Chapter 11

Chapter 11

After Nie Wuhen finished speaking, he walked to a big tree and continued to practice with his eyes closed.

Bai Yi was a little slow to react, looked at Cassel and said, "What did he give you? It couldn't be food, right?"

Cassel lowered his head and opened the package. Sure enough, there was a pile of cakes and candied haws that looked like flowers, as well as many other things that Cassel couldn't name.

He cheered and nodded vigorously to Bai Yi, then protected the package like a treasure. He found a place and was about to take a bite of the candied haws, but stopped, rummaged through it, took out the one he thought was the most delicious, and handed it to Bai Yi.

Bai Yi was stunned for a moment, but then waved his hand awkwardly: "I don't need to eat. You keep it for yourself. I don't know if this little bit of food can sustain you until you get out."

Cassel seemed to understand, but he still lowered his head and ate the candied haws. He didn't care at all whether the two of them were connected by a chain.

The fog was getting thicker and thicker, and even the nearby trees were hard to see clearly. Cassel was a little scared. He ate something in a hurry, then ran to the fire and sat down next to Nie Wuhen.

Nie Wuhen glanced at him and said nothing.

Cassel swallowed, clenched the package in his hand, and tried hard to put on a gentle smile. But then he remembered that Nie Wuhen had just said that he was ugly, and he hurriedly stopped smiling. Finally, biting her lip, she asked Nie Wuhen expectantly: "Will you protect me?"

Nie Wuhen said nothing.

Bai Yi teased him: "If you want Sword Master to protect you, it's easy. Think about what you can offer in exchange."

"……ah."

Cassel looked over blankly and met Bai Yi's smiling eyes. He felt a little panicked for some reason. He pinched his fingers and tried hard to think what good things he could exchange for a demon whose magic power was sealed.

But alas, there was nothing.

Helpless, Cassel had to ask in a low voice: "Then, can you give me back my magic power?"

Nie Wuhen still didn't say anything.

Cassel was deflated. He picked at the tentacles on his forehead and pulled hard. The pain spread from the tentacles throughout his body, and Cassel's eyes turned red instantly.

He lowered his head and rubbed his eyes silently. After hesitating for a moment, Cassel complained in a low voice: "He clearly said that he would protect my life... Why did he lie to me again..."

His voice was too soft and Bai Yi didn't hear clearly. He subconsciously asked him what he said, but Cassel just hummed and refused to speak again.

In the second half of the night, Cassel was sleeping soundly when he suddenly felt someone pulling his clothes. He reached out and pulled his clothes impatiently: "Don't disturb my sleep."

Someone is still pulling!

Cassel was angry. He opened his eyes, pulled the hem of his clothes over, stood up and was about to see who it was, when he saw Bai Yi looking at him with a smile on his face: "You're awake."

Cassel was startled, but he didn't dare to get angry, so he could only say "hmm" in frustration: "I want to sleep, don't disturb me."

"The fog is too thick. Nie Wuhen just went to check if there are any monsters. It's not a good idea for us to stay here." Bai Yi held the fan, looked at Cassel, and said kindly, "Shall we go? I'll take you to find him. Maybe he's out."

Cassel felt a little strange. He always felt that the atmosphere around him was a little weird, and there was an indescribable smell in the air.

He blinked, tilted his head and looked at Bai Yi, and asked in confusion: "Why are you pale?"

Yeah, it’s white. His face was so pale that it could no longer be described as pale. It was completely lifeless. Although he was smiling, the smile was a little stiff. It's like a skeleton covered with human skin, being placed in a fixed posture.

"Yeah."

A sudden gust of wind blew over, bringing bone-chilling cold. Before Cassel could react, he saw Bai Yi approaching him, and the bamboo fan brushed across his cheek. Cassel subconsciously stepped back a little, but bumped into someone.

"!!!!"

Looking back, he saw another Bai Yi smiling and greeting him: "Hello."

The reaction was a bit slow. If this person is Bai Yi, then who was the person who just pulled his clothes?

Cassel was so frightened that he stiffened his neck and didn't even have the courage to turn around. He just screamed and ran away, crawling. The wings of the devil behind him were flapping like wind, but he just kept walking in the same place.

Nie Wuhen had a headache, so he picked up Cassel by the collar. The two looked at each other, one calm but with a mixture of disgust, the other with snot and tears all over his face, but the latter kept trying to get into his arms!

"Two people!" Cassel trembled and couldn't even speak clearly. He tried hard to explain what he had just seen, but he didn't know how to describe it with his culture. "I saw two identical people!"

"Don't move," Nie Wuhen pulled down his arm and said, "There are hallucinogenic elements in the mist. What happened just now was fake. Haven't you seen it before?"

Cassel's eyes were blurred with tears. He rubbed his hand that was pulled off by Nie Wuhen with a sense of grievance and shook his head: "Barbatos never took me to the battlefield... I have never seen it."

Nie Wuhen: “…” Talking nonsense again.

Cassel trembled as he reached out his hand, trying to pull his clothes again, but Nie Wuhen mercilessly peeled them off: "Wipe your tears."

Cassel sat on the ground, huddled into a ball. He wiped his tears and glanced boldly at Bai Yi, only to see that the latter was smiling with his eyes narrowed.

"How can you be so scared?" Bai Yi came over, bent down and looked at Cassel, put his gray fingertips on Cassel's shoulders, and said, "If you really meet him, what will you do?"

Cassel felt a cool breeze blowing, and he swallowed uncomfortably, as if to cheer himself up, and loudly retorted: "It's all fake. Nie Wuhen just said that there are hallucinogenic elements in the mist, don't scare me again--"

He looked up at Bai Yi, wanting to prove his position, but he watched helplessly as the man in front of him smiled strangely, the skin on his face falling off like light and shadow, revealing his white bones.

"Are you scared?"

Kassel was in an icy situation.

At the critical moment, he heard the sound of a sword being unsheathed, and the cold sword passed through the middle of the two men. Cassel was so close that he could almost see his own frightened eyes on the blade.

Cassel felt a sharp pain in his shoulder and felt a huge force pulling him to the side. He was so frightened that his legs went limp and he couldn't stand for a while. He fell to the ground with a thud and his mouth was full of dirt.

Nie Wuhen felt that he didn't use any strength at all: "..." But he had no time to react, because the bone monster had already attacked him, and Nie Wuhen raised his sword to meet it.

Bai Yi reached out to help Cassel, but Cassel looked like he had seen a ghost. Even the antennae on his forehead were shaking, and the wings behind him were shrinking. He crawled back as hard as he could, and he collapsed and cried with sobs: "Are you real or fake?"

"Really, really, it's genuine!" Bai Yi reached out and pulled the man up, took out a handkerchief, wiped his face roughly, and then before Cassel could react, stuffed a pill into his mouth.

Cassel subconsciously wanted to vomit it out, but Bai Yi covered his mouth and forced him to swallow it.

It was dry and bitter. Cassel coughed hard. After a long while, he asked Bai Yi in a low voice what kind of pill it was.

Bai Yi smiled faintly and said nothing.

The fighting over there is fierce. Seeing that he was gradually losing the upper hand, the bone monster roared unwillingly, and with a "crack", he tore off his ribs and threw them into the air, where they were chopped into pieces by the Wuwang Sword and turned into dust that scattered all over the place.

Immediately afterwards, countless identical bone monsters appeared out of thin air. Like wolves that had been hungry for three days, they saw bloody meat and rushed over, some even rushed towards Cassel and Bai Yi!

Cassel was so frightened that he was about to run away, but he saw Bai Yi standing in front of him calmly, opening his closed fan and waving it lightly. With his magic power, it instantly swept across the entire bone monster like a wave.

Cassel opened his eyes wide and stared in amazement.

The whole process takes no more than half an incense stick. Nie Wuhen stood in front of Cassel, wiped the dust off the Wuwang Sword carefully, and said: "Don't chase after a desperate enemy."

Bai Yi closed his fan with a smile: "Don't worry, brother, I understand."

It was daybreak. Light shone through the layers of fog. The sun in the sky was wearing makeup and covered with rosy clouds. It half sat on the clouds, revealing half of its face, as if it wanted to say something but couldn't.

Not far away, in the bushes, an old red dress was dropped on the ground. It was probably dropped by the bone monster just now.

Nie Wuhen lifted up the clothes with his sword. At that moment, with a clanging sound, all the hairpins and beads wrapped on the clothes fell down and rolled to Cassel's feet.

Cassel hurriedly took a step back and hid behind Nie Wuhen, not daring to say a word.

"Wedding dress," Nie Wuhen glanced at Cassel, then set his eyes on the old clothes and said, "It seems to be related to sacrifice."

Bai Yi squatted down, picked up the hairpin on the ground, blew it, and the dust dissipated, revealing a hint of gold, on which were carved ancient sacrificial patterns.

"Weren't all the brides sacrificed in Zhaojia Village drowned by the merman?" Bai Yi wondered, "Why did they appear here? Could it be that they escaped? That's unlikely, or -"

He was startled and looked at Nie Wuhen with narrowed eyes.

Nie Wuhen spoke indifferently. He took back the Wuwang Sword and let the wedding dress fall. "It is possible that the merman left the people here. If I remember correctly, according to the map, follow this road and go straight ahead, and you will reach Zhaojia Village."

"But we've been walking for so long and still haven't gotten out," Bai Yi said with a mocking tone, "That merman is really interesting. He didn't think he was doing a good deed by letting people go, but in the end, he still found a pile of bones."

Nie Wuhen said nothing. He turned around and looked at Cassel, who was twisting his fingers with his head down, and suddenly asked: "That day when you were taken away by the mermaid for sacrifice, did he say anything to you?"

Cassel's heart skipped a beat, but he didn't show it. He just shook his head and whispered no.

"Look up." Nie Wuhen ordered with his voice a few degrees colder.

Cassel's whole body stiffened. He bit his lip and looked up at Nie Wuhen. Nie Wuhen's shadow was reflected in his emerald green pupils, clearly, but full of fear.

Nie Wuhen asked again: "I really didn't say anything."

"No," Cassel said, "He just cut my wrist with his long nails and said I wasn't a pure yin character..."

As he was speaking, the crisp sound of bells resounded throughout the forest, and a girl approached slowly, singing.

"Beat the gongs and drums to celebrate the coming year, and bless him with good weather and good harvests in the coming year. However, the bride in the sacrifice is crying, while the people on the shore are laughing. I asked the bride why she was crying, and she said, in the end, it's a cup of yellow earth to offer to her parents."
