Chapter 30 That Chinese Man Is So Stubborn

Now all we have to do is wait for tomorrow's surgery.

Agent Zhao Hui nervously called the brand's translator and manager to explain Wei Changfeng's current situation.

Not only will tomorrow's flight back to China need to be cancelled, but the planned castle visit will also have to be cancelled. This will cause a lot of trouble for the brand.

While expressing his deepest apologies, Zhao Hui told the translator Wei Changfeng that they would cover all the expenses incurred during their stay in France during the surgery, since the Ritz Hotel alone was quite expensive.

After relaying the message to the head of headquarters, the translator quickly gave Zhao Hui a reply.

She conveyed the brand's concern and well wishes, expressing full understanding of the postponement or cancellation of all events tomorrow, and that Wei Changfeng's health was of utmost importance.

Wei Changfeng's itinerary was arranged in advance with the French side, including the first few days of work and the following two or three days of rest and sightseeing. Therefore, the brand would not blame them for the changes that occurred during their free time.

The brand also stated that it would assist in resolving all issues they might face during their stay in France, including providing a car from headquarters to pick up Wei Changfeng after his surgery and return him to Paris, as well as issues such as whether he would require further treatment in Paris.

On behalf of the company and Wei Changfeng, Zhao Hui expressed his deep gratitude to the other party, saying that his condition was stable and there was no need to worry, and that he would report back to the brand after the surgery tomorrow.

After hearing the brand's response, everyone finally felt relieved and realized how hungry they were.

It turned out that after having a simple lunch at the villa in the morning, they encountered an accident at the ski resort and were extremely nervous running around at the hospital, so the group didn't eat anything until almost evening.

Lin Xiao said that the food delivery service in the town didn't seem to be very developed, so he decided to drive out and buy some food for everyone.

Zhao Hui said no need, and told Lin Xiao to take Xiao Hao and Xiao Min back to their residence to rest and eat first, while he would stay here with Wei Changfeng.

Because Wei Changfeng had to fast before the surgery and couldn't eat anything, he just bought some bread from the supermarket outside the hospital to make do.

Xiao Hao disagreed and insisted on staying at the hospital with Zhao Hui to take care of Wei Changfeng.

Zhao Hui advised, "You go and rest first. We'll take turns taking turns. We can't let this young girl suffer in the hospital."

Only then did Xiao Hao reluctantly return to his residence with Lin Xiao and the others.

Upon realizing that they couldn't return to Paris for the time being, Lin Xiao immediately extended the lease on the small villa they had been renting for a few more days.

The landlord was very easy to talk to. In fact, other tenants had already inquired about accommodation for the next two days, but the landlord said that he would give priority to the current tenants, so he declined the inquiries from other guests.

On the way back, they passed a restaurant and Lin Xiao packed several meals, but none of them seemed to have much of an appetite, as they were all worried about Wei Changfeng in the hospital.

Zhao Hui downloaded translation software on both his and Wei Changfeng's phones, which they could use to have simple conversations with the nurses.

The nurse said there was no need for a bedside companion, as someone would be there to look after him. But Zhao Hui was still worried. Even if he couldn't stay in the ward, he would sit on a bench in the hospital to keep watch over him to feel at ease.

Around 11 o'clock, Lin Xiao drove back to the hospital.

Zhao Hui was dozing in his chair when Lin Xiao's arrival woke him up, as the corridor was deserted.

"Why are you here?" Zhao Hui asked in surprise.

"I'm worried, and I can't sleep when I get back. If I hadn't suggested that everyone come here, Changfeng wouldn't have gotten hurt." Lin Xiao was still bothered by the accident and felt that he was partly responsible.

Zhao Hui knew that comforting her was useless, so he could only say, "You can come and take a look and then go back, but I don't know if they allow people to enter the ward now."

“Let’s go take a look. The French are rather laid-back, so they might not be too strict,” Lin Xiao said.

The two walked towards Wei Changfeng's ward at the end of the corridor. Because there weren't many hospitalized patients, he was able to stay in a private room.

Not seeing any nurses on duty, Lin Xiao and Zhao Hui quietly went inside.

Wei Changfeng was staring blankly at the ceiling when he heard the noise, turned around, and was quite surprised to see the two of them.

"Lin Xiao, what brings you here? Didn't you go back? Brother Hui and the nurse told him to leave, but he wouldn't. Why are you here too?"

Lin Xiao walked to his bedside and whispered, "Keep your voice down. I don't know if they're letting us into the ward now. We sneaked in without seeing anyone. Is your leg still hurting a lot? Has the swelling gone down?"

Wei Changfeng forced a smile and said to her, "It doesn't hurt anymore, and the swelling seems to have gone down a bit too."

After saying that, she added, "The nurse gave me a few pills about half an hour ago, and the pain stopped after I took them. I don't know what they were. But after I took the pills, she took away my water. I'm so thirsty now, both hungry and thirsty."

"Changfeng, just bear with it. This is for your own good," Zhao Hui comforted him. "Isn't it said that if you eat or drink, it's easy for things to go wrong when you're under anesthesia during surgery?"

"Brother, don't scare me, I'm a scaredy-cat." Wei Changfeng said with a slightly embarrassed smile.

“We’re relieved you’re alright. Is your phone still charged? If you need anything, have the nurse contact me. We’re just outside,” Zhao Hui said.

“You all go back, Brother Hui. Take Lin Xiao back with you. Isn’t the surgery tomorrow morning? You can come back then. I promise I won’t get out of bed in the middle of the night to eat.”

Zhao Hui knew that Wei Changfeng was trying to comfort him, and his nose felt a little sore. He tried to tease him, saying, "With your looks, you think you can sneak out of bed in the middle of the night to steal food? You can't even outrun a mouse."

Lin Xiao also tried to join in the fun: "Brother Hui, let alone someone with a leg injury, even a normal person can't outrun a mouse. Those things can run incredibly fast."
