Chapter 103

Chapter 103

The world is unfair.

Professor Arnold knew this very well.

Unfortunately, he spent his entire life on a research project but didn't achieve good results. In the end, he died of old age, becoming a tombstone on the journey of genetic achievement.

Arnold became cynical about this, but he never expected to encounter another unfortunate researcher. This unfortunate person was the opposite of Professor Arnold. Although he also lived in difficult conditions, he survived healthily and happily through hard work. He did not grow up to be ugly, nor did he become an evil antisocial person, or a pervert with low self-esteem and a terrible personality. Instead, he was like a sunflower.

A child raised like that still has the capacity to help other insects.

Maintaining his inner passion was already difficult enough for Arnold. While Professor Arnold found it laughable, he couldn't deny that he was extremely envious.

Mr. Sunflower even invited his father to the wedding.

When Arnold came in, he saw that the guy named Enoch was sitting quietly in the corner, with an insect staring blankly out the window, seemingly lost in thought.

Professor Arnold thought that Torregia probably cherished the Zerg that appeared in his limited lifespan.

Thinking about this, Professor Arnold did indeed discuss the issue of lifespan with Toto.

This is the Achilles' heel of the lowest-ranking Zerg. As the only short-lived species among the Zerg, premature aging is like a low-quality genetic mark, enough to make any low-ranking Zerg blush with shame and embarrassment when they mention it.

But Toto didn't react much to this.

“Life and death are both normal things,” he said while conducting the experiment. “Death is the destination of life, sooner or later.”

In the past, countless Zerglings told Arnold that the lowest-ranking male Zerglings were like dust covering jewels; perhaps some Zerglings would appreciate it, but the vast majority would brush the dust away.

But Toto shrugged and said, “What dust? I don’t care what they think… Ah, Professor, dinner tonight has your favorite Weems’ signature stew.”

Professor Arnold sometimes laughs about it when he thinks back on it.

When Torregia saw Arnold, he waved vigorously, a charming smile spreading across his face. He looked much more mature than when he was in his school uniform; the crisp, black clothes made him look no longer childish, but like a young male insect about to shoulder family responsibilities.

“Professor Arnold, I am very pleased that you could come.”

Professor Arnold snorted upon hearing this, then turned his gaze to the polite and refined commander who had followed behind: "If Your Excellency's first wedding is so frugal, then I'm afraid the ceremony will have to be omitted for the second wedding as well."

The words were laced with sarcasm. Fei chuckled lightly, his gaze calm: "There will be no second wedding."

Who knows? It's not uncommon for long-lived female insects to remarry after their mates die.

Professor Arnold's expression was cold; he was essentially unwilling to believe these female insects who talked nonsense. However, given Fei's consistently high level of integrity as a commander, Arnold did not refute him but instead invited Fei to speak privately.

Toto was left alone, and he breathed a sigh of relief, finally able to get some rest.

At the wedding, the Commander's family members were absent, as a sign of their displeasure with his hasty decision to marry.

But when your invitation was rejected, you were not upset at all; on the contrary, you showed no interest and did not even bother with any polite greetings before abruptly ending the private video call.

Even as a newlywed, Toto was still nervous: "Are you really okay?"

Fei smiled slightly. He had been in a good mood since getting married and was willing to take action.

For example, right now, he kissed Toto's lips and said in a sighing tone, "Tregear, they're adult insects, still playing the trick of 'I'll refuse to talk to you if you don't do what I want.' I didn't do that when I was ten."

“Okay,” Toto had no choice but to say.

Toto didn't care about this. After Fei decided on the guest list, Toto called his father and briefly told him about the upcoming wedding.

The male father's voice was calm, and he hung up the communication without saying much. However, after that, the commander's communication kept ringing, but he himself had no intention of answering it. Instead, he opened a book called "100 Questions on the Wisdom of a Wise Woman" and began to read it with elegance and restraint.

Let's go back to the present.

Toto poured a glass of water for Xiong's father and handed it to him.

This gesture hadn't been made in a long time, and Enoch was visibly taken aback for a moment before taking the water glass from his child.

Toto really resembles his father; his eyebrows, eyes, and expressions are all identically calm and composed, even his silence is strikingly similar.

He was still the same calm and sensible Toto, but Enoch always felt that he was becoming less important to Toto, even though Toto had always been very good to him.

The wedding ceremony was simple yet solemn.

Toto and the Commander chatted and toasted with each of the invited guests until late at night, when the guests gradually dispersed. The wedding had reached its most crucial and intimate step: how to spend the night.
