"Su Chen, think about it, are you still the same person you were at the beginning?"
Ning Wu's question startled Su Chen. Was she still the same person she used to be? Obviously not.
Back then, I was carefree and lived life to the fullest. I secretly vowed that I would never fall in love with someone because of a person. I seemed incapable of feeling love back then, and even if a trace of affection sprouted, it would vanish the next day.
But why is she in so much pain now? Is it because her love has been preserved, and is still there after she falls asleep?
Su Chen closed her eyes slightly. Ning Wu was right. These were just characters. She really shouldn't get involved in them. She should continue to live a carefree life.
"I understand, I won't do it again," Su Chen said sullenly, her head down.
Ningwu sighed, shook his head, and said nothing more, but then stretched out his head to let Su Chen touch his soft fur.
The next day, Su Chen went to the brothel again, but this time it was purely for a mission, and she didn't touch a drop of alcohol.
"Your Highness, it's been a long time~" Su Chen greeted the tenth princess, Jin Rulan, who was also the female lead, with a smile in the private room.
"Oh, General Su, it's been a long time." Jin Rulan seemed surprised to see her here. "You don't need to keep calling me 'Princess,' just call me Rulan."
Then she whispered close to Su Chen's ear, "You must travel incognito and not let anyone discover your identity. In the future, just call me Ru Lan in these casual occasions."
Su Chen readily agreed, "Ru Lan, call me Su Chen. I'm no longer a general, after all, His Majesty has never truly granted me an official position since summoning me back to the capital. I'm just a commoner now."
Jin Rulan smiled and said in a low voice, "I heard that His Majesty seems to want to invite you, Su Chen, to the palace recently. Given time, I'm afraid Su Chen will also be a person above ten thousand people."
Well, I guess this counts as trying to get closer to her. Su Chen kept saying she didn't deserve it, but she knew in her heart that her wish to follow the dragon had probably come true.
"Su Chen, would you like some of this fine grape wine? It's said to be from the Western Regions." Jin Rulan carried an exquisite wine pot to pour some for Su Chen.
Su Chen repeatedly refused, "No need, I really can't hold my liquor." Please, she'd been drinking herself to death for the past two days, she really didn't want to try again.
"Su Chen probably won't be used to this wine," a gentle male voice said.
Jin Rulan and Su Chen looked up and saw Xuan Yu approaching. Who else was following him besides Yue Feng?
Su Chen looked away and lowered her head to look at the grapes on the plate.
Yuefeng clearly saw Su Chen's attitude, and his expression darkened, without even realizing it himself.
"Rulan, why don't you let me have a taste?" Xuan Yu offered her wine cup.
Jin Rulan smiled amiably and immediately filled his glass. "How did you get in here?"
“Of course…” Xuan Yu took out her purse.
Jin Rulan understood and smiled, "It seems Brother Xuan has gone to great lengths; I must treat him to this meal."
Su Chen had already given up her seat for Xuan Yu, and sat opposite the two of them, leaving only one chair for Yue Feng to sit down next to Su Chen.
Su Chen didn't want to look at him, so she could only watch the two people across from her who were being ambiguous, and occasionally chuckle as she listened to their recent experiences.
Yuefeng's gaze seemed fixed on the pillar, but only he knew that he had been uncontrollably watching Su Chen's movements. Seeing that she hadn't even glanced at him, he felt a pang of unease.
When he realized what was wrong with him, he did not.
