Chapter 33 Lying Again

To minimize the discomfort caused to Wei Changfeng by the bumpy ride, Xiao Hao drove slowly on the way back, and it took more than three hours to return to the Ritz Paris Hotel.

The hotel staff thoughtfully prepared wheelchairs and canes to wait at the door, demonstrating their attentiveness and care for the guests.

Zhao Hui decided to ask the doctors in Paris to assess Wei Changfeng's condition tomorrow, and if possible, they would start preparing to return to China.

After everyone settled into the hotel, Lin Xiao went to Wang Wei's house to return the car, but was insisted on staying at Wang Wei's house for dinner by Wang Wei's mother, Aunt Zhang.

Wang Wei is rather free-spirited and only occasionally helps out at his father's company. He doesn't have a fixed position, which is why he was able to temporarily take over that tour group for his friend a while ago.

After Lin Xiao contacted him yesterday to say he was going back to Paris and returning the car today, he stayed at home and waited without going out.

For some reason, Wang Handong did not mention to his wife and children that Lin Xiao's injured friend was a celebrity. Perhaps he felt it was not important at all, or he thought that Wei Changfeng was just an ordinary artist, and even if he told his wife and son, they might not know.

The impact of Wei Changfeng being the Asian ambassador for a French brand is mainly limited to Asia, especially China. Wang Handong is busy with business and doesn't pay attention to these matters, so he is unaware of it.

Wang Wei's mother and the family's housekeeper prepared a lot of delicious Chinese food, saying that they were worried that Lin Xiao wouldn't be used to Western food. They also called Wang Handong to come home as soon as he got off work.

Wang Handong returned home quickly after receiving his wife's permission; after all, he was the boss in the company and had some freedom.

While Wang Wei's mother was preparing the meal, Lin Xiao wanted to help, but unfortunately she didn't know how to do much, so she could only assist the kitchen helper.

Looking at the girl bustling around in the kitchen, Mrs. Wang liked her even more. She had no spoiled or pampered airs, was observant, had a good personality, good looks, and a good family background. Where could she find a better daughter-in-law?

Lin Xiao was overwhelmed by the enthusiasm of Wang Wei and his mother. Their intentions were too obvious, and Lin Xiao was a smart and perceptive person, so how could he not notice them?

While the food was being prepared in the kitchen, Wang's mother probably couldn't hold back any longer and asked Lin Xiao directly if he had a boyfriend during their conversation.

To avoid unnecessary trouble in the future, Lin Xiao decided to lie again.

So she told Wang Wei's mother that she had a boyfriend and was currently pursuing a master's degree in the country.

Upon hearing this, Wang Wei's mother's enthusiasm for cooking seemed to be instantly halved. But thinking about it, it makes sense; how could such an outstanding girl not have a boyfriend?

"Why didn't your boyfriend come to France to study with you? You could take care of each other," Wang's mother asked tentatively.

Lin Xiao smiled and said, "His major is better suited for graduate studies in the country; it's a relatively unpopular field."

"Hmm," Wang's mother said, thinking about what to talk about next while busy with her hands, "Are you two engaged? You'll be getting married when you come back from studying abroad, right?"

"Not yet, I want to wait until I finish my studies," Lin Xiao replied vaguely.

"Oh, that's great, unlike my son, who's getting on in years and doesn't even have a girlfriend, making his father and me worry so much."

Xiao Xiao, if you know any outstanding girls, introduce them to Wang Wei.

"By the way, don't you have a younger sister? I think I heard Old Wang mention her."

Lin Xiao paused for a moment. The woman Wang Wei's mother had mentioned was her younger sister, the one she least wanted to talk about. Clearly, Wang Wei's mother, or rather Wang Handong, didn't know the specifics of her family's situation.

Seeing that Lin Xiao didn't answer, Wang's mother smiled and said, "Oh dear, did I remember wrong? My brain sometimes forgets things."

"You're not mistaken, I do have a younger sister, who is two years younger than me."

"Oh, she must be in her early twenties? Is she pretty?" Upon hearing Lin Xiao's affirmative answer, Wang's mother immediately became interested.

"She's very pretty. She just graduated from university last year and is getting engaged soon. She probably has too many suitors."

"Ah~" Wang Wei's mother sighed regretfully, then immediately realized that her intentions had been too obvious, so she tried to salvage the situation by continuing:

“These days, young people are either too old to get married or date, or they get engaged and married right after graduation. It’s one of those extremes. It’s the same here in Paris.”

Lin Xiao nodded in agreement, and the two chatted awkwardly in the kitchen.

Wang Wei wasn't in the kitchen, so he was unaware of this little incident before the meal, and he remained exceptionally warm towards Lin Xiao during the meal.

Observing from the side, Wang's mother knew that in addition to her and her husband being satisfied with Lin Xiao, her son was also quite fond of him.

It's a pity that Lin Xiao has a boyfriend in China, but since there's a long way to go and two or three years of studying abroad isn't a short time, who's to say that the two of them will definitely end up together?

Perhaps after experiencing this distance in time and space, their relationship will soon come to an end. I just wonder, what "stage" had Lin Xiao and her boyfriend reached?

Sigh, I'm such an old-fashioned person. How can I expect girls to remain chaste until they meet my son? Mrs. Wang thought to herself as she shook her head.

Although her son Wang Wei hadn't brought any girlfriends home seriously, she, as his mother, knew a little about his past relationships. So what right did she have to demand anything of a girl? That would be a huge double standard.

The meal at the Wang family's house was quite enjoyable; it was the most homely and delicious food Lin Xiao had eaten since arriving in France. After all, Chinese tastes and stomachs are hard to change no matter where in the world one goes.
