Chapter 30

Chapter 30

vertical day

Luo Chaoyan got up from the bed, opened her sleepy eyes, and yawned continuously.

Seeing that Huo Jin was no longer beside her, she thought that he had gone for morning exercise again. This man is really self-disciplined to the core. She couldn't sleep well last night because she looked at his handsome face.

"Shu Lan!"

She called out the door.

Upon hearing the voice, Shu Lan came in with toiletries. Seeing her tired face, her face flushed a little, she said, "Master, you are really something. Why don't you be considerate of the young lady..."

Luo Chaoyan was stunned when she heard this, then she thought of something, pounded the bed, and said with a smile: "Shu Lan, you think too much, my husband and I just played chess too late last night."

Shu Lan then realized that he had misunderstood and immediately blushed again.

When Fengli came in with a hot breakfast, she thought she was sick when she saw her like this, "Shulan, are you feeling unwell?"

"No, I just felt the smell when I went to scoop hot water." Shu Lan quickly found an excuse.

Pineapple had no doubts. She just wanted the young lady to go out to taste the dim sum at Xiangsulou after she had breakfast and went to the old lady's yard.

After Luo Chaoyan finished washing up, Huo Jin just walked in after morning exercise.

"Master!"

After Fengli and the other man saluted him, they lowered their heads and stood aside.

Huo Jin nodded calmly, looked at Luo Chaoyan and said, "I'll go take a shower first."

Luo Chaoyan nodded.

After Huo Jin finished washing up, the wet nurse came in carrying little Huo An.

Little Huo An got off the nurse and politely bowed to the two of them, "Father... Mother!"

Luo Chaoyan raised her hand and rubbed his little head, smiling, "Are you hungry?"

Xiao Huoan nodded vigorously.

"Little greedy cat!" Luo Chaoyan said with a smile and tapped his little nose.

Little Huo An chuckled.

"Let's eat." Huo Jin's heart moved when he saw the intimate interaction between the two, as if a warm current had flowed across a cold ocean.

So the family of three started to have breakfast.

In order to cater to Huo Jin's light taste, the breakfast consisted of lean meat porridge, steamed buns, and blanched vegetables.

Huo Jin said, "Just ask the kitchen to make whatever you like."

The implication was that she should not compromise just to please his taste.

Little Huo An was obviously not very satisfied with today's breakfast. He looked at Luo Chaoyan with anticipation.

Huo Jin said to his son, "An An, don't be picky about food."

Little Huo An looked at his father, then at his mother. Being a smart boy, he actually felt that his father was partial to him. So he was a little dissatisfied and looked at his father with an accusing look on his face.

Luo Chaoyan smiled and said, "I've been feeling a bit irritated lately, so it's good to eat something light."

Little Huo An pouted when he heard this. He felt that his mother didn't like him anymore. "Mom!"

Seeing him like this, Huo Jin frowned and glanced at him indifferently.

Little Huo An shrank slightly, a little afraid of his father's gaze.

Luo Chaoyan poked his little face soothingly and said, "Wait a minute, let someone make you some chestnut cakes."

Little Huo An then smiled and started drinking the porridge with a small spoon.

When he drank porridge, he only picked out the lean meat in the porridge. Luo Chaoyan found it a little funny. Why did this little fat boy like to eat meat so much? I don't know who inherited it from.

Little Huo An seemed to remember the scene where Luo Chaoyan picked up food for Huo Jin. He looked at the plate of vegetables on the table and had an idea in his mind.

He picked up the serving chopsticks and wanted to pick up some food for his father. But he was still young and didn't know how to use chopsticks very well, and a piece of vegetable almost made him drop it.

"An An wants to eat vegetables?" Luo Chaoyan was surprised.

Little Huo An shook his head. He pointed at Huo Jin and said in a baby voice, "Father...eat!"

Luo Chaoyan paused. Does this mean that the little fat boy wants to show filial piety to his father? But her next action made her realize that she was overthinking.

But Xiao Huoan picked up one after another for him. This seems to be an attempt to get Huo Jin to finish the entire plate of vegetables.

Luo Chaoyan laughed dryly: "Haha! Our An An is such a good and filial child."

Originally, when Huo Jin saw his son picking up some cabbage for him, he ate it out of courtesy. Seeing that he wanted to put all the vegetables into his bowl, he frowned and said, "Stop messing around and enjoy your meal."

Seeing his father's unhappy expression, little Huo An stopped serving food to his father and lowered his head to drink his porridge.

After breakfast, Luo Chaoyan took little Huo An and Huo Jin to Old Madam Huo's yard.

Old Madam Huo and Madam Huo were sitting on the couch in the house discussing going to the farm.

"Grandma, Mother!"

The couple bowed to them together.

Little Huo An also consciously bowed to his elders, and his eyes sparkled when he saw snacks on the table.

When Mrs. Huo saw his little appearance, she smiled and waved to him.

Little Huo An trotted over to her excitedly, waiting for her to feed him.

Seeing this, Old Madam Huo glared at Luo Chaoyan and said, "Are you withholding food from my good great-grandson again?"

Luo Chaoyan was speechless. Why did the old lady always use this trick every time she saw her? Doesn’t she know that her great-grandson is a foodie?

"Grandma, you are wrongly accusing me. I always give An'an the best food on weekdays. If you don't believe me, you can ask the nurse to interrogate me."

Madam Huo snorted coldly and said, "Let An An stay in our courtyard for the next few days. You will start going to the clan school tomorrow."

Luo Chaoyan was frowning and she gently tugged at Huo Jin's sleeve. Let him help speak quickly.

"Grandma, this is not good." Huo Jin said, "Ayan is already a married woman, how can she go to the clan school?"

Luo Chaoyan nodded.

"Why not? Didn't you say that Rui'er's academic performance was not good and he was sent to the clan school? Meng's mother moved three times for her son. As a mother, she can naturally accompany him to study."

"Besides, we are the Grand Tutor's Mansion. As the future head of the Huo family, how can she be so ignorant of writing and make a fool of herself?"

Huo Jin said, "Grandma, marry a virtuous wife. As long as she can respect the elders and get along well with me, that's enough. She doesn't need to be proficient in these pretentious things."

"Do you think I'm being unreasonable?" Mrs. Huo said angrily.

Mrs. Huo comforted her, "Mother, don't be angry. Ajin never meant that." She looked at her daughter-in-law who was lowering her head. She felt a little emotional, as it was the first time she saw her son contradict the old lady for his wife.

"Ayan, if you don't want to go to the clan school to accompany your studies, why don't you learn housekeeping from me?"

When Luo Chaoyan heard this, she felt like she was struck by lightning. You have to get up early to accompany your child in his studies, and you might even be annoyed to death by Huo Rui. But if the housekeeper says so, doesn’t that mean we won’t even have freedom?

"Mother, what did you say?" She hoped she was hallucinating.

Mrs. Huo smiled and said, "You have been married into the Huo family for several days. You can also try to manage some household affairs." She could feel that her daughter-in-law did not want to manage the household. After spending these days together, she still likes this daughter-in-law. She is not pretentious and is open and generous. The grandson also became cheerful because of her.

Luo Chaoyan was secretly amazed, thinking that the old lady was a little naughty child. Her mother-in-law was a master of hiding. She knew that she didn't like the housekeeper, but still asked her to learn it. Isn't this forcing her to make a choice?

She tugged at Huo Jin's sleeve again and looked at him pitifully.

Seeing her like this, Mrs. Huo had a plan in mind and said, "Yes, you can either go to accompany the teacher to study or learn to be a housekeeper. Choose one of the two."

"Grandma..." Huo Jin wanted to say something, but was interrupted by her waving her hand.

Madam Huo stared at Luo Chaoyan and asked, "Which one do you choose?"

Luo Chaoyan's lips twitched, she didn't want to choose either one. She looked at Xiao Huo An, wanting him to act like a spoiled brat, but she saw him just sitting on the couch with his mouth full of snacks, which immediately broke her heart.

She had no choice but to say, "Then let the granddaughter-in-law go and study with him.
