Chapter 409 Interstellar Escape (Thirty-Four)

"Heh, now that I've already said it all, why bother pretending anymore?" Xing An sneered and slammed the door shut before dying.

Wu Yue was left staring at the cold hatch, her brows furrowed.

...

The main characters' story is getting tragic, but Su Chen is completely unaware of it. Without Ning Wu, there's no one to keep an eye on things for her, and besides, she has to deal with the insects that fly in from Wu Yang as soon as she steps off the spaceship.

These insects weren't the same batch as last night. They looked about the same size as fruit flies and were quite ordinary-looking, so they probably weren't poisonous.

Even though she had the insect-killing herb that Bai Ze had given her, the swarm of insects still relentlessly attacked her.

Before they could even get close, the insects all fell to the ground and turned into dust.

Su Chen glanced at the equally unremarkable insecticidal plant in her hand and thought: Indeed, no creature can be judged by its appearance.

The two held hands and waded through a patch of grass, where they finally came upon a village.

The houses in this village are very strange. I don't know what material they are made of, but they even glow with a green fluorescence in the sunlight, making them look very eerie.

Just then, sounds came from one of the rooms, sounds that sounded like the entire Beggars' Sect had joined forces to extort money.

Bai Ze's first reaction was to pull Su Chen behind him, his eyes fixed on the unusual activity in each room with vigilance.

Su Chen smiled slightly at his expression, took his right hand from behind, and chuckled, "Bai Ze, I am not a dodder vine." She was not a dodder vine, but... a kapok tree that could stand shoulder to shoulder with him!

Bai Ze frowned, thinking that Su Chen was just throwing a tantrum. He couldn't take care of her right now, so he could only protect her behind him. Su Chen grabbed his right hand and held it tightly back.

Su Chen struggled but couldn't break free, so she closed her eyes slightly. With her left hand, she made a claw gesture in the air, and a stream of purple energy poured out from her palm. When she looked again, her fair little hand was holding a dagger that was entirely gilded with silver.

Bai Ze sensed something amiss behind him and pulled the person behind him close to his chest, not missing the fleeting purple aura. "This is..."

His treasure seems to hold a secret. But... why does that dagger feel strangely familiar to him?

Just then, the eerie doors of the house opened simultaneously, revealing a group of people dressed entirely in white. Yes, pure white, so pure that even their clothes had no other color.

Su Chen: !!!

Bai Ze: !!!

Su Chen thought to herself: Holy crap? The world is full of wonders! The people in front of her looked like snow fairies, even their eyelashes were white.

Upon closer inspection, it was clear that there were men, women, and children among them, all with wary expressions, each holding a white stick and tapping the ground.

Su Chen slowly put down the dagger, but didn't retract it. She still held it tightly in her left hand, gave a kind smile, and said, "Um... we didn't hurt you at all. We just want to stay here for one night."

However, as soon as she opened her mouth, the person took several steps back, as if they had seen some kind of monster.

Su Chen sighed, took out her backpack, and rummaged through it until she found a pineapple bun.

If they're afraid of being spoken to, they won't be afraid of being fed, right?

Su Chen took a few steps forward before Bai Ze stopped her. Seeing his anxious expression, she smiled and shook her head, pushed his hand away, took two more steps forward, then squatted down, opened her hands, and took out pineapple buns. Looking at one of the smaller children, she gently said, "Want some? They're very fragrant and sweet~"
