chengzhi walked to the table, and the man in the blue uniform quickly stood up and made room for him.
Upon hearing this, the girl remained unfazed and even burst out laughing, openly mocking Xu Chengzhi's bluffing tone.
The guy in the blue uniform who had given up his seat couldn't help but break out in a cold sweat, muttering to himself, "This ungrateful girl is doomed."
Half an hour later.
Xu Chengzhi came out of the cramped little house and straightened his sleeves.
Before leaving, he specifically instructed the guards, "Don't find her a doctor. Just let her stay here and let her rot as she pleases. Just pretend that no one ever came in."
After he left, the iron gate rattled in the wind.
Through the iron gate, one could vaguely see a girl lying on the ground.
Her disheveled hair covered her entire face, making it impossible to see her features.
He lay on the ground, barely alive, motionless.
His body was covered in black and red wounds.
If someone were to lift her hair, they could clearly see that her entire mouth was so rotten that the shape of her lips was completely unrecognizable.
The iron gate slammed shut and was locked; no one dared to enter again.
No one noticed that there was an empty bottle lying in the corner.
If Lin Yang were there, she would definitely recognize that it was the bottle containing sulfuric acid that had injured her.
Xu Chengzhi simply used the same methods against him.
