Chapter 195 The Record of a Hundred Demons of Cangyuan (Part 20)

"Young Master..." Uncle Wu was in tears, wanting to speak but unable to.

Whenever such things happened, the young master would pretend to be nonchalant, unaware that the tremor in his pupils had already betrayed his true feelings.

To avoid hurting others, the young master didn't get close to anyone except him. Even when friends showed him kindness during his childhood, he would stay far away from them. After a while, no matter how warm other people's hearts were, they were frozen into ice by him.

After that, no one approached the young master, and he didn't approach anyone else either. Finally, there was Miss Tang…sigh…

“It’s a good thing she left.” Lu Jian put down his pen and slumped into his chair. “A monster like me will attract the ire of anyone who gets close to me.”

"Young master, you are not a monster." Uncle Wu said, tears streaming down his face.

"Alright, alright." Lu Jian seemed tired and pinched the bridge of his nose. "Uncle Wu, you've been working hard all day. Go back and rest."

Uncle Wu noticed that Lu Jian looked unwell and didn't linger any longer. "Young master, please take care of yourself."

After saying that, he gave Lu Jian a deep look, then turned and went back.

The door closed, and Lu Jian's body slumped down like a deflated balloon.

For the first time in his life, he fell in love with someone, and for the first time, he felt the urge to keep someone by his side no matter what! But... why did fate... have to make things so difficult for him?

But...

"Da da da..." A soft, faint sound.

"Da da da..."

Lu Jian's ears twitched. He had perfectly inherited the wolf's hearing ability, and he could hear every subtle sound in the entire courtyard.

Lu Jian looked up at the sound and saw that several tiles on the roof had been removed and two legs were emerging from the hole in the ceiling.

"Lu Jian, I'm stuck..." A sobbing voice came from the ceiling, "I think I've gained weight recently, waaaaah..."

Lu Jian was stunned for a moment upon hearing this, then a genuine smile appeared on his face. With a slight leap, he scooped the woman stuck in the rafters into his arms.

"Ah! Slow down, slow down! You scared me to death!" The woman clenched her fist and tapped Lu Jian's chest.

Lu Jian smiled and exerted a little force, slowing down the descent considerably.

"You've lost weight!" The woman reached out and pinched Lu Jian's cheek. "Tell me! Have you been dieting behind my back?"

He finished speaking with a huffy expression.

"No." Lu Jian's face suddenly turned red.

"You blush when you lie! You're lying!" the woman persisted, her anger even rising.

"I..." Lu Jian didn't know what to say, but gently lifted her and placed her on the carved wooden chair where he had been sitting.

"You, go serve the dishes!" the woman said, pointing at him without any politeness.

Lu Jian was amused by her adorable appearance, reached out his large hand to ruffle her hair, and asked gently, "What do you want to eat?"

"It's the same old stuff." The woman snorted and turned her head away, her face as red as an apple.

Lu Jian smiled and instructed the kitchen to prepare her favorite dishes.

The woman, who had been listening nearby, suddenly grabbed his hand and shook her head when he mentioned the dishes. "Let's add some stir-fried pork with garlic sprouts too."

Lu Jian was stunned, bent down and flicked her nose, "Didn't Wanwan hate this dish the most? She even complained that the garlic sprouts were too tough."

"Hmph, none of your business! Just order it." He then turned his head away, thinking, "Silly girl, isn't this your favorite?"

Lu Jian shook his head helplessly and ordered another dish of stir-fried pork with garlic sprouts.

The two chatted for a while, and the meal was almost ready. More than a dozen dishes were laid out on the table, their colors, aromas, and flavors making them very tempting.

The woman put her hands on her hips, pointed to the table full of dishes, then pointed to Lu Jian, and said, "You ate it all!"
