Chapter 5

The sedan was shaking, and Cassel didn't know how long it had been before it finally stopped. He heard someone chanting something loudly, "Please forgive my sins... I would like to present you with a bride... May the weather be good and the crops be good..."

Then, the sedan shook and seawater poured into it, soon submerging most of it. Cassel didn't expect that group of people wanted to drown him, and he struggled subconsciously, but the chains fixed everything, so no matter how much he shouted, it was of no use.

He heard the sounds of drums and gongs and celebration on the shore again. All of this made Cassel feel terrified. He struggled hard and cried loudly, but could only watch helplessly as the water drowned his body and his mouth and nose.

He couldn't breathe and his consciousness was slowly fading.

But on the shore, people are still celebrating.

South China Sea, Mermaid Palace.

A group of mermaids, wagging their tails and wearing bright red clothes, came to the palace in a grand procession, carrying a sedan chair.

The palace is magnificent. Countless pearls and agates were piled up as if they were free of charge, corals were used as decorations, shells were used as beds, and luminous pearls were used for lighting. Rows of mermaids cheered and welcomed the arrival of the bride.

Only on the high platform, on the pearl throne, a person wearing a crown, white hair and gorgeous clothes casually put down his wine glass and listened to the report from the people below.

“King, the one being sacrificed this time is a beauty, but…” The merman guard hesitated.

Ji Chuya shook his fish tail, and the golden scales turned up with the waves. Under the shining night pearl, it reflected the dazzling golden light. He leaned in the middle of the shell and asked: "What?"

The merman guard knelt down and said, "It seems to be a man again..."

Ji Chuya paused in wagging his tail, then sneered. He raised his hand and overturned the stone table in front of him. With a crackling sound, the shell ceramics and other tea cups were all broken into pieces on the ground.

The merman who was originally tasting the delicacies was startled, and hurriedly changed into human legs and knelt down: "Please forgive me, King."

"It seems that they still don't know the seriousness of the matter. Even ants dare to cause chaos." Ji Chuya waved his sleeves and walked forward. The golden fish tail gradually turned into two human legs with his movements. He walked forward and lifted the curtain of the sedan chair.

The person inside was sitting upright in a wedding gown, bound with iron chains, tightly tying him up.

Ji Chuya raised his eyebrows, he found it strange. I had never seen these chains before, but I saw them today. This is different from those who are willing. Look at the red spots on his wrists, he must have been forced.

Ji Chuya crushed the chains, lifted the veil, and led the people out. The bride's pale face was also revealed under the night pearl, as if she were dead and lifeless.

It's just this tentacle...

Ji Chuya stretched out his hand and pulled down the person who was rising due to buoyancy. Face to face with that person, he pinched the tentacles curiously, and his eyes gradually moved downwards. He saw the drooping little wings behind the person again, which were bare and ugly.

Demon or devil?

Ji Chuya looked at the mermaid guard beside him. The man kowtowed and said, "King, we know nothing."

"Take it back." Ji Chuya reached out and touched the bride, and took out a tiny bead from his pocket, which looked like a positioning tool in the world of cultivation.

He sneered, crushed the bead with his bare hands, and ordered: "Pass my order, all the wandering mermaids outside must return. They are not allowed to enter the human world without permission. If you dare to disobey, you will be skinned and your tendons pulled out."

The mermaids kowtowed and accepted the order: "We respect the king's will."

Cassel had a dream, a very long dream. He used his magical powers, disguised himself as an angel, and went to heaven. He took advantage of the angels' kindness, deceived them, and took them to a deserted place, intending to eat them.

But just as he opened his mouth and showed his fangs, he saw a brilliant light. And behind the light was God. God looked at him with pity, his eyes filled with pity, guilt, and too many emotions that Cassell couldn't understand.

He only heard God sighing softly and saying, "My child, come back."

Cassel sneered and said he didn't understand. How could the devil return to God's arms? Light and darkness have always been opposites.

He flapped his wings, turned and stepped into hell without reservation.

When Cassel opened his eyes again, what he saw was the huge bead. The bead was glowing and countless bubbles were rising. It was only later that he realized that he seemed to have fallen into the sea.

Cassel sat up. He was surprised that he was still alive, but also felt a little scared. He didn't want to try anymore because of the feeling of suffocation and helplessness. His wings were curled up and even his antennae were listless. Cassel touched the area near his jaw - there were gills there, allowing him to breathe in the water like a fish.

There seemed to be some sound outside. The rippling water made Cassel feel someone approaching. He clenched his fists, raised his head in fear, and saw... a mermaid!

Cassel was shocked. He thought he had returned to the devil's hell and was about to be happy, but when he saw the white hair, blue pupils, and the golden fish tail, he was instantly speechless.

Not a mermaid. A mermaid should have blonde hair, blue eyes and a silver tail, not the one in front of me. Cassel was sad again. What kind of illusion was this? When would Barbatos come to pick him up?

"What's wrong?" Ji Chuya swam over. The mermaid behind him handed him a soft couch. He leaned lazily on it, looking at the strange creature in front of him.

Green eyes... Low-level snake demons do have such green eyes, but how can snake demons have tentacles and wings behind them?

He's used to pretending to be pitiful... He doesn't look like a demon cultivator who can perform illusions. Ji Chuya thought that he couldn't sense any of his magic power at all.

So what species is this?

Cassel had no idea what the person in front of him was thinking. He hesitated, thinking of the previous experience, and whispered: "I thought you were a mermaid..."

"It's a strange name, I'll take it as a compliment." Ji Chuya swung his tail leisurely. He straightened the white hair hanging on his chest, put it on his little finger and circled it again and again, and continued to ask, "What's your name?"

"Casel."

Ji Chuya thought he had heard it wrong, so he paused while curling his hair and asked again.

Cassel was afraid that he would not believe him, so he quickly added: "I am not lying, my name is Cassel, really, I am not lying to you."

Ji Chuya looked at him for a while before saying, "Okay. I believe you. Let me ask you one more question. What species are you? Are you a transformed monster or some kind of demon cultivator?"

"Devil." Cassel's teeth chattered with fear when he thought of Nie Wuhen interrogating him. He didn't dare to lie in front of this strange fish. He was afraid that he would die again.

He hasn't returned home yet, and death in the illusion cannot bring him back to the devil's hell. He has to find another way to go home, such as listening to the two things that the mechanical and cold voice told him at the beginning.

So, he regretted it now, especially regretted that he should not have been so reckless in the beginning and destroyed the thing that called itself a system.

"Demon? I've never heard of it."

Ji Chuya searched his mind for a long time, but could only think of knowledge related to the inner demon. His eyes fell on the trembling Cassel. He curled the corners of his lips and suddenly felt that he had obtained an interesting toy.

"Did you see anyone when you came here?"

Cassel thought hard, it seemed that he only remembered Nie Wuhen. He thought so and said it out loud. Then, he saw the beautiful fish in front of him smile even more, come over and rub his head, and say to him: "Good boy."

Cassel couldn't change his nature from when he had magic power. Almost instinctively, he leaned over, rubbed his palm, and said flatteringly: "My pleasure."

But after finishing it, he felt something was wrong. Cassel hurriedly stepped back a little and looked timidly at Ji Chuya in front of him, his green eyes full of fear.

Ji Chuya withdrew his hand with a gentle smile on his face. Like an older brother next door, he gently asked Cassel what he wanted to eat and invited Cassel to go out and see the palace.

For a moment, Cassel felt like he had returned to the realm of angels. It was a pity that he had no magic power now, so he could not do anything, nor could he see anything. He just saw the fish waving in a daze, and someone sent a bunch of delicious food over.

Cassel thought it would be some delicious food, like what he had seen in the human world, but when the mermaids brought all the food to him, he found that they were all various raw and pickled fish and shellfish meats. Cassel felt a little disgusted.

He didn't want to eat, but he didn't dare to refuse. He had no right to throw a tantrum in a strange place, he could only accept it, because no one would coax him like Barbatos did. Even if he broke something, Barbatos would only touch his head gently and praise his strength.

Ji Chuya picked up a piece of shellfish and put it in Cassel's bowl, saying softly, "You haven't eaten for so long. Are you hungry? Come and try it."

Cassel nodded hastily. He picked up the two wooden sticks and tried to clamp something, but he couldn't do it because he didn't know how to use them. The more he failed, the more embarrassed he became. Finally, he glanced at Ji Chuya quietly and whispered, "I can't do it."

"..." Ji Chuya's smile froze. He never expected that someone couldn't even use chopsticks. Does the person in front of me eat with his hands?

He was silent for a moment, called someone over, and had someone cut a wooden stick with a sharp tip that should be able to pick up the fish. But when he saw Cassel's action that left him speechless, he fell silent again.

Seeing that he didn't say anything, Cassel felt a little nervous. He picked up the bowl and poured the fish fillet directly into his mouth.

vomit. Cassel almost vomited. But he forced himself to hold it back, swallowed it with great effort, then forced a smile and said to Ji Chuya: "It's delicious. Thank you."

Ji Chuya smiled wryly: "Really? Then eat more."

The fake smile was like no other he had ever seen. What's more, it's just a sacrifice sent by mortals. Ji Chuya was angry at what the Zhao villagers did, so naturally he didn't have a good face towards Cassel. What's more, for him, the current Cassel only serves to lure Nie Wuhen into the trap.

Ji Chuya smiled gently and elegantly. He looked at Cassel in front of him who was eating all the pickled seafood in a frustrated manner, and then asked him with a smile if he was full.

Cassel held back his tears and nodded.

Ji Chuya reached out and continued to touch his head: "So good."

Cassel closed his eyes and said nothing.

After Ji Chuya left, he turned over and ran to the corner, wanting to induce vomiting, but suddenly he remembered that they were in the water, and if he vomited in the water, people would notice him.

With no other options, Cassel took a few more gulps of water and plunged headfirst into the shell. He thought, maybe he should hypnotize himself.

At least I can meet Barbatos in my dreams.
