Chapter 121 You've Finally Arrived

Looking at the scene before him, Lin Xiao suddenly grinned foolishly. He must be crazy, or dizzy, or dreaming.

The boy placed the bouquet on the ground, then suddenly knelt down on one knee, pulling a small velvet box from his pocket. He opened the box with both hands to show Lin Xiao a ring with a huge diamond inside.

"I told you I'd buy you a bigger one later, I hope it's not too late." After saying this, Wei Changfeng's nose and eyes reddened, and tears streamed down his face.

Lin Xiao was certain he was either insane or dead. Had he frozen to death on the terrace just now, which was why he was having such a dream?

But she still reached out, somewhat unwilling to give up, wanting to touch the phantom in front of her.

She really touched him! Wei Changfeng's arm, the box he was holding with both hands and the ring inside, then Wei Changfeng's smooth face, and then his jet-black hair. She touched his entire body, it really was!

Wei Changfeng wanted to take out the ring from the box and put it on Lin Xiao's finger, but Lin Xiao immediately threw herself into his arms, hugging him tightly and sobbing as she asked, "Is it you? Is it really you? How did you get here? How did you end up here?"

Wei Changfeng, who was kneeling on one knee, was nearly knocked backward by her sudden lunge.

After he steadied himself and tightly embraced the little girl in his arms, he rubbed his chin against Lin Xiao's hair, greedily inhaling her unique scent.

After a long while, Wei Changfeng said softly, "Baby, shall we go inside and talk? I feel like my knees are freezing to the ground."

Lin Xiao then realized that he had been struggling to support the two of them in a half-kneeling position, so he quickly got up from Wei Changfeng's arms and pulled him into the house.

On the road not far from the cabin, Yang Xile watched the two go inside, then stepped on the gas and started the car. As he drove, he muttered to himself, "God should give me some rain or snow right now, so that it will match my sad mood."

Less than half an hour after getting on the highway, it started snowing, and the snow got heavier and heavier, making the road more and more difficult to drive on and reducing visibility.

For the first time, Yang Xile felt nervous while driving and quickly corrected his plea: "God, please don't let it snow. I don't have snow chains on my tires, it's a bit dangerous. I know I did something wrong, but I've already repented, haven't I? I've helped lovers get together, haven't I? Please forgive me this time, okay?"

Inside the hut, by the fireplace, Wei Changfeng told Lin Xiao how he got there.

About a month ago, Yang Xile returned to China and found him, telling Wei Changfeng everything about Lin Xiao and him.

This includes how the Lin family fell into trouble and was investigated, how Lin Xiao rushed back to China to save her father, how he took advantage of her misfortune to offer help but demanded that Lin Xiao break up with Wei Changfeng, and how he forced her lawyer to terminate his representation of Lin's father's case in order to coerce her into submission. It also includes the things he deliberately said that day to provoke and mislead Wei Changfeng, and how, after Wei Changfeng left, Lin Xiao braved the rain to search through all the trash cans and found the ring he had thrown away.

Yang Xile told Wei Changfeng that he had tried everything, both openly and covertly, but he just couldn't get a heart. And he wouldn't even bother with an empty shell that didn't have a heart.

Whether it was because she was being blackmailed or to thank him for his help, Lin Xiao stayed by his side. But whenever Yang Xile got close to her, she would involuntarily repel him and even tremble all over.

“I was once insanely jealous of you because you had everything she had—her body and her heart—while I gave her everything I could, and she couldn’t even accept a kiss from me.”

Yang Xile said that one day when he saw Lin Xiao walk past him, he was shocked to find that she had become so thin that she looked like a skeleton, a soulless skeleton just wandering around. It was then that he fully realized that he had indeed made a mistake and almost ruined the woman he loved so deeply.

"That's why I came to see you today. There has never been any physical relationship between Lin Xiao and me, not even once. From the heart to the body, the only person she has ever loved and longed for is you. There has never been any instance of her falling in love with someone else."

Yang Xile's voice choked up after he finished speaking. He paused for a moment and continued, "If you are like her and still can't forget her, then what I did today is not too late. If you already have a new love, then pretend I was never here today, and I will go back and try to fight for myself."

"You dare?! What gives you the right?! Try getting close to her again!" After listening to Yang Xile's whole story through gritted teeth, Wei Changfeng could no longer hold back. He stood up, clenched his fist, and delivered three solid punches to Yang Xile's face.

"This first punch is to punish you for taking advantage of your vulnerability. This second punch is to make you remember forever how she frantically rummaged through the trash can in front of you." Wei Changfeng couldn't stop crying as he said this. Just imagining that scene was like a knife to his heart.

"This third punch is to tell you how many times I wished I could die of heat and thirst on the Gobi Desert. You almost killed two people because of your own selfish desires!"

Wei Changfeng never mentioned to anyone that when he went to the Gobi Desert to film at the end of May, he was in so much pain that he involuntarily walked deeper into the desert more than once, wanting to lie down anywhere and be buried by the sandstorm, baked to death by the sun, or even bitten to death by a venomous snake that was said to be extremely rare in the desert. Because his heart ached so much, this pain sometimes spread in all directions like the sea until it swallowed him up completely.

At first, the director thought he was getting into character quickly and deeply, and even praised him. But later, he gradually realized that his behavior was sometimes off. In addition, Xiao Hao secretly told the director to have someone keep an eye on his brother, saying that his brother had been mentally unwell recently and he was afraid to go downstairs to buy things by himself, so he stayed by his side all day.
