"Just calculate how many more years you'll have to work for me?" The shopkeeper counted on his fingers.
Wuhen withdrew his hand, his eyes filled with resentment and hatred.
"Old man, once I have avenged my great grudge, I will return all this money to you."
The shopkeeper scoffed, "Come on, with your looks, forget about revenge. I could just give you a light push and you'd be down."
Su Chen chuckled, but when the two men, who were exchanging heated words, turned away, she realized what was happening and covered her mouth.
"What are you laughing at?" Wuhen tilted his head, seemingly genuinely not understanding why she was laughing.
What are you laughing at? You can't exactly say you're laughing at the shop owner for bragging, saying that they could knock over Wuhen, the shop that just shattered the table, with just a "light push," can you?
Su Chen's mind raced, and her big eyes darted around as a plan came to mind.
She chuckled and said, "What are you laughing at? I'm laughing at your overestimation of your abilities!"
Before she could finish speaking, Wuhen's figure flashed and grabbed her by the neck, his eyes bloodshot. "What did you say?"
Su Chen's face instantly turned bright red, then grew paler and paler, and her lips became increasingly bloodless.
She struggled to raise her hand, but it was as stiff as cooked noodles and she simply couldn't lift it.
With the last breath she had left, she mustered all her strength to say, "You only know how to use brute force on... a weak woman like me who can't even kill a chicken?"
Upon hearing this, Wuhen loosened his grip slightly.
Su Chen's body fell straight to the ground like a kite with a broken string.
The pain in her body was nothing compared to the fresh air she was breathing in, like a fish out of a dried-up swamp finally finding a spring.
After calming down for a while, Su Chen pushed Fu Zi's hand away, steadied herself, and said, "Have you ever thought that if that person could make you so destitute before, why can't he do the same now?"
"Do you know? If it weren't for that despicable villain who plotted against me, how could I have ended up in this situation?" A bloodthirsty light flashed in Wuhen's eyes, and his ten fingers clenched until they turned white.
“If I can harm you once, I can certainly harm you a second time.” Su Chen finished speaking, clutched her neck, and took two steps back. “Just like now, I only provoked you a little, and you lost your temper. If it had been your enemy who said those words instead of me, you probably wouldn’t be breathing by now.”
Wuhen clenched his fist, then slumped back down.
Admittedly, she is right. The time is not ripe. That person is at the height of his power, and his defenses are impenetrable. Even if his martial arts are unparalleled, a lone tiger cannot withstand a pack of wolves...
Seeing him deep in thought, Su Chen knew that her words had worked.
Sure enough, about 30 seconds later, the system sent a notification.
[Ding dong: Congratulations, host, for completing the "Stop Without a Trace" mission. 50 experience points added.]
Su Chen breathed a sigh of relief; after a busy day, she had finally completed her task.
"Young Madam, are you feeling unwell? Shall we go to the clinic?"
Su Chen shook her head, "It's nothing serious." The only clinic in this town that can treat illnesses is Wu Mei, which is run by the female lead, but she doesn't really want to see the female lead right now. It would be awkward to see her, after all, she had lied to her before.
Su Chen sighed, asked the shopkeeper for a food box, and packed up the untouched soup noodles on the table.
"Who are you?" Wuhen asked calmly.
"Me?" Su Chen pointed to her nose with some doubt.
Wuhen bowed his head. "Yes, it's you."
Why...why are you asking about her identity? Do you want to get revenge on her?
"Don't worry, I was just asking."
