Chapter 19 Memories of the Fairy Tale Town

Seeing Lin Xiao staring at him in a daze, Wei Changfeng asked, "What are you thinking about so intently?"

Lin Xiao realized what was happening and awkwardly covered it up, saying, "I'm trying to remember which other films you've made that I've seen."

Hearing her say that, Wei Changfeng smiled happily: "It doesn't matter if you can't remember. I will make many more excellent works in the future. Just keep an eye out for them then."

Xiao Hao glanced at his brother; that super confidence never fades.

Zhao Hui asked Lin Xiao whether he came to France for tourism or study, and why his French was so good.

Lin Xiao said that she chose French as her second foreign language when she went to university and had also made some preparations for studying abroad, so she has a certain foundation in French.

"What do you study?" Wei Changfeng asked curiously.

"High-fashion and textile fabric design," Lin Xiao replied.

"Ah, this is great, we must learn this in France!" Although Xiao Hao didn't understand it very well, he knew that French haute couture was popular all over the world and was a world leader in the luxury goods industry.

Xiaomin was also envious, saying that she would like to study styling and makeup in France if she has the opportunity in the future, because the artistic atmosphere here is so great.

"Did your travel documents go smoothly?" Lin Xiao asked.

"It went very smoothly. The people at the embassy were very nice and said I could pick it up tomorrow morning," Zhao Hui replied.

"That's good. You can renew your passports and ID cards when you get back to China. You can explore the area around Paris these next few days; there are some nice places there."

"What's the most interesting place? You speak French well, so you probably know more than we do." Wei Changfeng asked enthusiastically, his eyes sparkling like a deer's.

At this point, he shed his dazzling star aura and became more like a curious and innocent child.

Lin Xiao said, "There are several famous castles around Paris, as well as Elephant Trunk Hill, which is also a popular tourist destination. However, the most interesting time I spent in France was in a small town at the foot of the Alps."

She was referring to a place she had visited with her parents on holiday years ago, a village covered in snow and ice, which they arrived at just before Christmas.

The houses are all small wooden villas, with dark orange wood on the walls and ceilings, creating a warm and cozy atmosphere in winter, especially with the flickering firelight from the fireplace.

The town has a ski resort, and in December the snow in the Alps is already quite thick; you can see the endless expanse of white snow just by opening the doors and windows.

The family spent a week in Paris, then another week in the small town, before driving to Andorra, a country in France, and finally returning home via Marseille in the south.

What a perfect vacation it was! Even now, all these years later, whenever I think about it, I feel both incredibly nostalgic and incredibly heartbroken. Because not long after, Lin Xiao's parents went their separate ways, and her stepmother and younger sister made their grand entrance.

She never mentioned this memory to anyone, keeping it buried deep in her mind.

However, when Wei Changfeng asked her about it with great interest today, she somehow remembered it and was willing to share it.

"Is that town particularly beautiful? Is it only fun if you can ski there?" Zhao Hui became interested after hearing Lin Xiao's question.

Wei Changfeng said with a hint of regret, "Brother, can you ski? I'm not very good at it. I only received a little training once when I participated in a variety show."

Lin Xiao said, "It would be better if you could ski, because the ski resort in town is said to be a very high-level ski resort in the Alps. But that's not the interesting part. When my family and I went there to ski, none of us knew how to ski."

"Ah, what else is fun and interesting to you?" Xiaohao and Xiaomin asked almost at the same time.

"Because we went just before Christmas, we participated in their Christmas celebrations, which was very special. It felt like a dream, like being in a fairytale town."

Next, Lin Xiao recounted the scene from back then: On Christmas Eve, highly skilled skiers, carrying torches, glided down the mountain in teams, forming a fiery dragon between the dark night sky and the white snow-capped mountains, as if they were flying down from the mountains.

Then, the cable car used to transport passengers to the high-altitude ski slopes slowly arrived and stopped directly above the heads of people looking up at the fiery dragon on the mountain. Then the bottom of the cable car opened, and a rope was lowered. Santa Claus, dressed in red clothes and a red hat, with a white beard, actually climbed down the rope, carrying a large gift bag on his back.

The crowd cheered and erupted. Santa Claus descended from the sky on a rope and landed on the ground. He then began to untie the large sack on his back and throw gifts to the crowd.

Lin Xiao was young at the time, only a teenager. When he saw this scene, he couldn't tell whether it was reality or a dream for a moment, and he was completely stunned.

When she realized what was happening, she started cheering and jumping like the other children, eager to receive the gifts.

Her father picked her up and carried her on his shoulders, helping her to open her arms wide at the highest point to receive the gift.

Sitting on her father's shoulders like that was a memory she had from kindergarten. Later, her father became increasingly busy with work and spent less and less time at home. In that instant, Lin Xiao felt as if she had traveled back to her childhood.

The gifts were just some candies and chocolates, but they were all wrapped in beautiful wrapping paper and ribbons, making them very exquisite.

Lin Xiao caught several, and was extremely excited, cheering on her father's shoulder. At that moment, she truly believed that Santa Claus existed.

After Santa Claus finished scattering some candy and gifts, a sleigh pulled by a moose appeared out of nowhere. Santa Claus, with his chubby body, got into the sleigh and had the driver take him on a tour of the town.
