Chapter 62 Hengdian in April

Springtime in Hengdian is beautiful, with peach blossoms, willows, and lush grass.

In addition to his everyday clothes and utensils, Wei Changfeng also brought a book to the Hengdian film set.

Ever since Lin Xiao told him about the illustrated book that described her life in Paris almost exactly, he became interested in the book.

I found it easily online and bought it quickly.

"Every Day in Paris" is a slim, hand-drawn picture book, divided into three parts:

Living each day to the fullest (depicting various moments of the author's life in Paris);

Love in the Markets (Introducing famous and unique markets in Paris and throughout Europe);

Always on the road (a record of the author's travel experiences in various European countries).

When Wei Changfeng flipped through this book in his spare time, he seemed to see Lin Xiao's daily life and rhythm in Paris.

Every day, I'd grab a coffee at the corner café and head home with a long baguette from the bakery. On weekends, I'd visit art museums or browse famous flea markets for interesting antiques.

As I read the book, it felt as if I were in those scenes, strolling through the streets of Paris with Lin Xiao.

As for the third part of the book, which describes the author's travel experiences in other European countries outside of France, this part is currently a blank for Lin Xiao, and Wei Changfeng has no idea what to do with it either.

During a phone call, Lin Xiao told him that he had gone to a market called Grenell last weekend, which was very large and lively.

Wei Changfeng immediately said: Ah, I know, isn't that market half a century older than the Paris Metro? And very close to the Eiffel Tower?

Lin Xiao was very surprised and asked him how he knew. Did they visit that market during their short stay in Paris last time they came to France?

Wei Changfeng smiled and told her that he had seen it in the illustrated book she mentioned, and that there was a market called Red Boy, a very unique name that he remembered immediately.

Hearing him say that, Lin Xiao laughed and asked him if he had actually bought that book to read.

Wei Changfeng said, "Because I wanted to understand your life in Paris, so that it would feel very close to you."

He suddenly said this, saying it wasn't a confession, but saying it was friendship seemed a bit ambiguous.

Lin Xiao panicked for a moment, unsure of how to respond.

Seeing no response on the other end of the phone, Wei Changfeng continued, "In two years, I'll come find you, and we'll visit every place I've drawn and written about in the book, okay?"

This sentence was even more direct than the previous one, and Lin Xiao completely panicked.

After a pause, she said, feigning composure, "I'll graduate and go back to China in less than two years. Haha, you don't want me to extend my studies, do you?"

She tried to steer the increasingly ambiguous conversation back to its original relaxed and pleasant atmosphere.

"Lin Xiao, can you wait for me for two more years? In two years I'll be 30, my career will be more stable, and I'll have fewer worries. I can be more free to be myself then. By then you'll have graduated, and we..."

"Changfeng," Lin Xiao interrupted him, "let's change the subject?"

Although Wei Changfeng's words sounded vague, Lin Xiao understood the meaning behind them perfectly.

He has many concerns about developing a romantic relationship, such as losing fans and affecting his career.

According to his own plan, he should be able to work more independently starting at age 30.

Even if he doesn't start his own business, he'll have far fewer worries and constraints. At that point, he'll probably be able to openly date.

Before this, Wei Changfeng had never said anything like this to Lin Xiao; the two had always chatted like friends. But today, for some reason, he just wanted to say everything on his mind.

"Lin Xiao, I'm serious. I know this is abrupt and presumptuous, but... but I want to tell you what's on my mind."

There was a long silence on the other end of the phone as Wei Changfeng anxiously awaited Lin Xiao's response.

Finally, Lin Xiao spoke, her tone still calm and gentle, revealing little emotional fluctuation.

She told Wei Changfeng that the future was too far away, even two years. Because no one can predict tomorrow, she didn't need any promises, nor would she make any. All they had to do was "live well" every single day.

"Changfeng, we've only met a few times, and we didn't spend more than a few days together in France."

Since neither side truly understands the other, there's an element of mystery or aura surrounding them. As time passes, these will fade.

Wei Changfeng had actually thought about what Lin Xiao said. He didn't understand why he would be so hung up on a girl who was in a foreign country in the entertainment industry, where beauties were everywhere.

He even wondered if it was because of the location. If they had met in China, or in a country as romantic as France, or in a city as magical as Paris, perhaps he wouldn't have had this inexplicable feeling for Lin Xiao.

But who can fully explain matters of the heart? If they could explain them perfectly and analyze them logically, perhaps they wouldn't be called matters of the heart anymore.

Because of his past trauma, Lin Xiao was more sensitive and cautious. Two years may not seem like a long time, but it was over 700 days and nights. What each person would experience during that time, what changes in their mindset would occur—no one could predict.

After that call, the two contacted each other much less.

Lin Xiao also thought that, besides the fact that he was busy filming, another reason might be that she herself had given him a cold rejection.
