Chapter 4 Your son belongs to me

The next morning, Jing Xia met the dragon general again.

In an office that was as tough but not stiff as the other person's style, the other person was sitting behind a large desk, flipping through a document in his bony hands.

"Coming?"

Hearing the noise, Di Xiu looked up at the young man. He was wearing a white shirt and black trousers kindly provided by the legion members. His soft black hair was slightly curled because he had just woken up.

Tsk, when did the boss let minors out to do missions?

He took off the dragon-shaped pendant from his neck and shook it in front of Jing Xia, then Di Xiu pushed the document he had been reading forward.

"I think you should know who I am? But let me introduce myself anyway.

My name is Xiu, also known as Emperor Xiu Jasper in the interstellar world. I am a native here. I will be your mission partner and guardian during your next mission.

Belongs to the interstellar universe system fission department of the gap.

Here are the identity documents you need to live here. If there are no problems, just sign them.

After seeing the pendant made of the same material as his own, Jing Xia knew that this dragon general must have come from the same place as him and was a tasker.

So he let down his guard, sat down in the chair with the egg in his arms, smiled at Di Xiu with a pen in hand, and began to read and sign the documents, introducing himself as he signed.

"Nice to meet you. My name is Jingxia. Uncle Xinli should have told you about this. I'm in the Western Fantasy and Eastern Mythology departments. As for the subject, I haven't officially joined yet."

Emperor Xiu nodded, knowing that this young man was born in the gap and had not yet been officially recognized as a tasker. Taskers were generally classified according to the category of the world they originally belonged to.

Wait a minute? Two series?

Emperor Xiu had a bad feeling.

"Your bloodline consists of two lines?"

"Well, yes. Originally, it was supposed to depend on which side of the bloodline one inherited, but later on, it manifested in several ways, so it was divided into two sides."

Jing Xia smacked his lips and thought about the chaos that occurred when his bloodline was rejected. In the end, it alarmed the higher-ups. It took the Lord of the Gap to calm his bloodline down and directly divide it into two branches.

The Gap exists between worlds, belonging to no single one. The people who live here are chosen from various worlds by the Gap's creators, some after death, others after transcending the limits of their current world. Finally, after passing numerous tests, they travel through the universe as taskers, completing tasks and working for the world.

Some of the taskers are tasked with repairing unexpected cracks in the world, some are tasked with resolving the harmful effects brought about by those who accidentally travel through time, and some are tasked with correcting those rebellious world consciousnesses, or directly capturing and replacing them. They are divided into different departments according to different tasks.

New lives like Jingxia, born in the Gap through love between taskers, will choose upon adulthood to pass the test and become taskers or continue living in the Gap. The energy manifests differently in different worlds: for example, in the cosmic world, it's mostly spiritual power; in the fantasy world, it's spiritual energy; and in the Western world, it's mostly magic. Generally, newborns in the Gap embody a single energy from the bloodlines of both parents.

Jing Xia's mother was originally a human-dragon hybrid, a hybrid of an Eastern Golden-Eyed White Dragon and a cultivator. Her father, Bai Hao, was a chaos dragon in the Western world. Jing Xia's body not only had the spiritual blood of humans, but also the blood of the two major dragon clans, so the blood rejection was so intense at the time.

The three powerful energies within Jing Xia's body could not merge and blend, but instead fought for dominance within the body. The Lord of the Gap used his unique energy to calm the three energies, allowing them to coexist peacefully within Jing Xia's body, allowing Jing Xia to use all three bloodlines.

As Di Xiu listened to Jing Xia's story, he thought of his father, Bai Hao, his teammate during his internship, who belonged to the Western Fantasy Department.

When he and Bai Hao separated and went on his own mission, Bai Hao had been very reluctant to join the Eastern World, repeatedly complaining about the complexity of the Eastern World's knowledge and rules. He even failed the required exams before going to the Eastern World, forcing the Eastern proctor to give him extra lessons. In the end, he still had to go on the Eastern World missions alone. He couldn't believe that such a companion had found an Eastern World wife, and he couldn't help but ask curiously:

"Your father is Bai Hao?

"Um"

"And your mother?"

"Jingling"

Jing Xia looked up in confusion, wondering if we had to check the household registration book to complete a mission together?

He saw that the gentle blue eyes of the Emperor Xiu sitting opposite him turned directly into the vertical pupils of the dragon clan. As if frightened, his pupils shrank into a narrow slit, and then he closed his eyes, with veins bulging on his forehead.

"Do you know my mommy?"

Jing Xia became even more curious about this. He rubbed his wrist, which was sore from signing, and adjusted the wristband. He leaned over the table, wanting to rest for a while, tilting his head to look at Di Xiu, a strand of black hair by his ear plastered to his cheek.

"I know him. He was our Oriental Department invigilator at the time..."

Shocked by this news, Emperor Xiu began to doubt the reason why the Chaos Black Dragon failed the exam. Finally, he couldn't help but curse under his breath:

"Bai Hao, you are a bastard who forgets his loyalty for the sake of beauty."

He also wondered if it was a bit wrong for him to scold the father in front of his son, but he found that Jing Xia agreed with him.

"That's right, he's such a dog!

I still had a lot of time to prepare for the mission and wanted to sleep in a little longer, but as soon as the opportunity arose in the early morning, before I could even say goodbye to my mom, he came right at me.

“…”

Was it whipped by the tail?

Emperor Xiu finally understood why he'd found this cub on the pirate ship. Whose tasker's crack had been pulled open?! Even a dragon would have fainted! Luckily, this cub was strong and unharmed.
