Chapter 47 The Academic Star's Love Story (Part Two)

"Tell me, what kind of person is the villain?" Su Chen murmured.

"How...how does this system know?" The main system's plot wasn't detailed enough; we'll have to get to know the specifics of the person after we meet them.

"Okay..." Su Chen felt a wave of drowsiness wash over her.

"Dad's going back to sleep now." Su Chen waved her hand towards the void.

"Hehe, son." The system beeped, ending the conversation.

As soon as Su Chen stepped out of the restroom, she felt a chill run down her spine. As she walked, she could clearly hear the echo of her own footsteps, as if someone was following her.

Su Chen couldn't help but feel a chill run down her spine. She clutched her wildly beating heart and muttered to herself, "There are no ghosts. There are no unscientific species in this world. Believe in science..."

After finally managing to move to the dormitory door, just as I was about to open it, the door creaked open by itself.

Su Chen darted three meters away in an instant, shouting as she went, "Oh my god! A ghost!"

"Is it really necessary?" Her roommate, who had just opened the door and was wearing flip-flops, gave her a disdainful look and turned to go to the bathroom.

Su Chen quickly smoothed her hair that had stood up, sprinted back to her bed, drew the curtains, and covered herself with the summer blanket, all in less than 20 seconds.

This series of movements was performed in one go, as if it had been practiced no less than a hundred times.

"Pfft, host, you're killing me with laughter... Hahaha... You're such a grown-up and you're still afraid of the dark, hahahahahahaha..." The system suddenly popped into Su Chen's mind and sent an emoji of someone rolling around laughing so hard they were about to cry.

"Shut up." Su Chen glanced at him sideways.

"Hahahahahaha..."

"roll!"

"Hahaha, don't be angry, host." No, this is too funny, I can't stop laughing!

"hehe."

"Oh dear, I was wrong. But you're so funny, hahaha..."

"Have you laughed enough?" Su Chen's eyes were like knives as she stared at the system's dialog box.

The system quickly coughed a few times to stop laughing.

"Ha cough cough... I've laughed enough. But, my lord, this system still reminds you to work on your courage, otherwise future missions will be difficult."

Su Chen's hair stood on end, and his voice trembled as he asked, "What? Are there ghosts in the missions to come?"

The system sent a waving emoji.

"No, but there will be immortals and demons. Just imagine, if the teleportation point for some world happens to be in the demon realm, wouldn't you be terrified the moment you get there?"

"You're saying I might become a demon in the future?" Su Chen's eyes widened, looking incredulous.

"Not necessarily. Anyway, the tasks are assigned by higher-ups, so I don't know the specifics."

"Then... will I be as ugly as a ghost?" Su Chen felt a chill run down her spine when she thought about looking in the mirror every day and seeing the hideous face there.

"Don't worry. They all look pretty much like humans, except some have strange eye colors, strange hair colors, and all sorts of weird-looking horns."

Su Chen frowned. "Now that you mention it, I'm actually starting to feel uneasy."

"Hey, don't worry, you're still human! Why think about the future? Focus on how to complete this mission! Earning more points and getting back to your world is more important than anything else!"

"Yes, this is the first time in the few months I've known you that you've said something so reasonable and practical," Su Chen nodded in agreement.

"Heh, you don't know me at all. This system not only speaks with reason, but is also incredibly powerful!" the system boasted.

Su Chen rolled her eyes at her. "Go away. You think you're so great just because I praised you a few times?"

...

As night deepened, the streets gradually darkened.

Only one man was still sitting at the top of the stairs smoking, but he didn't seem to enjoy it like a smoker. With each puff, his brows furrowed tightly and he coughed incessantly.

At his feet were scattered many extinguished cigarette butts.

After an unknown amount of time, he took out another cigarette from his pocket, lit it, but didn't smoke it. He just looked at it quietly and smiled, but tears streamed down his face.

He chuckled and wiped his eyes with his sleeve, saying self-deprecatingly, "Damn! Why are you crying?"
