Chapter 78 Two Kinds of Affection

During his free time back in Beijing, Wei Changfeng bought a lot of local delicacies for Lin Xiao and sent them to her via international airfare.

She received a huge box filled with a dazzling array of items, from "Eight Delicacies of Beijing" snacks to plastic-sealed Peking duck.

Looking at the contents of the box, Lin Xiao was both amused and exasperated. The international postage for thousands of kilometers was probably more expensive than the price of these snacks.

Most of these Chinese food products can now be bought in Chinese supermarkets in Paris, without the hassle of shipping them overseas.

Wei Changfeng had never lived in France for an extended period, so he was unaware of this. He also saw online that many people said international students abroad had a tough life, especially regarding food, which was quite meager, so he bought all these things.

Lin Xiao had never been fed such a "snack gift pack" from afar before. Although she knew that the snacks could be bought here, she was still very happy.

When Feng Jinglin was in college, she was in Shanghai, and they could buy almost anything from both places.

Moreover, Feng Jinglin comes from a family of doctors and is very particular about what he puts in his mouth. He considers whether the food is clean and hygienic, whether it contains additives, and whether it is nutritious.

Therefore, he considered most snacks to be junk food, and since he didn't eat them himself, he naturally wouldn't buy them for Lin Xiao.

Lin Xiao didn't know what Wei Changfeng was thinking, actually mailing her such a big bag of food. But she remembered something her former roommate had said: when boys meet girls they like, they can't help but want to "feed" them.

While sending the international express package, Wei Changfeng also told her that he had bought her other gifts in addition to these snacks, which he would give to her in person when she returned for summer vacation.

Lin Xiao was touched. Even though she had clearly rejected him before, Wei Changfeng still contacted her whenever he had time, even if it was just a voice message. He would often send her messages, sometimes telling her funny stories from filming, and sometimes sending her a few selfies to ask her how she looked.

What he really wanted to ask wasn't about the styling; he just wanted to hear Lin Xiao say that he was really handsome.

Besides Wei Changfeng, Yang Xile also seems to care about Lin Xiao.

Before he returned to China for Easter, Lin Xiao casually mentioned that if he had time, he could help him find some ethnic tie-dyed fabrics in China.

Yang Xile knew nothing about fabrics and textiles. In the past, when buying clothes, she would just buy whatever she liked from high-end luxury brands without paying attention to the craftsmanship or materials.

Lin Xiao has a course in the second semester that requires all students to introduce the distinctive textiles and clothing of their own country or ethnic group. Since she's in France, she can only download information online and can't get any actual examples. However, it's an assignment for the next semester, so she's not in a hurry; if she goes back to China during the summer, she'll have plenty of time to find them.

However, before leaving, Yang Xile asked her if there was anything she wanted to bring back. She casually mentioned it, knowing that this request was a bit too demanding for a guy who didn't know much about such things, so she didn't take it too seriously.

Unexpectedly, Yang Xile brought back a whole box full of fabrics! There were three kinds of tie-dyed fabrics from ethnic minorities, as well as a kind of fabric with a floral pattern woven using traditional brocade techniques.

Lin Xiao was overjoyed and asked Yang Xile how he found these treasures. First of all, how did he come to know this knowledge?

"Hey, don't even mention it. Of course I don't know anything. I was just afraid of making a mistake and delaying the matter you entrusted to me, so I found a professor from Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology to give me a lesson."

"What?" Lin Xiao's eyes widened.

Yang Xile proudly shook her head and said, "Sister, you didn't expect this, did you? The person I found is a specialist in traditional textile techniques and ethnic costumes, and has even published several books."

Hearing him say that, Lin Xiao felt embarrassed. He realized how much trouble his casual remark had caused others.

Yang Xile continued, "The old professor talked to me at length, but I didn't remember much. But time was tight and the task was heavy. I could only stay in China for two weeks, and I was afraid I wouldn't have enough time, so I asked someone to find the fabrics the professor had told me to find. Sister, you see, these pieces of fabric may not look like much, but they were all sourced locally and can't be bought in the market."

"Xile, I'm so sorry to trouble you. Actually, I can take my time looking when I go back to China this summer, there's no rush."

Looking at Lin Xiao's apologetic expression, Yang Xile smiled and said, "Sister, you're being too polite. But if you think these fabrics are useful and want to thank me, that's fine too."

Lin Xiao smiled and asked, "Okay, what kind of thanks do you want?"

Yang Xile raised an eyebrow and looked at her: "Any way you want to thank me is fine?"

Lin Xiao glared at him: "Say something reliable."

Yang Xi chuckled, "I want to eat the dish you made for Xiao Yu last time. She said it was really delicious. You've never made it for me, and you didn't invite me to your last get-together."

"It's a girls' get-together, how could I invite you? But considering how hard you went to find these fabrics for me, I'll cook you a big feast, okay?"

Yang Xile beamed with joy. Although he had just returned from a two-week period of "feasting" in China and was still quite well-fed, Lin Xiao's personal cooking made all the difference.

It's true that living abroad is a great way to improve oneself. In just a few months, Lin Xiao has gone from not being able to cook instant noodles properly to being able to cook several signature dishes. If her father, Lin Haitao, knew this, he would be very surprised.

Yang Xile asked Lin Xiao how he spent the two weeks of Easter holiday.

Lin Xiao spread out his palm and showed it to him.

Although she only worked at Nantes Farm for 10 days, faint marks were left on her hands where she held the tools.
