Chapter 8
Cassel was shocked for a while: "I'm full... why are you here?"
Nie Wuhen did not answer him: "Then let's talk business. Where is the jade pendant I gave you?"
"The mermaid took it," Cassel continued after a moment's thought. "I don't know what he did with it."
Nie Wuhen looked at him for a moment, then suddenly reached out and grabbed his wrist. Cassel was startled. He didn't understand why, and just as he was about to look up at Nie Wuhen, he felt his wrist getting hot. He was startled, and a white light flickered under Cassel's gaze, and then disappeared.
Cassel pursed his lips and looked at Nie Wuhen, only to see the latter loosen his hand and said, "The mermaids are causing chaos, and every year they sacrifice innocent women under the pretext of blessing good weather and good harvests. Asking you to come to the bottom of the sea to be a bride is just a trick."
Cassel found it strange. He rolled up his sleeves subconsciously and looked down. There was a red dot on his wrist near his pulse, like a cinnabar mole, blood red.
He reached out and touched it, and it hurt a little. It felt like something was cutting my blood vessels and my whole body felt like it had been struck by lightning. Cassel was so scared that he hurriedly lowered his sleeves.
"What is this?" Cassel was confused.
Nie Wuhen: "...You didn't hear what I just said"
Cassel looked at him in confusion: "I heard it."
Nie Wuhen felt like he was playing the lute to a cow. For the first time, he felt a sense of mental exhaustion that turned into helplessness. He could only close his eyes and said, "The mermaid you saw is not a good person. Don't believe anything he says, understand?"
Cassell seemed to understand. He lowered his head and took a bite of the green candied haws. It was a little sour and a little cold, but acceptable.
"Bai Yi and I have arranged everything. You just need to pretend to obey the mermaid and don't cause any trouble." Nie Wuhen used his hand as a pen and slowly drew strange words on the table. "Do you understand?"
"Will I die then?"
"...No," Nie Wuhen raised his eyelids and met Cassel's eyes. As their eyes met, he saw the fear of death and the unknown in those eyes. After a long pause, he added, "I will protect your life."
There is no sunrise or sunset at the bottom of the sea. Everywhere you look, you see either a luminous pearl or a place so dark it's terrifying. Logically speaking, hell is also dark, so Cassel shouldn't be so afraid. But it was a strange place after all, and he knew nothing about it. What he was really afraid of was the unknown danger and the despair of never seeing Barbatos again.
During the three days, Cassel tried countless times to see if he could use magic, but failed every time. In the end, you can only be forced to accept the facts.
But fortunately, on the third night, he dreamed of Barbatos. He stood in hell in the form of light and shadow. Looking up, Cassel saw Barbatos, whom he had not seen for a long time. His eyes almost instantly turned red.
"Barbatos!" He rushed over, calling him with sobs, wanting to hug him, but found that he just passed through Barbatos and could not touch him.
"Casel." Barbatos turned around, and the huge demon wings behind him flapped, rolling up the rubble in the demon hell. The wind was raging and the rubble was rolling.
"Don't be sad, my dear child." Barbatos raised his hand gently and touched Cassel's hair as he did before. Cassel rubbed it subconsciously and asked Barbatos lovingly when he could go home.
"Oh, this question is a bit difficult." Barbatos said sadly, "When I woke up, I found that you were gone. I thought you were playing around, but I didn't expect that you were kidnapped by a monster called the system. I found the memory demon and asked him to extract your information, only to find that you had ended up in such a strange place."
Cassel was a little anxious: "Then how can I go back? Barbatos, I don't want to leave you. They are all demons, no, they are scarier than demons. They are all using me and sealing my magic power. I can't do anything. I can't say anything and can only play dumb... Barbatos, I want to go home."
"Listen, my dear child, there is no difficulty that cannot be overcome. Dreams are limited, so I will keep it simple. If you want to go home, you must complete two tasks. The first is to gain the favor of Sword Master Nie Wuhen. You should know Nie Wuhen, the man who gave you the candied haws. This task is easy to accomplish, and it is not difficult for you. Just treat the little angel like you did before. As for the other task - to stop the war between immortals and demons. This is extremely difficult."
Cassel nodded, wiped his tears, and said in a crying voice: "I listen to Barbatos, I listen to you."
"There will be no battle between immortals and demons. If you want to complete this mission, you have to make it happen. Although it is difficult, I have thought of a good way. When you go to Yun Dian, remember, you must follow Nie Wuhen. Even if he uses you again, it doesn't matter. Just be patient."
"You steal his inner elixir, let him fall into the devil, and make him and Yun Dian become enemies. Only in this way can there be a war between immortals and demons."
Cassel tilted his head, grabbed Barbatos's hand, rubbed his face in his palm, and asked tearfully: "But I can't beat them, how can I stop them?"
"Hide the inner elixir first, and when they start fighting, secretly return it to Nie Wuhen and let him enter the immortal register. In this way, he can complete the mission and return to the Devil's Hell."
Barbatos reached out and gently rubbed Cassel's head, sighing: "My dear child, I will always wait for you."
Cassel looked at him with tears in his eyes.
The world of dreams gradually collapsed with a loud rumble, and Cassel watched Barbatos disappear in front of him like light and shadow. He wiped his tears and was about to say something when a big hand grabbed his ankle. Before he could shout, he was dragged into the endless abyss by that hand.
In reality, Cassel lay on Shell's bed and opened his eyes.
There were a bunch of mermaids standing outside, lined up in two rows, kneeling on the ground respectfully. Next to the table was Ji Chuya, looking at him thoughtfully.
Cassel didn't understand what such a big fuss was about. He could only clutch his clothes carefully and look at Ji Chuya anxiously. His eyes were filled with fear and sadness that could not be dispelled in time.
"Let's go." Ji Chuya didn't say anything. He raised his hand and signaled a group of mermaids to come in.
The mermaid lowered her head, walked in with clothes in her hand, and bowed to Ji Chuya.
Ji Chuya said succinctly: "Put it on him."
As he finished speaking, Cassel watched the group of mermaids swim over and push him to sit on the chair. The effect of the medicine had long since worn off, and the fish tail had also disappeared, leaving only two human legs.
Cassel treated this group of mermaids as if they were a proprietress he met in the human world. They painted his face with all kinds of things and dressed him in bright red clothes. All of this made Cassel feel creepy. He inappropriately recalled the pain of suffocation that day and tried to struggle, but a big hand held down his shoulder.
Ji Chuya bent down and whispered the same words to him as Nie Wuhen: "Don't refuse a toast and drink a forfeit. Be good and I will protect your life."
…
Cassel was forced to wear the red wedding dress again. With a confused look on her face, she was held by Ji Chuya's hand and headed towards an unknown place. All around her were kneeling mermaids, both commoners and mermaids of status.
They all put their heads on the ground, and when Ji Chuya passed by, as if something was triggered, they made sounds of "Welcome, Your Majesty".
Everything made Cassel feel weird. The pearl hairpin on his head was shaking, and even the tentacles were shaking, occasionally hitting his eyes. He wanted to pull his hand back, but his wrist was held by Ji Chuya.
Cassel's body stiffened. With his other hand, he stroked his antennae, then followed in silence, without a word, until they came to a holy place.
Countless seaweeds seemed to have eyes. They were originally gathered together, but now they quickly retreated. Two huge stones were moved away, revealing a narrow passage inside.
Cassel didn't quite dare to go in, but when he met Ji Chuya's smiling gaze, he swallowed and was forced to squeeze in.
Unexpectedly, there was a huge empty space inside.
All the night pearls lit up at this moment, illuminating the mermaids kneeling around and the altar in the middle clearly.
At the same time, a strange singing voice sounded.
The sea water carried their voices, and Cassel was confused. Ji Chuya grabbed his arm and pulled him onto the altar.
The mechanism turned, and a small, glowing bead was revealed. Cassel felt a little uncomfortable. Because he felt a power similar to that of an angel. He stepped back, but was immobilized by Ji Chuya's magic power.
Cassel: "!"
The next second, he widened his eyes and watched Ji Chuya's fingernails slowly grow longer and sharper. Ji Chuya rolled up Cassel's sleeves, looked down at the red mole on his wrist, and found it strange.
When his fingernail touched that spot, Cassel trembled all over. Ji Chuya raised his eyebrows: "I didn't know that you had a red mole on your wrist."
Cassel felt like his tendons were about to break, and he begged, "Don't touch it, it hurts a little."
Ji Chuya tilted his head to look at him, smiled cruelly, and replied to him, No.
Then, Cassel felt pain all over his body. The feeling of being struck by lightning instantly spread throughout his body. He uncontrollably vomited a large mouthful of blood and fell to the ground with a pale face.
The red mole was scratched, and bright red blood instantly flowed out, quickly turning into a blood mist, which swam like a snake, penetrating towards the place where the colorful beads were emitted.
Ji Chuya was surprised at first, but he had no time to be surprised. He quickly cut his fingertips and dripped the blood belonging to the Mermaid King into the beads.
