“Su Chen, I…” It can be explained.
But Xing An still didn't say the second half of the sentence.
What difference does it make whether she explains or not? In the end, she still killed her husband.
Su Chen's eyes didn't move, but he raised his face and stared at her intently, as if looking into the void. "I don't care what happened before."
"But... no matter what, Bai Ze is your savior."
"Can't this past life-saving grace be repaid?"
Su Chen seemed to snap out of her daze after asking this question; her eyes were no longer filled with confusion, but only with coldness.
“I…” Xing An didn’t know what to say.
What could she say? That Bai Ze killed her adoptive father? Or that he led the Zerg to destroy planet after planet? That he was a complete villain and she was merely acting on behalf of Heaven?
But she couldn't refute Su Chen's question to Xing An. Yes... all the past grievances against her were wiped clean. Bai Ze was dead, and she ultimately owed them.
"You don't need to say anything more." Su Chen waved her hand as if she was tired. "You know it in your heart."
Su Chen glanced at the medical tape in her hand, then expressionlessly tore the needle off along with the tape, seemingly unaware that blood was seeping from the puncture site.
"You might as well have pushed me back into that spaceship. If Bai Ze and I had died together, it would have saved you a lot of trouble." Su Chen raised her eyes again as if she were a stranger.
Standing in this room, Xing An felt as if she were being roasted by a raging fire, her face burning with shame and guilt.
"Su Chen, you can hate me if you want, but don't hurt yourself."
Xing An opened her mouth again and whispered, "I will repay what I owe you."
"Heh." Su Chen said, her tone a mix of mockery and sarcasm, before giving her another look.
Xing An knew that standing there any longer would be an eyesore, so she opened the hatch. "Right now, taking care of your health is the most important thing. No matter what happens to you in the future, you have to be alive!"
After saying that, the hatch slammed shut, completely enveloping Xing An.
Su Chen didn't turn around, as if all the sounds behind her were irrelevant to her, and she closed her eyes and fell into a deep sleep.
After leaving the house, Xing An thought about her experiences over the past few days, but the more she thought about it, the more something seemed off.
She had only received Wu Yue's report three days prior. No matter how accurate the warship's positioning function was, it was impossible for it to suddenly locate a small spaceship within a single day while she was searching for Bai Ze to take revenge.
The efficiency was so high that it raised suspicions, especially considering the destructive power of the ammunition used to attack the small spaceship—a specially made, new type of munition she had never even seen before. Such ammunition couldn't possibly have been produced in just a few days; such a project would take at least ten years…
Xing An felt that everything happening now seemed to be controlled by an invisible hand, and that she was even a pawn in the game of this hand.
Could it be... that Wu Yue was the one who caused all of this?
Xing An's delicate brows furrowed as she pondered this.
Wu Yue, who is suspected, is in the ammunition depot.
Wu Yue frowned as she looked at the unchanging quantity of ammunition and asked, "Where did the ammunition from the other day come from?"
The man next to him lowered his head and said, "Boss, the ammunition was transported from headquarters."
"Oh? Which day? Which batch? Why isn't it in the records?" Wu Yue's eyes were like knives as she looked at the person next to her.
"This... headquarters said it's a secret development, subordinates..."
Wu Yue frowned and answered for him, "You don't know either?"
