Chapter 4 The Ritz Paris

Lin Xiao opened the door and found a French woman with half-gray hair standing outside, who looked to be in her fifties or sixties.

After a brief conversation, she learned that the other person's name was Vanessa Martin, and that she was the manager of the entire building.

She usually looks after the houses for the landlords and is also responsible for coordinating and resolving some problems that occur when guests stay there.

Ms. Martin was delighted to be able to speak directly with Lin Xiao in French, because the tenants in the building came from different countries and had varying levels of French proficiency, and some didn't speak much English either, so communication was sometimes difficult.

She gave Lin Xiao her contact information and told her that she was in the house on the first floor, to the right of the entrance, and that she could contact her in case of any emergency.

Lin Xiao also took a liking to the seemingly kind French lady, so he took out a box of Chinese specialty food from his luggage as a gift for her.

Ms. Martin was delighted, and the two unexpectedly became acquainted very quickly. She could be considered Lin Xiao's first friend in France.

When Lin Xiao arrived at the rented house, Wei Changfeng and his group had already settled in at the hotel.

The Hotel Ritz is located in the heart of Paris, north of Place Vendôme, a prime location.

The famous Louvre Museum, Musée d'Orsay, and Paris Opera are all within walking distance of the hotel.

This palatial hotel, founded in 1898, has hosted countless social celebrities over the past 100 years.

From kings and dukes of various countries to well-known writers and actors, as well as the famous designer and legendary woman Coco Chanel, many have lived here for over 30 years.

In addition, there is the Duke of Windsor, who chose love over the throne and lived there with his lover after giving up the British throne.

Hemingway was also a frequent visitor, and it is said that he wrote his Nobel Prize-winning masterpiece, "The Old Man and the Sea," here.

Therefore, this hotel is not just luxurious, but also has a long history of culture and artistic heritage.

The hotel's exterior is not particularly eye-catching, with only five floors. Its exterior is a typical Baroque palatial architectural style, exuding elegance in its understated manner.

The moment the waiter in formal attire pushed open the door, it felt as if one had entered another world, instantly transported back to the "Golden Age" of France and even the whole of Europe.

The interior of the Ritz Hotel is incredibly luxurious and breathtaking.

The soft Turkish handmade carpets that lap underfoot, the colorful wallpapers and oil paintings, the exquisite carvings and metal decorations on the marble doorways and arches—everywhere reveals meticulous craftsmanship and attention to detail.

Even the light switches and bathroom faucets are 24K gold-plated.

Even more outrageous is the claim that the oil paintings hanging on the walls are all original works by famous painters from the 18th and 19th centuries!

The number of paintings in the entire hotel is equivalent to the collection of a medium-sized museum, so it exudes a strong artistic atmosphere everywhere.

In contrast, some hotels and decor that imitate its style are simply poor imitations.

No wonder Hemingway once said, "When I dream of what paradise will be like, it is always the Ritz Hotel in Paris."

The Ritz Hotel doesn't have many guest rooms, with just over 100 rooms in total across different categories, but it has more than 500 staff members, meaning that each guest room has at least three staff members serving it.

Wei Changfeng entered the room and smelled a very refreshing floral fragrance. The receptionist explained that all the flowers in the hotel are changed daily.

He had stayed in many five-star hotels in China, but he still couldn't help but marvel: it felt like entering a palace, not a hotel.

After the waiters and receptionists who had helped carry his luggage left, he quickly closed the door, took off his coat, and excitedly spun around in the room, like a giant leap in a waltz.

Then I lay back on the Rococo-style sofa chair and looked around the room with satisfaction.

"I heard that Madonna and Schwarzenegger always stay here whenever they come to Paris, so I'm here today too!"

"Brother, take it easy. We're a top-tier company in China, don't show weakness," his ever-concerned assistant, Xiao Hao, advised him.

Wei Changfeng laughed without any pretense: "I know, I know. I can't reveal that I'm actually a country bumpkin. I can't embarrass our people!"

He always openly revealed himself to his assistant and agent, whom he had known for many years.

Agent Zhao Hui also laughed; he knew Wei Changfeng's "background" better than anyone else.

Although he came from a family that wasn't exactly poor, it was definitely an ordinary family, but he was born with an air of nobility.

Moreover, the roles he has played, such as domineering CEOs and wealthy young masters, have deeply impressed audiences.

Therefore, the company has always kept his background vague, intentionally or unintentionally making people think that he was pampered since childhood, which is why he appears so elegant and composed.

After putting away their luggage, Xiao Hao said he was hungry. The hotel offered breakfast, so Zhao Hui, who spoke good English, ordered room service for everyone.

He experienced firsthand the thoughtfulness of the place: it turns out that besides steak, even when making omelets, they ask you how well-done you want them.

Shortly afterward, a waiter pushed in a small cart and took out various classic French breakfast dishes from under a silver metal cover.

Baguettes and croissants are of course a must, along with golden omelets, sausages in different flavors with black truffle, and several French pastries they couldn't name.

Although he only ate a few bites of salad on the plane, Wei Changfeng didn't feel hungry, but he still tried every item of breakfast.

After finishing his meal, Xiao Hao wiped his mouth and commented, "Mmm, it's delicious, but I still want to drink tofu pudding and eat fried dough sticks." His words made everyone laugh.
