Chapter 197 The Record of a Hundred Demons of Cangyuan (Twenty-Two)

A warm embrace pulled him out of his painful memories. Cute, doe-like eyes blinked at him, and she pouted, saying, "I believe you."

Lu Jian's heart melted instantly; the gloom in his heart was easily dispelled, leaving only the warm glow of the moon.

"Okay." He smiled and ruffled her hair.

Uncle Wu turned to the side early, his eyes filled with a satisfied smile, and helped the maids remove the table. He also chuckled to himself and quietly closed the door from the outside.

However, things did not develop as Uncle Wu had imagined.

At midnight, Tang Wan wrapped herself up like a rice dumpling, divided the bed into two sections with a quilt, and tied a red string between them.

Everything was ready. Lu Jian had already laid out a thin blanket on the floor behind the screen and lay down with his back to the bed.

He immediately laughed and scolded, "Fool, it's late and the dew is heavy. There's no ground heating here. You'll probably freeze to the ground and won't be able to get up tomorrow."

Lu Jian didn't move when he heard this. "It's alright, I'm thick-skinned."

Tang Wan didn't want to listen to his boasting, so she pretended to be angry and said, "It's so cold, even thick skin won't help. Hurry up and get on the bed!"

Unexpectedly, the person who was still behind the screen suddenly appeared in front of her. A wisp of cold air, along with his unique fragrance, wafted into her mind with her breath, causing her face to flush instantly.

A large, handsome face was placed before her, and slightly upturned, rosy lips uttered seductive words: "Is Wanwan offering herself to me?"

Tang Wan's heart skipped a beat at his deep voice, and she couldn't help but nod.

Lu Jian rubbed her hair, then picked up the blanket from the ground and lay down on the inside of the red line, covering himself with the blanket and tucking the edges of the blanket in.

"Goodnight~" The deep voice carried a hint of weariness, and soon after the eyelids closed gently, even breathing could be heard.

Tang Wan patted her flushed cheeks with her small hands, lay down on the other end of the red line, and her heart pounded like a drum.

My heart was pounding so hard that... I only managed to sleep for an hour.

Tang Wan, sporting huge dark circles under her eyes, stared at Lu Jian, who slammed his hand on the table and leaped to his feet: "Who hit you? I'm doing this now..."

Before she could finish speaking, Tang Wan showed him two very white eyes, "I just didn't sleep well! Which eye of yours saw me get beaten up?"

"Uh..." Embarrassed, Lu Jian quickly sat down, smoothed out the wrinkles in his clothes, and continued to elegantly hold up the translucent white porcelain bowl, looking serene and content, as he ate... plain white rice.

While eating, it seemed like she choked, but she still picked up the delicate little teacup... and gulped it down her throat.

Tang Wan covered her face, she really couldn't bear to look! Was this really the guy who had her heart pounding and kept her awake all night? How come she couldn't find a single resemblance to him except for his face? Huh?

Although... this silly look is kind of cute, hmm.

Tang Wan sighed, "Alright, do you have any other rooms here? It's really not good for a man and a woman to be alone in one room. I'll move somewhere else for convenience."

Lu Jian: "Huh?" Why did the topic suddenly change? What should he say?

"Isn't there anywhere else? I sneaked into your house in the middle of the night and saw quite a few empty rooms?"

Tang Wan swallowed the second half of her sentence.

Lu Jian sensed something was off. "Last night? What happened? Did you come looking for me?"

Tang Wan waved her hands frantically and said, "No, you misheard me. I said half past noon."

Seeing that Lu Jian didn't ask any more questions, Tang Wan finally breathed a sigh of relief.
