Chapter 84 A married man has no private space...

Later, Shen Rong saw Ma Langhua a few more times at the Marshal's Mansion and heard her complain that Han Xiwen was in a bad mood recently, as if he hadn't done something well.

Shen Rong suppressed her laughter. As far as she knew, Han Xiwen only had one task recently, and it would be better if he messed it up!

She inquired and learned that the owner of the hat shop had not yet been caught. They speculated that the news had leaked and he had either gone into hiding or had already withdrawn from Bincheng.

However, Shen Rong felt that the most likely scenario was that they were lying low.

For half a month, everything was calm. Just when Shen Rong thought the matter was over, a phone call shattered the peace.

That day, she was looking at the flowers and trees in the small garden with her son when Guichun asked her to answer the phone, saying it was Lu Lin calling.

Shen Rong thought he had forgotten something, after all, he had only been out for a short while!

"What's wrong?" Shen Rong asked him.

Lu Lin said he bought her a bouquet of flowers, which would be delivered by the shop staff later.

She was taken aback; why send flowers out of the blue when it's neither a holiday nor a festival?

"You always say I wasn't the first person to send you flowers. Oh, right, didn't you really like the strawberries I asked someone to buy for you last year? I've had someone buy some more; they should be here soon." His voice was low, and his tone was somewhat flippant, like a spoiled young master.

Lu Lin wasn't that kind of person. Shen Rong thought he must be possessed by a demon. She took the microphone away and glanced at him again.

"Tianming, hurry up, what can't you and your sister-in-law say to each other at home? It's only been a short time since you separated!" Dou Wenliang's voice rang out.

It was even more impossible for Lu Lin to say these things to her in front of outsiders! Shen Rong had even more doubts in her heart.

"Right away," Lu Lin said to Dou Wenliang, then turned and whispered to her, "Don't forget what I told you. Remember to give them a little tip before they leave; it's not easy for them to make the trip."

"Are you very busy?" Shen Rong continued his act, following his lead.

Lu Lin hummed in agreement: "There's an important meeting later. Commander Han and the others must be getting impatient. I'll stop talking to you now. Don't forget what I said, and keep an eye on the time."

He hung up after saying that.

Han Xiwen leaned against the door with a grin: "Brother Tianming, you're really dawdling. Anyone who didn't know better would think you were going to tip someone off."

Dou Wenliang stopped him: "Tianming is not that kind of person."

Lu Lin abandoned the tenderness and warmth he showed when speaking to his wife, and said in a very indifferent tone: "Commander Han's evidence is conclusive. What use would it be for me to tip him off? You've already made all the arrangements."

"Let's go, let's have a meeting." Since they were all his right-hand men, Dou Wenliang could only act as a peacemaker.

Gui Chun carried Xiao Ming, who was looking for his mother, into the room.

"Madam, what did the master say?" Why does Madam look like this? Something serious has happened.

Shen Rong turned and went outside: "You take him aside and play with him. I need to think about something."

Her mind was a bit confused; Lu Lin's phone call must have some hidden meaning.

First of all, he wouldn't be so bored as to call just to talk about these things. And the fact that he sent her flowers and hinted at something in his words suggests it's probably not convenient for him to do so.

Shen Rong carefully recalled every word he had said.

The first person to give her flowers, she herself had said this, back when she was complaining to Wen Zhongda about him.

Last year's strawberries were also a gift from Wen Zhongda. Lu Lin sent someone to buy them because he liked them. Now that he's specifically mentioning these two things, could it be that something has happened to Wen Zhongda?

He was at headquarters, about to have a meeting with Han Xiwen and the others, but he called home. He's not one to mix public and private matters.

Han Xiwen! Shen Rong jumped up.

I recall Lu Lin's slight pause between the words "walk" and "run" just now.

"Uncle Zhang, prepare the car!"

***

As Shen Rong approached the hospital, she carefully observed her surroundings and quickly noticed something unusual.

It seemed that Wen Zhongda was indeed in trouble. She lowered her head, hugged her son tightly, and walked towards a clinic.

A little while later, they came out. Zhang Ma and Gui Chun were holding the child, and she pretended to go to get the medicine.

Shen Rong was worrying about how to meet Wen Zhongda without revealing herself when she looked up and saw a nurse smiling at her, seemingly knowing her.

"Do you know me?" Shen Rong asked.

The nurse nodded and said, "You must be Dr. Wen's friend. Your wife has been to our hospital before, and I remember you."

Shen Rong's heart skipped a beat; judging from the nurse's tone, she must be quite familiar with Wen Zhongda.

Shen Rong smiled and said, "Yes, I'm his friend. I came to see him today because the child wasn't feeling well."

She glanced around, then picked up a peach from the side: "Could you do me a favor? Give this to him and tell him I'm in a rush, my car is still parked at the back door, and I have to leave soon, so it's inconvenient for me to visit him. Tell him to come over and sit down when he has time."

Shen Rong handed the peach to her, pleading, "Please, could you please deliver this to me?"

The nurse looked at the peach in her hand, somewhat hesitant: "Now?"

Shen Rong nodded: "Thank you, right now."

The nurse found it strange; if that was the case, why didn't this lady go up herself?

Shen Rong said, "I'm waiting to get my medicine, please." She clasped her hands together, her face sincere and anxious.

"Oh well!"

"peach?"

There was only one, which left Wen Zhongda somewhat dumbfounded.

The nurse also felt it was somewhat perfunctory, especially since the peach was just grabbed from the fruit plate next to her.

"That lady said this," she repeated what Shen Rong had just said, "She seemed a little anxious. Could it be that her child's illness isn't getting better? She's still downstairs. Dr. Wen, would you like to go and see her?"

Wen Zhongda snapped out of his reverie and looked at Taozi: "No, I'm busy later. I'll visit them in a few days. Thank you, Nurse Liu. You can go now."

Nurse Liu nodded and closed the door, filled with doubt.

Wen Zhongda lifted a corner of the curtain, looked at the few people below, and said with a smirk, "We've really been targeted."

He thought he was being paranoid!

What bad luck!

He calmly pulled out the brazier from under the table. Everything inside had already burned to ashes. He carefully sifted through it to make sure nothing was missing, then poured the tea from the table into it, turning it into a complete lump of ash that no amount of skill could restore.

He then got up, picked up the white coat hanging beside him, put it on, tidied his appearance, and prepared to go out. His eyes swept over the peaches on the table, he smiled, picked one up, and took a big bite. They were quite sweet.

Luckily I have a good brother, otherwise today would have been in serious trouble.

Peach, run!

This calm demeanor is also interesting.

As soon as he stepped out of the room, two figures immediately followed behind him. Wen Zhongda smirked.

This is a hospital, he knows every nook and cranny of it. If you're so capable, then follow me!

Shen Rong watched as Nurse Liu came down, confirming that Wen Zhongda had received the news, before she finally breathed a sigh of relief.

She took her son from Zhang Ma's hands.

Son, it's up to you now. Do your best.

With her other hand, she gave his plump bottom a hard pinch. Xiaoming stared at his mother in disbelief, his little face full of grievance.

Seeing that his mother wasn't looking at him or comforting him, Xiaoming threw a tantrum and started crying and screaming.

Like a big, fat fish that had just been caught, it kept thrashing about, and Shen Rong almost couldn't hold it down.

Zhang Ma and Gui Chun coaxed him, drawing everyone's attention.

But that's not enough.

Just as Shen Rong was thinking of making an even bigger commotion, Gui Chun performed beyond her usual routine. She grabbed a burly fat man next to her and questioned him about whether he had frightened their young master.

"You're so ugly and fierce, are you trying to scare our young master on purpose!"

Shen Rong was amazed; she had never seen anything like it.

The man looked menacing and yelled, "Are you sick? I haven't even touched you!" He clenched his fist when the man called him ugly.

Seeing this, Zhang Ma rushed over: "What are you doing? Trying to hit someone? Come on, hit me here!" Her swear words were far more numerous and powerful than Gui Chun's!

More people gathered around, and some recognized the man as a local bully. Some couldn't bear to watch, fearing that the women would suffer.

When the hospital leaders heard about the incident, they rushed over. Some of them knew Shen Rong. If Lu Lin's wife had an accident in their hospital, his future would be completely over.

He sent someone to call security personnel and also asked someone he knew to persuade the man not to cause trouble.

The man's eyes widened; why should he back down?

Someone whispered a few words in his ear, and the man loosened his fist, saying somewhat resentfully, "I guess I'm just unlucky."

With a gloomy face, he apologized in a sarcastic tone: "Madam, I was blind and offended you. I apologize. I was too ugly and frightened the young master."

Shen Rong looked embarrassed. These words made them no different from bullies who relied on their power to oppress others.

"It's a misunderstanding, please don't take offense, brother. It's normal for children to cry. Our family members were just too anxious and made things up. Please don't be angry with them."

Shen Rong's words made the man's expression soften.

"I acted impulsively too."

Everyone was at fault, so they apologized to each other. Shen Rong asked Zhang Ma and Gui Chun to apologize to him, since the other party had indeed suffered an undeserved misfortune.

She glanced around and noticed someone anxiously searching for something, then smiled with relief.

The car was in the alley behind the hospital. Shen Rong had driven herself there. Before getting in the car, Shen Rong glanced at the trunk.

He started the car and quickly left the hospital. After driving for a short while, he saw a roadblock ahead and realized something was wrong.

I didn't expect them to react so quickly.

The car was stopped, and someone asked them to get out for inspection. Shen Rong remained unmoved with a cold face, clearly angry.

Gui Chun glared: "This is the Lu family's car, how dare you search it!"

The soldiers were unsure and sent someone to fetch their superior.

"Tiger!" Gui Chun recognized him.

Tiger ran over and saw Shen Rong: "Madam, what's wrong...?"

Seeing that Shen Rong's expression was not right, he exclaimed that something was wrong.

With the car not moving, Xiaoming became restless and started making a fuss.

"What's going on? What are you investigating?" Shen Rong asked.

Tiger chuckled awkwardly, "Madam, please wait a moment."

The officer was invited over, and Hu Zi went over and whispered a few words to him. The officer then came over with a fawning smile and apologized, "Mrs. Lu, my subordinates are blind and have delayed your business."

He raised his hand to signal for passage.

"Please go ahead!"

Shen Rong glanced at him, then stepped on the gas and drove away.

"Sir, is it alright to just let them go like this?"

The officer turned around and slapped the man, saying, "So you're really going to search us!"

They're really bold, searching Commander Lu's car. Do they think he has an extra head?

"Besides, there were only a few people in the car, and everyone could see them from the outside."

After driving for more than ten minutes, they passed a pastry shop. Shen Rong stopped the car and sent Gui Chun and Zhang Ma to buy something.

Wen Zhongda climbed out of the trunk, smiling as he straightened his wrinkled clothes, and bowed deeply: "Thank you, sister-in-law, for saving my life."

Shen Rong asked him, "What are your plans now? To leave Bincheng?"

Wen Zhongda shook his head: "You can't tell your sister-in-law about this."

"Lu Lin was very worried about you." Otherwise, he wouldn't have risked making that phone call.

Wen Zhongda's expression changed slightly, and his voice lowered: "Does he have anything to ask me?"

Shen Rong shook her head: "He probably just got the news. He's having trouble even making a phone call, so what else could he be saying?"

Wen Zhongda nodded with a smile, "That's true, I'm afraid Lu Lin will be furious."

"I might be causing you some trouble." He looked at Shen Rong. "Does your sister-in-law have anything to ask me?"

Shen Rong shook her head, hesitating to speak: "You really are...?"

Wen Zhongda readily admitted, "Yes, actually this is the second time my sister-in-law has saved me. I have to thank her for the time on Gulou Street, otherwise we would have been trapped."

This was something Shen Rong hadn't expected.

"It's...it's good." She had originally intended to go and save people.

Zhang Ma and the others will be back soon. Wen Zhongda said goodbye, but after taking a few steps, he stopped again: "Sister-in-law, please pass on a message to Tianming for me. I truly consider him a good friend. We share the same ideal of saving the country, but I have chosen a different path. I hope he won't blame me."

Shen Rong: "No, it won't happen." Her expression was more solemn than ever before: "You have chosen the right path."

Wen Zhongda couldn't even tell if she was mocking him, but her expression didn't seem to suggest it, so he smiled and turned to leave.

Shen Rong called him back again: "If you are safe, remember to send a message back."

Wen Zhongda waved his hand, indicating that he understood.

Lu Lin returned very late, and Shen Rong immediately got up upon hearing the noise.

"How about it?"

Han Xiwen won't give up until he catches the person. Will he be able to find out about him?

Lu Lin looked exhausted and pinched her cheek: "What are you afraid of? Don't worry, I can still handle it. The Marshal's Mansion should call you over tomorrow. Show off your young lady personality."

Shen Rong brushed his hand away. What did that mean? Was she good at being unreasonable?

She followed him into the bathroom and glared at the back of his head.

"By the way, where are my flowers and strawberries?"

Lu Lin paused for a moment: "Deliver it tomorrow."

Shen Rong was satisfied and sat down next to him, watching him wash up.

"You didn't even ask about Wen Zhongda, how do you know I'd understand?" You have way too much confidence in her abilities.

He looks at me with a face that says, "Isn't that smart? Praise me!"

Lu Lin glanced at her and spat out mouthwash: "He'll be safe as long as he leaves the hospital."

He grinned, revealing his white teeth, and began praising her again: "How could someone as smart as you not understand?"

Something about what he said seemed off; it didn't sound like a compliment.

Shen Rong was still a little worried: "Do you think he will leave Bincheng?"

Lu Lin wiped his face: "No, but there's no danger either. He's probably gone to see his foreign friends."

Shen Rong remembered something: "Oh right, he asked me to pass on a message to you, telling you never to blame him, that he considers you his best friend, the kind who will last a lifetime."

Lu Lin stared at her intently.

Shen Rong was unhappy. She hadn't gone into any detail; what kind of expression was that!

You don't believe me?

Lu Lin said helplessly, "I believe you, but Mrs. Lu, please give me some private space so I can take a shower, okay?"

After saying that, he reached out and pushed her out, and the door slammed shut.

Shen Rong blushed slightly. "Just take a bath, why are you acting like a delicate young maiden?" she thought, annoyed. She knocked twice on the door, urging him, "Hurry up!"

What private space? Married men don't have private space! Humph!
