Chapter 3
Cassel was stunned. He accidentally knocked over the teacup and stepped back uncontrollably, but a pure aura that went against his will stopped him. Cassel's legs went limp and he fell to the ground. Before he could come to his senses, someone grabbed his neck.
He was forced to look up and look at the person in front of him in horror.
Nie Wuhen squinted his eyes and looked at him, his slender white fingertips groping for his tentacles, and when Cassel tried to dodge, he slightly increased his strength.
The air in his chest was completely deprived, and Cassel's cheeks soon turned red. He struggled uncontrollably, and even his tentacles shook and hit the back of Nie Wuhen's hand.
But for Nie Wuhen, this little bit of force was no less than a desperate struggle by a caught rabbit. It was a futile struggle.
Dark patterns grew on the back of Nie Wuhen's hand, like vines, extending to the area blocked by his sleeves. Even the Wuwang Sword on the table began to tremble, as if accusing something.
Nie Wuhen lowered his eyes, paused, pinched his flapping wings, then let go, stood up, and looked down at Cassel who kept coughing and crying, and asked: "It doesn't look like a demon. I have never seen a demon like you who can cultivate into a human form. So, are you a demon cultivator?"
Cassel coughed for a long time, tears and snot flowing out. He wiped them while backing away, not even daring to cry out loud. He could be sure of one thing, that the evil aura just now, like the aura of the devil and hell, came from the person in front of him.
He didn't understand why a person could possess the pure aura of an angel and at the same time control the evil aura of a demon.
His intuition told him that this person was terrifying.
"I don't want to ask a second time." Nie Wuhen lowered his head, staring at the dark lines on the back of his hand gradually disappearing, and continued, "Speak."
Cassel shuddered with fear. He shook his head quickly, choked up and said: "I don't understand what you are saying... I don't understand..."
Nie Wuhen said nothing.
Cassel didn't dare to provoke him. His ability to disguise as an angel disappeared. He had no mana at all. He could only curl up and repeat over and over again: "Everything I said is true...really. I don't know what magic cultivation is, I really don't know..."
Nie Wuhen lowered his body and approached the trembling Cassel, his fingertips resting on his neck again. Seeing that the man was about to retreat, he narrowed his eyes and looked up.
Cassel didn't even dare to move. It was an all too familiar feeling, as if he had returned to the devil's hell, met the eyes of the demon lord, and felt the oppression. He was forced to close his eyes, raised his chin, and exposed his most vulnerable neck.
Tears kept falling from the corners of his eyes, and even his shoulders were shaking.
Nie Wuhen seemed to have not expected him to be so obedient. After being surprised, he put his fingertips on Cassel's neck again.
Cassel was born white. In the devil's hell, there is no sun all day long, no light at all, and Kassel cannot be reached by it. The skin was like a freshly peeled egg, but at this moment, the surrounding area was blue and purple, which was really scary.
A white light flashed across Nie Wuhen's fingertips, and the next second, the purple pinch mark disappeared.
Nie Wuhen stood up and said to Cassel: "You are neither a demon nor a devil cultivator, so what are you?"
"Evil, devil," Cassel confessed, "I, I am a devil, not an angel."
"Evil, devil." Nie Wuhen put the two words on his lips and read them again, guessing that they were probably similar to "inner devil". I'm afraid that the cultivator has gone astray and let his inner demons out.
"What did you just see?"
Cassel suddenly felt creepy. He hurriedly crawled over, took Nie Wuhen's hand, put his chin on it, rubbed it flatteringly, and said: "I don't know anything."
Nie Wuhen pulled back his hand: "Get up."
Cassel wiped his tears and stood up quickly. He stood aside stiffly, his heart pounding. He looked uncontrollably at Bai Yi, who was still in confusion, and didn't dare to say another word.
Nie Wuhen held down the vibrating Wuwang Sword and patted Bai Yi: "Come back to your senses."
Bai Yi, who was still in a state of confusion, came back to his senses instantly. He looked at Nie Wuhen, pointed at him and said angrily: "You used me as a test subject. This obedient incense was made by me, how could there be any problem?"
"What about him?" Nie Wuhen regained his indifferent look, raised his chin and said, "Why is it useless to him?"
Bai Yi was speechless for a moment.
After a while, he muttered: "How could I know it would be useless to him..."
After that, he looked at Cassel who was lowering his head and wiping his tears. Then, his eyes fell on the broken teacup and he said strangely: "What's going on?"
Nie Wuhen answered simply: "I accidentally broke it."
As he was talking, the waiter knocked on the door and pushed it open with a smile. He was carrying a bunch of things, big and small, and brought them in, saying, "Sir, everything is here."
Nie Wuhen nodded: "Put the things here."
As he spoke, he took out another piece of gold from the space and handed it to the waiter. The waiter's eyes lit up. He took it with a smile, closed the door very tactfully, and asked: "Sir, please tell me what you want to ask. I will tell you everything I know!"
Bai Yi put the bottle away, and when he opened his fan, he resumed his cynical look and said, "I heard that Zhaojia Village sacrificed a bride to the South China Sea again. Isn't it said to bless good weather and good harvests? Why did the family that sacrificed this year get wiped out?"
"So that's why," the waiter standing beside the two of them said openly, "I heard about it too. The Zhao family does have a custom of offering sacrifices, saying that as long as a bride with a pure Yin horoscope is offered every year, the village and town will be guaranteed to have good weather and good harvests. But this year is different. The village chief did choose a bride with a clean background, but somehow, on the day of the sacrifice, the bride ran away!"
"That's not all, but the village chief is really stupid. He actually found a man with the same horoscope as the bride and sacrificed him!"
"That's right. It directly angered the God of the South China Sea! That night, he wiped out the man's family and cut off his head and threw it in front of the village chief's door. I heard that there was a blood letter written on the ground, saying that they would give him three more days, otherwise, they would kill everyone in Zhaojia Village!"
The waiter spoke without hesitation, "Now, everyone in Zhaojia Village is in danger and is busy running away. Only the village chief is still persistently looking for a person with a pure Yin horoscope. Unfortunately, there is no one. Now is the last day. I'm afraid that Zhaojia Village will no longer exist."
Nie Wuhen was holding a sword, leaning against the door, with his eyes lowered, not knowing what he was thinking about.
Bai Yi frowned, rubbed the teacup, and did not speak immediately.
Only Cassel was standing aside, cautiously huddled in a corner, chewing a candied haws with his head down. He didn't understand what the waiter was talking about sacrifice or bride. Barbatos didn't tell him.
He began to miss the cold voice at the beginning. I also feel a little regretful that I shouldn't have acted on impulse and destroyed that thing. Cassel is now confused and doesn't understand anything.
The candied haws are so sour.
Cassel took a bite and swallowed it hard, then glanced at the fragrant flower-like thing on the table. It must be delicious.
He sniffed and glanced at Nie Wuhen stealthily, only to meet the latter's thoughtful gaze.
Cassel was silent for a moment, trying to retract his gaze and stare at his toes.
The waiter was sent away by Bai Yi. He closed the door again, sat on the chair, shook the fan in his hand, and said: "So, we just need to go there tomorrow and catch the monster that made trouble in the South China Sea."
"It's not appropriate," Nie Wuhen frowned and said, "Our goal is to capture the leader of the monster. If it turns out to be a bunch of small soldiers or crab generals, even if we catch them, it won't be of much use. If we're not careful, we might even alert the enemy."
"That's what you said," Bai Yi poured a cup of warm water and followed Nie Wuhen's meaning, "but where can we find a pure Yin person to act as a bride? Who is willing to risk their life? The waiter just said that the heads of the men who pretended to be brides were cut off. It's really cruel."
Nie Wuhen looked at it for a while, and suddenly added: "It is indeed cruel. But if this matter is not resolved, it will only be more cruel. In this case, why not just find someone at random to confuse the audience, how about it?"
Bai Yi paused and said: "Brother, this is not a good idea. How can a decent sect just randomly find someone?"
"Whether it's the world or my master, what they want is the result. Who cares about the process?" Nie Wuhen said coldly, "Besides, it's just sacrificing one person. He should feel honored."
Bai Yi stared at him blankly: "Brother, your inner demon..."
Nie Wuhen seemed to have just come to his senses. He pursed his lips and did not respond.
"Forget it." Bai Yi took out a bunch of bottles and jars from the space, and picked out a bunch and handed them to Nie Wuhen, "By the way, you should have finished the medicine to suppress your inner demon last time. I still have some here, you can keep it first."
Nie Wuhen took it and said, "Thank you."
The two of them continued in silence, with Cassel, who had been invisible, continuing to chew the candied haws silently, until he felt their eyes on him and his body stiffened.
Cassel raised his head fearfully, holding the candied haws with only one stick left in his hand, met the gazes of the two men, and subconsciously shrank his head: "I, I didn't do anything."
Bai Yi smiled, handed the plum blossom cake over and asked, "Do you want to eat it?"
Cassel didn't dare to answer: "No, I don't want to."
"You think so," Bai Yi said, "your eyes can't deceive me. So, I'll get you whatever you want to eat. But you have to do me a favor, okay?"
Cassel wanted to refuse, but when he met Nie Wuhen's cold gaze and thought of what had just happened, he could only bite the bullet and agree.
He had no power to refuse.
Cassel watched Bai Yi go out. He didn't know what he was doing, but he saw Nie Wuhen take out the bottle of medicine that Bai Yi had just given him with an expressionless face.
As the charcoal fire in the basin burned, he watched Nie Wuhen throw all the medicine bottles into it. The flames spread wildly and soon burned everything to ashes.
Cassel swallowed and took two steps back.
Nie Wuhen took a piece of plum cake from the table and handed it to Cassel: "Eat."
Cassel didn't dare to resist at all, so he opened his mouth and took a bite. It was obviously sweet and should be a thousand or ten thousand times more delicious than the candied haws just now, but Cassel didn't even bother to think about it. He just felt that this pastry, at this moment, was even more bitter than the devil's water from hell.
Something slid down my face.
Cassel touched it.
It's tears.
