Chapter 303

Time flies, and the wedding day of Lin Yang and Xu Chengzhi is getting closer and closer. After living a peaceful and warm life for too long, God always likes to throw in a little episode to spice things up.

Lin Yang's drama wrapped up filming today, and there will be a celebration banquet after work.

As everyone in the dressing room gradually left, Lin Yang was still carefully removing her makeup.

"Sister Lin, are you done yet? Ouch, my stomach hurts a little. Xuanxuan, come with me to the toilet. Sister Lin, come find us in the toilet when you're done. Ouch, Xuanxuan, hurry up!" Zhou Ya clutched her stomach and urged Xie Xuanfei to accompany her to the toilet.

After giving Lin Yang, who was still removing her makeup in front of the mirror, a few words of advice, the two hurriedly left.

The dressing room, which was neither too big nor too small, was now empty except for Lin Yang.

Silent and still.

Lin Yang pressed a thick cotton pad soaked in gentle makeup remover onto her face. After removing the last bit of eye makeup residue, she threw the cotton pad into the trash can.

Lin Yang stood up slightly, holding a bullet-shaped lipstick in her hand. Just as she opened her mouth to apply it, the phone on the table rang.

The lipstick spun back into place. Lin Yang put the cap back on, tossed the lipstick onto the table, and picked up her vibrating phone.

I glanced at the note and swiped right to answer the call.

It was Xu Chengzhi calling.

"Yangyang, where are you?" Before Lin Yang could even speak, Xu Chengzhi anxiously asked her where she was.

This was the first time in so many days that Lin Yang had heard anxiety in Xu Chengzhi's voice.

"I'm in the dressing room on set, what's wrong?" Lin Yang frowned slightly, looking a little confused.

"Are you alone?" Xu Chengzhi heard a faint echo in Lin Yang's voice and guessed that she was alone in an empty room.

Lin Yang could see the entire dressing room behind her through the makeup mirror in front of her.

Looking around, there was no one else in the dressing room except her.

Unconsciously gripping her phone tighter, Lin Yang answered softly, "Yes, I'm all alone right now. What's wrong?"

Xu Chengzhi's anxious tone, conveyed through the phone, clearly affected Lin Yang.

She stared at the makeup mirror, nervously swallowing hard.

"Yangyang, get out of the crowd and leave that place quickly." Xu Chengzhi said on the other end of the phone, the sound of the key turning in the car filling the air. "I'm coming over now, you get out of there quickly."

"Why? What happened?" Lin Yang held her phone between her left shoulder and left ear, freeing her hand to stuff the lipsticks, cushion compacts, and other items on the table into her bag.

The sound of the car starting came through Xu Chengzhi's phone. He tried to sound calm and took a deep breath. "Yangyang, the police called to tell me that Ex has disappeared."

Lin Yang's hand, which was gripping her bag, stopped. Thinking she hadn't heard him, she asked, "What did you say? Ex disappeared? What do you mean? A prison break or something?"

“Yangyang, the police told me that the surveillance footage didn’t show him escaping. The surveillance camera happened to break down at that point, and after it was fixed, they said that Ex was no longer in that cell. According to the inmates’ testimonies, no one saw him leave the room, and his door was intact. In their words, he just vanished into thin air.” Xu Cheng drove at breakneck speed, honking the horn incessantly.

"You suspect me?" Lin Yang gripped the chain of her handbag tightly, not daring to speculate any further.

“Yes, I suspect this isn’t that simple. If Ex escapes from prison, I suspect he will definitely come looking for you. So, Yangyang, run, run as fast as you can.” Xu Chengzhi stated his conjecture.

"Tap-tap—"

"beep--"

The moment Lin Yang finished speaking, the sound of her phone being smashed came from Lin Yang's end to Xu Chengzhi's end.

The call was then disconnected.

"Yangyang, hello? Yangyang! Yangyang! Damn!" Xu Chengzhi made another call, but no one answered, only a busy tone.

He was so anxious that he couldn't help but swear, stepped on the gas, and felt a sudden sense of unease.
