Chapter 7
Cassel was lying on the bed lonely again, counting the stars out of boredom. But before he counted to five, he heard a "creak". He was startled and turned his head to see Nie Wuhen looking at him expressionlessly.
“…”
They looked at each other in silence, and Cassel silently pulled the quilt over his head.
Nie Wuhen was simply too lazy to pay attention to him. He now wished he could kill him with a single blow - if he wasn't still of some use.
He turned around and disappeared. When Cassel lifted the quilt and looked back, there was no trace of Nie Wuhen.
Cassel breathed a sigh of relief in his heart.
In the following days, Cassel was locked in the palace. He tried to go out but was stopped every time. The merman outside the door was stern and put a knife to Cassel's neck. Cassel closed the door without hesitation and never dared to go out again.
Although someone delivered food to Cassel every day, he couldn't eat it at all. After several trips back and forth, nothing was missing. But Cassel was afraid that the fish would cause trouble for him and force him to eat like last time, so he secretly hid the food.
Just like usual, after delivering the food, the merman guards closed the door and stood guard at the entrance.
When Nie Wuhen arrived here, he saw Cassel lying on the bed weakly, looking unhappy, with his back to the door, and his wings flapping occasionally, creating circles of ripples.
He had been observing Cassel for several days. He didn't eat or drink, and apart from drinking water desperately, he picked out the green seaweed on the table and swallowed it. The guards outside stood guard day and night, and even Ji Chuya had set up a dragnet around them, determined to capture Nie Wuhen alive.
Although Ji Chuya considered everything, he still missed one thing. All of his nets were designed to bind immortals, but Nie Wuhen knew clearly that he himself had been half possessed by the devil because of his inner demons. In short, all of Ji Chuya's preparations were in vain.
Three days later, Ji Chuya took Cassel to hold a ceremony to make the mermaid pearl appear. If Nie Wuhen wants to get the Mermaid Pearl to purify his inner demons, then before that, he must ensure that Cassel is alive, or at least does not starve to death.
"Casel." Nie Wuhen stood beside the bed and called him.
Hearing the sound, Cassel flapped his wings twice, sat up, rubbed his head, and the tentacles on his forehead kept shaking without any sense of vision, which was really annoying.
Cassel pulled hard, but after a moment, he silently let go and whispered that it hurt.
Nie Wuhen: "..."
"Why are you here?" Cassel said, scratching his tentacles. "I thought you weren't coming."
"Not really." Nie Wuhen took out a bag from the space, threw it to Cassel, and said, "Candied fruit, eat it."
Cassel pulled his ear, thinking he had misheard. He looked up at Nie Wuhen and saw his serious expression. His eyes suddenly lit up. The moment he opened the bag, he saw a pile of stone-like things. He took a bite and they were so sweet.
Nie Wuhen didn't like sweet things, so he just bought these things from the market. Seeing Cassel frowning, he was silent for a moment and asked, "What's wrong?"
Cassel hesitated, but finally said: "So sweet."
"Don't you like sweet things?"
Cassel gave up and said, "But... this is so sweet."
Nie Wuhen: "...then what do you want to eat?"
"Tanghulu," Cassel once again pushed the little tentacles on his forehead aside, his eyes fell on Nie Wuhen, with a hint of expectation, he repeated, "Tanghulu, is it okay?"
Nie Wuhen did not agree immediately. After weighing the pros and cons in his mind, he took out a pill from the space and called Cassel over: "There is a market at the bottom of the sea. I will take you there and you can choose for yourself."
Cassel leaned over, looked at the white pill at his fingertips, and asked curiously: "What is this?"
"Something that turns you into a fish tail." Nie Wuhen handed it over. "The mermaid market doesn't allow outsiders to enter. I don't want to cause trouble. If you eat this, you can turn into a fish tail."
Cassel's eyes lit up. Fish tail, then it can only be like a mermaid. Mermaids all have blue tails, sometimes green ones, but what about him? If you had a fish tail, what color would it be? Is it black? Demon's tail should be black, right?
He walked over, and even the little wings behind him moved with excitement. Cassel lowered his head, opened his mouth, and swallowed the pill. The red lips touched Nie Wuhen's fingertips, and the latter suddenly retracted his hand.
Cassel swallowed the pill and looked at Nie Wuhen suspiciously. In his mind, this was how he leaned over to eat when Barbatos handed him food. There should be nothing wrong with this action, so he didn't understand why the person in front of him suddenly retracted his hand.
Nie Wuhen didn't say anything. He lowered his head, took out a handkerchief, wiped his fingertips, and destroyed the handkerchief without any emotion.
Cassel was petrified.
This is naked disdain! He didn't do anything. Why did Nie Wuhen dislike him? !
"You--" Cassel couldn't help it. He raised his hand tremblingly and pointed at Nie Wuhen. The first word he uttered was trembling. He wanted to accuse, but before he could accuse him, he saw Nie Wuhen exert a little force, and the teacup that was originally in his palm instantly turned into powder and quickly dissipated with the sea water.
Nie Wuhen lowered his eyes and looked at him: "Me what?"
Cassel immediately withdrew his hand and tried to force a big smile, although it was uglier than crying: "You look good."
"Really?" Nie Wuhen asked back, "Then tell me how beautiful it is."
Cassel pursed his lips and held back for a long time, fearing that he would be like the broken teacup if he said something wrong, so he said flatteringly: "As beautiful as an angel."
Shit again...
Nie Wuhen pulled the corner of his mouth. To be honest, he simply didn't understand why the monster in front of him was always obsessed with that pile of shit. Not only did he like to eat it, he also liked to use metaphors.
He was really speechless.
Nie Wuhen was too lazy to pay attention to him.
Cassel didn't understand what words had offended him again. He felt that the atmosphere was not right and he felt uneasy. But after a while, he felt his legs a little hot and itchy and he felt a little uncomfortable.
Cassel scratched subconsciously, but found that his legs were slowly disappearing and a white fish tail gradually appeared. He was dumbfounded, rubbed his eyes, and looked over again.
Yes, it's white.
Nie Wuhen's eyes fell on the fish's tail: "White. This color is strange. This is the first time I've seen this color."
"That's not right. Shouldn't it be black?" Cassel reached out and touched the fish's tail. The scales were cold and hard, a little bit painful. He pulled his hand back and asked blankly, "Why is it white?"
"Black" Nie Wuhen stood up, a dark color flashed across his eyes. He looked at Cassel and said tentatively, "The cultivators at the top of the cloud will have silver tails, and only the tails of the demon cultivators will have black tails. You want to become a demon..."
Cassel said nothing. He was shocked. He was a demon, so why did he have a tail the same color as an angel's hair?
In Nie Wuhen's eyes, his silence was a tacit agreement. Some people want to get rid of their inner demons as soon as possible and avoid the possibility of being possessed by the devil, but there are also people who try every possible means to become possessed by the devil. This world is really unpredictable.
He waved his hand and conjured up a doll that looked exactly like Cassel. After feeding it the elixir made by Bai Yi, he drew out the Wuwang Sword and drew a complex pattern.
Cassel stared blankly at the doll that looked exactly like him. It moved, smiled stiffly, then lay down, covered itself with a quilt, and its wings slowly curled up into a ball, just like a real person.
"Come here." Nie Wuhen put away the Wuwang Sword and reminded Cassel who was still in a daze, saying, "I'll take you out."
"Oh." Cassel swam over and came face to face with Nie Wuhen. He patted his head and suddenly remembered the question he was struggling with just now. He couldn't wait to ask, "By the way, what about the angel? If it is an angel's tail, what color would it be?"
The surrounding water vapor became turbid, and the magic circle was slowly taking effect. Nie Wuhen felt it was too noisy and didn't want to talk, but Cassel was still chattering and asking. He had a headache, so he simply turned around and looked at Cassel, saying expressionlessly: "Shit yellow."
Cassel was shocked: "Ah?!"
He wanted to continue asking, but he felt a black screen in front of his eyes. He was stunned for a moment and subconsciously grabbed Nie Wuhen's clothes. When he opened his eyes again, the palace was no longer around him!
The underwater market is very lively. There are mermaids coming and going, some with blue tails, some with green tails, and occasionally some with pink tails.
Except for this special color of Kassel.
"The coast has been blocked by Ji Chuya." Nie Wuhen put a robe on him, just enough to cover Cassel's tail. He said, "I can't go out with you. You are at the bottom of the sea, try to eat as much as possible. There are night pearls in your pockets, don't starve to death. Also, wrap your clothes tightly, don't let your tail show."
Cassel nodded repeatedly.
He also didn't like the color of his tail, so he simply pulled his clothes tighter to cover his white tail tightly, then swam around excitedly, wagging his tail.
At first, he was afraid that Nie Wuhen would lose him, so he looked back every few steps. Later, when he saw that Nie Wuhen was really just standing there, he plucked up his courage and swam around and looked everywhere.
Cassel thought the market here was the same as in the human world, so he walked along the market, picking out what he wanted to eat. But there are very few of them, except for fish, seafood, and some strange algae.
It's simply incomparable to the one on shore.
Except for the seaweed. Cassel took a bite and thought it was delicious, so he found a place to sit down. The mermaids next to him came and went, serving him plate after plate of algae.
The algae was not filling and was hard. Cassel chewed it for a long time and struggled with the food for a long time before he managed to finish three plates. Finally, he groaned, lay on the table, and rubbed his stomach.
The boss came over and said with a smile: "Do you want to eat more?"
Cassel shook his head and finally asked him if he had any meat. The boss said only fish, crab and shellfish were needed and asked Cassel if he wanted some.
Cassel became sad. He rejected the boss's kindness, drooped his eyelids, twitched his tentacles, looked around pitifully, and finally lay down on the table.
He didn't want to go back to that cold, empty room. He was suffocating to death. No one talked to him, he had nothing to eat, nothing to play with, nothing at all. He was trapped there. How was this different from solitary confinement?
He was immersed in sadness when suddenly a green candied haws appeared in front of him. Cassel was startled. He looked up and saw Nie Wuhen wearing a black cloak, sitting in front of him.
Mermaids were coming and going around, and it seemed that they couldn't even notice that there was suddenly one more person here. It was as if he had disappeared.
Nie Wuhen's tone was still calm: "I'm full."
