Chapter 66 Cross-Species Compatibility

"You called me out here just to use this child's toy?"

Ainol looked at him subtly.

Bai Yi shrugged his shoulders, looking indifferent.

"It works, that's all."

Ainor smiled slightly, and her figure dissipated, turning into an airflow that circulated around Bai Yi. Yellow sand-like gas wrapped around half of his head from behind, and two airflows directly penetrated into his ear holes and deep into his ears.

"How do you like this now?"

Bai Yi only felt the wind blowing past his ears, as if someone was whispering beside him.

Bai Yi stretched out a finger and scratched his ear. He felt like he touched something soft like cotton.

"Your method is quite good, but it makes me feel like a psychopath talking to myself."

Ainol chuckled twice at his words, then calmed down and said seriously, "Let's get down to business. This doesn't seem like a good place for small talk."

"I want to contact the Sun God."

“Ahem…”

Obviously, he didn't expect Bai Yi to drop such a big bomb without any preparation. Ainol was choked and coughed for a long time.

"Oh my god, you got a royal bomb at the beginning of the card game?"

"You said we should talk about business." Bai Yi showed an innocent expression.

“I’m not saving anyone’s time.”

“…”

"Miss Ai, please don't be silent."

Seeing that she chose to remain silent, Bai Yi decided to take the initiative.

"I know you're an expert in space topology, and you were involved in the Apollo Project."

“…”

"Say something."

Bai Yi scratched his head. He didn't know what the other party's silence meant. Even if he refused, he should have said something.

"How do you know this?"

Ainol's voice began to sound wary.

"Nolan told me."

Bai Yi did not lie. He gave the other party a brief explanation of the previous border guards meeting.

"Dr. Max was there at the time. If you don't believe me, you can go back and ask him."

"Then you should ask Dr. Max." Enol's tone was no longer as enthusiastic as before. "He has more experience than me and should know more than me."

"This isn't a matter of experience." Bai Yi shook his head. "Every profession has its own expertise. I've asked privately, and Dr. Max isn't directly involved in the Apollo Project. He doesn't have direct access."

"Direct connection?" Enol grasped the key information in his words. "What do you want to connect directly to?"

"Needless to ask? It's the Sun God, of course."

Bai Yi clapped his hands, and a passing swarm of mechanical bees swayed to his feet. He stepped on them, and the swarm began to carry him forward, like the Monkey King on his somersault cloud.

"We haven't received any news from the Apollo since the Stargate War. I've always had a question. According to previous intelligence, the Apollo had already entered the space bubble where the Crystal Storm was stationed. That's why we first became aware of the existence of 'Feima'."

"However, we haven't received a single warning from the Sun God in subsequent invasions. Given the scale of the fleet Crystal Storm deployed in this invasion, their fleet deployment within the bubble must be very obvious."

"So, you're trying to say that the Sun God's crew neglected their duties, causing them to fail to notice the transfer."

"Do you think this is possible?" Bai Yi shook his head. "The Apollo 11 is the Galactic Alliance's top military reconnaissance ship. Its crew must be the best and most loyal."

"Let's take a step back and say, even if we really didn't detect the Crystal Fleet's movements at first, with Feima making such a big fuss, I believe even a three-year-old could tell something was amiss."

"So... you think they're in danger."

"have no idea."

Bai Yi answered very straightforwardly.

"I'm not sure about the capabilities of your covert operations device, but I think we should try to contact the Sun God no matter what. After all, as the first unit to infiltrate the enemy, they must possess a wealth of valuable information that could be useful to us. You're well aware of the current situation. If we want to win, we must seize every ounce of advantage."

"I..." Ainol hesitated for a while, and finally spoke.

"I was the one who led the design of the covert action device."

Bai Yi was stunned when he heard this.

"No, who are all the geniuses in your squadron 12? You and Dr. Max. Aren't you two supposed to be in some secret research institute? What are you doing in this remote place?"

"Do you think I want to?" Enol was like a little girl whose sore spot had been touched. "If those old men and women in the research institute didn't look down on me, would I come to this crappy fleet to gain experience?"

It seems that seniority will be an inevitable part of the future society.

"What about Dr. Max?"

"That's my dad!"

Bai Yi blinked twice. "Dr. Max... is at least a Homo sapiens... right?"

His mind kept flashing back to Dr. Max's old body and Enol's form in the high-pressure gas cylinder. He found that he could never connect the two organically.

"Why are you his daughter?"

Ainor said in a quiet tone, "Young man, have you ever heard of 'interspecies compatibility'?"
