Chapter 39
Yuanqi Pavilion.
As soon as Cassel and Nie Wuhen entered the room, all the doors and windows slammed shut. For a moment, Cassel and Nie Wuhen were the only ones in the huge room.
Cassel felt his shoulders sink, and before he could come to his senses, he watched the bright red blood flow down the corners of Nie Wuhen's mouth, flowing more and more.
Nie Wuhen could no longer hold back and spat out all the blood he hadn't swallowed. In an instant, it had dyed Cassel's white clothes red.
"Nie Wuhen!"
Cassel's voice was trembling as he called him. He helped Nie Wuhen sit down and leaned over to wipe the blood from the corner of his mouth, but the more he wiped, the more blood came out, just like his tears, which could never be wiped away.
"It's okay," Nie Wuhen adjusted his breath, swallowed all the blood again, and said, "Don't cry."
Cassel wiped his eyes vigorously and ran to look for various pills - Bai Yi had placed all kinds of pills with him. Although there were words written on them, Cassel didn't recognize them.
He could only take them all at once, squatting in front of Nie Wuhen, and asking him with sobs which one could heal him.
Nie Wuhen swallowed another mouthful of blood. The taste of rust in his mouth made him feel a little nauseous. The smell of blood began to emerge in his chest again. He could no longer hold it back and coughed intermittently. All the blood he had swallowed before spurted out at this moment.
Cassel was shaking with fear. He cried and called Nie Wuhen's name, holding Nie Wuhen's hand tightly. After realizing that he still had some magic power, he instinctively transferred magic power to him, but the effect was not as good as he had imagined.
It's like there's a heavy rainstorm, but you just use a basin to catch the water, so in the end there's only one basin.
Nie Wuhen's magic power was disordered, and Cassel didn't have his inner elixir, so he couldn't transfer it at all.
“Don’t be like this,” Nie Wuhen held Cassel’s hand behind his back and slowly placed it on his clothes. He wiped the blood off his palm stubbornly and said weakly, “I just need to rest for a while, just rest for a while…”
Cassel couldn't listen at all. He pulled his hand away and tried to run out to find Bai Yi, but Nie Wuhen didn't hold him back.
Coincidentally, as soon as Cassel opened the door, Bai Yi rushed over. When he saw the scene inside, his expression suddenly changed. He quickly took out the medicine and stuffed it into Nie Wuhen's mouth, and began to use his magic power to heal his wounds.
Cassel stood nearby, feeling uneasy. He looked at the two of them nervously, not daring to say a word, and even breathing more gently.
He watched Nie Wuhen's face slowly turn red, and watched Bai Yi feel his pulse, his expression gradually becoming solemn.
Cassel squatted beside Nie Wuhen, looking at Bai Yi's face. He was both expectant and afraid, and could only anxiously ask him what was wrong.
Bai Yi then set his gaze on Cassel, shock flashing in his eyes.
Cassel didn't understand and thought something had happened to Nie Wuhen. He curled his lips and started to sob. He suddenly rushed over and hugged the unconscious Nie Wuhen, crying and saying sorry. But what he didn't notice was that the pair of wings behind him were no longer as big as a palm, but were covered with white feathers, barely covering his shoulders.
The feathers are arranged neatly and of varying lengths, presenting a symmetrical beauty. The wing tips were slightly bent, wrapping around Cassel's body, with a few slender feathers hanging down and floating softly, and the whole thing glowing with a faint golden light.
Bai Yi had never seen such a situation before. He reached out to touch the feather in shock. The moment he touched it, he felt the extremely pure power. Just like the place with the most abundant spiritual energy on top of the clouds, there is not even a trace of demonic contamination.
Cassel hugged Nie Wuhen and cried. After crying for a while, he hiccupped and stopped. He felt that something was wrong, so he turned around and looked at Bai Yi, sobbing and asked him: "Why don't you speak?"
Bai Yi came back to his senses. He looked at Cassel and suddenly said, "Brother, did you suddenly come out of seclusion? Is that because of you?"
Cassel paused.
"It was my senior brother who captured the demon clan's left protector," Bai Yi said, "My senior brother tampered with Chen Zhufeng and tampered with his memory. He wanted to avenge you, right?"
Cassel hugged Nie Wuhen, lowered his eyes and said nothing.
"And you insisted that you didn't leave the mountain. It was also Senior Brother who told you to say that, right?"
Cassel bit his lip, wiped his tears, and said in a crying voice: "I'm sorry..."
Bai Yi tested and confirmed step by step. The person in front of him could not hide anything at all. Basically, he knew the answer as soon as he asked. Bai Yi tightly grasped the fan in his hand. He controlled his emotions and tried to be as gentle as possible, saying, "It's no use just saying sorry. We need to take some practical actions. Brother protects you wholeheartedly because he doesn't want you to be accused of disturbing the Sword Master from coming out of retreat. He protects you so much, so why don't you do something for him?"
Cassel grabbed Nie Wuhen's sleeve, looked up and asked Bai Yi what he could do.
"Simple." Bai Yi looked at the pair of wings behind him, his eyes focused on the pure power. He handed over a bottle of pills and said, "After you eat it, transfer mana to Brother. You have to make up for the cultivation he lost because of you, right?"
Nie Wuhen's dreams were fragmented and intermittent. The good memories are disappearing quietly, while the painful memories are ingrained into our bones. The inner demon stepped into his heart, clamoring and grinning, and flowed through his blood to his brain.
It leaned close to Nie Wuhen's ear and whispered: "Ah, didn't you claim to have boundless love? Didn't you kill those innocent people anyway?"
Nie Wuhen closed his eyes, intending to push the inner demon out of his mind, but the inner demon suddenly laughed, and the black energy around it surged. It turned into a solid entity, dispersing, flowing, and occupying bit by bit.
It said: "Aren't you going to cultivate the ruthless way? Then why would you kill Chen Zhufeng for just one person?"
Nie Wuhen: "He deserves to die. He committed all kinds of evil, including burning, killing, and looting..."
"Is that really the case?" The inner demon laughed, "Why didn't you kill him before?"
"You may be a forgetful person," Nie Wuhen said indifferently, "I have only been down the mountain twice recently. Both times I was on important matters. As for this time, I have killed him."
"You killed, but what about the people who saw you kill? Why did you kill them? Did they do something evil, or did they just see you kill someone?"
Nie Wuhen's voice turned cold: "It has nothing to do with you."
"No, that's not right," the inner demon smiled, leaned closer, and said quietly, "You're afraid that someone will come back alive to testify. You're afraid that your loved one...will die."
"roll."
The sharp sword cut through the black fog, the inner demon's voice paused, and then there was an even more unbridled laughter.
It said: "It's useless, it's useless! Whether it's your mother, your brother, or your sweetheart, they will all die tragically in front of you! Be it torn into pieces by five horses or cut into pieces by a knife..."
Black cracks spread across Nie Wuhen's palm. He lowered his head to wipe the sword, his eyes bloodshot.
"You are looking for death."
As soon as he finished speaking, a pure force was injected, holding up Nie Wuhen like a ship, and spreading out little by little with him as the center. The light is bright and the abyss is no longer there.
Nie Wuhen suddenly closed his eyes. The dark lines on the back of his hand disappeared at a speed visible to the naked eye, and the water splashed on his lapels and neck, making them wet.
He heard someone calling his name, asking him why he wasn't awake yet.
The light lifted him up, and Nie Wuhen returned to reality from his dream.
Cassel was lying beside Nie Wuhen's bed, playing with his fingers. Not far away, Bai Yi was holding a fan and leisurely boiling medicine.
The transfer of magic power almost exhausted Cassel's strength, and his wings slowly returned to their original state, bare, except that they had grown a little bit bigger.
Cassel slept for a whole day. When he woke up, he found that Nie Wuhen was still asleep. He dragged a stool and lay down beside Nie Wuhen's bed, humming and mumbling to himself. When Bai Yi came over, he ran over to ask Bai Yi when Nie Wuhen would wake up.
Bai Yi answered simply: "Soon."
Cassel asked again: "Is this for making medicine for Nie Wuhen?"
Bai Yi: "No. I made it for you. Your little wings are all dried up, so I am going to make them better for you. I am using the best medicine. You will be able to recover in less than three days and your feathers will grow back."
Cassel shook his head repeatedly. He is now satisfied with his wings. When he returns to the devil's hell, he won't have to be forced to pluck his feathers. Cassell couldn't ask for more.
"I don't want it," Cassel protested, "but if you give me a pill that will keep me from growing feathers forever, I'll be very grateful."
Bai Yi thought it was amazing: "What's so beautiful about bare wings? Wings with feathers are absolutely beautiful. You must have seen your wings with feathers, right?"
Cassel shook his head, but felt something was wrong, so he explained: "It's ugly anyway. I don't like it. I like the bald look. Like now." He reached out and touched his wings, and was stunned, "Why do I feel a little older?"
Bai Yi smiled awkwardly. He brought the boiled medicine and placed it on the table, saying, "I dare not compliment your taste."
As they were talking, they heard a cough behind them. They were startled and looked over subconsciously. They saw that Nie Wuhen had woken up at some point and was sitting on the bed, looking down at his palms, with confusion in his eyes that could not be hidden.
"My mana...what happened?"
Cassel rushed over excitedly and hugged Nie Wuhen: "You finally woke up!"
Nie Wuhen held onto Cassel's waist and managed to steady himself so as not to be knocked down by him. He patted Cassel on the back and wanted to ask something, but when he saw Bai Yi was there, he suppressed his concerned words.
He calmly squeezed Cassel's wrist and said, "I'm fine."
Bai Yi spread his hands and said, "I know what you want to ask, brother. It's nothing more than coming out of retreat early and doing so many things, but my magic power has increased instead of decreased."
Nie Wuhen thought that Immortal Shangyao had taken action, but on second thought, he felt something was wrong. How could his master come out from seclusion? He touched Cassel's pulse again and couldn't feel any trace of magic power. His face suddenly changed.
"It seems that Senior Brother has guessed it," Bai Yi said, "but he is fine. The only difference is that the evil aura we were chasing has completely disappeared."
The last sentence was Bai Yi communicating with Nie Wuhen through his mind, and Cassel couldn't hear it.
Bai Yi: And the purity and size of his magic power seem to be related to the feathers on his wings. Brother, do you understand what I mean?
Nie Wuhen frowned.
Cassel got out of his arms, touched his eyebrows, and asked suspiciously: "Why are you frowning suddenly? Are you feeling unwell?"
Nie Wuhen took his hand, looked down at him, and replied that it was okay.
Bai Yi felt that he was a bit redundant, so he disappeared without anyone noticing. For a moment, only Nie Wuhen and Cassel were left in the room.
Nie Wuhen looked at the bare wings behind him, then glanced at the steaming medicine on the table, and asked: "Why don't you take the medicine?"
