“Debussy’s Clair de Lune…it’s beautiful no matter how many times I hear it,” Ethel exclaimed.
"You understand music?" Benjamin looked at him with surprise. "I only knew Beethoven's 'Clair de Lune' before. I never imagined that Debussy's 'Clair de Lune' was so beautiful."
Ethel smiled gently. "If Beethoven's *Clair de Lune* is a grown man gazing at a cloud-covered night sky, only able to see a blurry moonlight, expressing the deep sorrow of unrequited love, then Debussy's *Clair de Lune* is a young woman in her late teens, dressed in a light gown, walking along the beach at night, sending her lingering thoughts to her beloved as she gazes at the moon reflected on the shimmering water..."
As she spoke, a look of melancholy appeared on her face.
Benjamin looked at her profile and felt a slight flutter in his heart. He didn't know what to say for a moment, so he just looked at her.
The vampires were so engrossed in the music that they didn't even hear the howls of wolves, until one of them had his neck bitten off by a werewolf outside the castle.
"The werewolves are coming!"
"Set up defenses!"
The music stopped abruptly, and the vampires bared their fangs, glaring menacingly at the equally ferocious werewolf.
Su Chen thought she was doomed. She just hadn't expected this day to come so soon.
It's unclear who started the fight, but eventually they were all tangled up in a chaotic melee. Some of the vegetation outside the castle was snapped in half, while others were uprooted, creating quite a mess.
Su Chen hid in a corner of the castle, thinking about what to do next.
Suddenly! A claw slapped her shoulder, startling her so much that her heart skipped a beat. She looked up and saw Benjamin standing in front of her.
He asked, "Why don't you go fight?"
Su Chen stood up tremblingly. "I... this is the first time I've encountered this situation. I... I don't know how. Besides, I'm not capable. Going out would only be a hindrance."
"Ha, at least he has some self-awareness." Benjamin sneered, turning his gaze to the window. "Looks like this werewolf has been used as a pawn."
"What?" Su Chen also turned to look out the window.
Sure enough, only werewolves were fighting with the vampires; there were no vampire hunters in sight.
"Could it be that they're sitting on the sidelines watching the tigers fight, hoping to reap the benefits without lifting a finger?" Su Chen speculated.
Benjamin glanced at him sideways. "Hmm, looks like you do have some brains."
"What should we do? The enemy is in the shadows while we are in the open. If the vampire hunters launch a sneak attack, we..." Su Chen looked on anxiously.
"What's the rush?" Benjamin raised an eyebrow. "Or perhaps you want to go out and help?"
Upon hearing this, Su Chen immediately fell silent.
Su Chen knew that staying in the castle was safe for the time being.
The Polidori family's castle is protected by a restriction; only those of Polidori blood can enter, and no other creatures are allowed.
This is the conclusion Su Chen reached after trying to bring the rabbit in several times.
Whether she was holding the rabbit in her arms or carrying it in her pocket, the rabbit would bounce off the doorway.
Looking out the window again, I noticed that several werewolves were gone, and the ones that were lying on the ground were also gone.
"Looking for them?" Benjamin chuckled. "They've already run away."
"Why run? We're at a disadvantage..." Su Chen couldn't understand.
“I should take back what I just said.” Benjamin gave her a disdainful look. “You’re still a brainless idiot.”
He explained, “Werewolves and vampire hunters haven’t established complete trust, so they’re naturally afraid that the hunters lurking in the shadows might also be a threat to them. Moreover, I suspect that the werewolves didn’t even realize that the hunters were just hiding in the shadows and not fighting alongside them.”
