Chapter 75: Retreat

Time is irreversible and it keeps moving forward.

Even the light of stars will dim over eternity.

The sun went out.

It returned to its original form, revealing its twisted shell full of bionic design.

But that's not the most striking change.

"The Crystal Storm is retreating."

Bai Yi forwarded the images captured by external photography to the shelter.

This is illogical.

All advantages on the field pointed to Crystal Storm, and they had no reason to retreat. The only variable in everything was the strange Apollo-class stealth special forces ship on the field.

Bai Yi called the host of the Sun God.

However, apart from some basic information, the other party refused to provide any other content.

"I don't have the authority."

Bai Yi narrowed his eyes and thought carefully.

He accessed the central computer remotely through Enol's authority. As the designer of the most important module on the spacecraft, Enol's authority was the same as that of the captain of the spacecraft.

"Maybe we should go up and take a look."

She said suddenly.

"Maybe the remote connection is down, and some things have to be done locally."

"Is that possible?"

Bai Yi stared at her, trying to read some other meaning from her face. Unfortunately, Enol didn't give him the chance, and she immediately turned into a ball of yellow air with no specific shape.

"If you've made up your mind, tell me and I'll go with you."

Dr. Max didn't say anything. He just stared at the Apollo on the screen, not knowing what he was thinking.

The Crystal Storm had completely evacuated the Pass C11 galaxy. They didn't even clean up the battlefield, and abandoned the severely damaged Battle Star No. 1 in a desperate escape.

Battle Planet No. 1 was completely silent at this time. It was like a large piece of dim stained glass. Only when the light from the star passed through its surface would it produce some fancy refraction.

A reconnaissance team from the New Mars has arrived at the surface of the war planet. They conducted a thorough scan of the entire war planet and finally determined that it can no longer pose a threat to the outside world.

Only after this huge threat was gone did Bai Yi have the mind to think about the rest of the things.

He directed his construction team to carry out damage control operations on the damaged parts of the new Mars, and at the same time organized an expedition team to the Apollo.

The members of the expedition team include Dr. Max, Ainol, Bai Yi, and some armed robots.

Due to the confidentiality level of the Sun God, no one else had access to it, so no one in the entire team would breathe a sigh of relief except Max.

A team of people went there in two shuttles.

The leading shuttle is filled with armed robots, which are the vanguard of the entire team.

When the shuttle approached and sent a docking request, it was immediately greeted by the Helios central computer. They docked smoothly and entered the Helios through the airlock.

After confirming that the spaceship was safe, the others followed suit. Bai Yi also prepared a satchel filled with a bunch of small props he thought would be useful.

The interior of the Apollo was incredibly strange, filled with twisting pipes and strangely sleek mechanical structures. It was like the interior of a living organism, except this one was made of cold metal.

"The Helios-class is a masterpiece of biomimicry."

Along the way, Enol introduced the situation of the spaceship to everyone as he walked.

"Our scientists drew inspiration from Tikion in designing this vessel. It can manipulate slipstreams in space and dive deeper into the Warp than ever before."

"What do you mean...deeper?"

Dr. Max asked.

“Like the ocean.”

Ainol made an inappropriate but vivid metaphor.

"Our universe is like the air above the sea. The Warp, as ordinary people know it, is the surface of the ocean. Those Warp tunnels are like the currents in the sea. When designing our routes, we will try our best to follow these currents."

"But in the past, people's knowledge was only on the surface of the ocean."

Ainol gestured downward.

“And we dived.”

"But you're designing a submarine. Not a metal anglerfish, right?"

Bai Yi suddenly interrupted.

Ainol blinked twice and asked him in confusion.

"What is an anglerfish?"

"It's a fish that lives deep in the Earth's oceans."

Bai Yi explained.

"The first dorsal fin extends forward and forms a lantern-shaped protrusion at the end. This lantern contains glandular cells that can secrete photosynthetic elements. Anglerfish hunt by exploiting the phototaxis of deep-sea fish."

“What a wonderful metaphor.”

Ainol had the expression of a curious baby.

"Then we are now the prey."

"It better not be."

Bai Yi pulled out the pistol from his waist and shook it in his hand. It was a Gauss pistol, and the bullets it fired were not traditional physical bullets but a ball of high-temperature plasma.

Although these energy plasmas are slightly lacking in penetrating power, they have extremely terrifying lethality against light armor and soft targets.

"Where are we going now?"

He asked.

"Ask Apollo."

Ainol said.

"Who is Apollo?"
