Chapter 47

Chapter 47

Fang Xu hadn't gone to work for many days. He received countless messages urging him to show up, but he just shrugged them off, ignoring them and even turning off his phone.

Going to work—it's boring. I turn over and sigh, like a sleepy bear in winter, curled up in the blanket, slowly changing my position, my butt sticking out and collapsing into a dejected "X" shape.

Why?

have no idea.

Over the years, he has never lacked love. The world keeps turning no matter who is missing, let alone someone who is not a big deal to him. Even if they don't see each other or hear about each other, he will only be sad for a short while. When he meets someone new, he will completely leave them behind.

Even after breaking up, I don't feel guilty about having sex with other people. I just feel like I still prefer being on top and I'm not used to being penetrated. If I make similar requests to others, he might ridicule or mock me. If we really disagree, I can simply stop meeting up.

But if it's southward, then it doesn't seem like a big deal.

It's not about being a germaphobe or having a first-time fetish; it's just that I vaguely feel a sense of fulfillment and happiness when the other person hugs me.

But at the time, he couldn't help but feel that kind of feeling came too easily. He wasn't a naive young man when it came to relationships. He was the kind of guy who recognized his sexuality in high school and started dating the basketball team captain. He was definitely not innocent.

Hot, shy, aloof – his past romantic partners have been diverse, and given his personality, he could easily remain friends with his exes after a breakup. Why would he have a falling out with his exes to the point of no contact?

Nanfei was an exception; she liked him, but didn't love him that much.

As I thought about it, I suddenly felt indignant and angrily picked up the mushrooms from the shelf, intending to throw them out the window.

Ultimately, it might all be the fault of this pot of mushrooms. If I hadn't taken them home out of a moment of weakness, I wouldn't be in this state now, as if I'd been poisoned by a soul-separating curse.

But standing by the window, hesitantly peering out, holding the box but unable to let go, he felt a strange pang of sadness. After sighing for a while, he slapped his thigh and picked out many bottles of wine from the cabinet.

This is his usual way of solving problems: mix red wine with white wine and gulp it down straight from the bottle.

Having a high alcohol tolerance makes it difficult to get drunk, so you can actually take advantage of that by letting yourself be a little careless and then forgetting everything when you wake up.

Oh, and I also need to turn off my phone and unplug the landline to prevent myself from making calls everywhere when I'm drunk.

Jingyao stood at Fang Xu's door for about three hours.

As soon as she opened the door, she smelled a strong odor of alcohol. Jingyao's heart skipped a beat. She rushed into the house and found the guy, who hadn't been seen for seven or eight days, lying drunk on the sofa. He had successfully gotten himself drunk and was mumbling incoherently.

Listen carefully, and you can hear him mumbling "It's not like that." Jingyao breathed a sigh of relief. She didn't wake him up or drag Fang Xu away. After confirming that he was still breathing, she dragged the blanket out of the bedroom and threw it on Fang Xu. She took a few ugly photos of him with a runny nose, fulfilling her last duty as a friend.

Sure enough, the next day, the person appeared in the store lively and energetic, showing no signs of the confusion and dejection they had shown before.

Fang Xu went back to work, not wanting to care about Nan Fei's affairs. He resumed his previous life, dating, making friends, and living a carefree life, partying until the wee hours of the morning.

I learned that Beihai hadn't been there for a while, and although I was curious, I didn't ask. I would just occasionally stop at the intersection to look around when I drove past that neighborhood.

Although Bei Hai doesn't frequent the entertainment circle, he does know a few friends. Fang Xu heard from them that he and someone else recently went abroad to get their marriage certificate.

One of the gay men was particularly well-informed; his family owned a supermarket, and they lived in the same neighborhood as Beihai, often running into each other from different floors. He could easily guess what kind of family Beihai was in.

He was both surprised and delighted to see that Fang Xu was interested, and wanting to please him, he told him everything he knew.

Fang Xu, with a cigarette dangling from his lips and one hand supporting his chin, listened intently to the young gay man's words, which made the young gay man blush deeply and stammer several times before he could speak fluently when he started talking about the neighborhood gossip he had been secretly following.

"They've always been lukewarm towards each other; I thought they were just roommates."

"You've never seen anyone like his partner before. Let me put it this way, he's incredibly straight. Even with my sharp eyes, I couldn't tell he was gay at first glance. Nobody would believe they're a couple."

"Moreover, Beihai's father is Bei Guozheng, right? He's rich and doesn't want his son to be gay. When the two first started dating, he tried to sabotage Beihai's girlfriend, but she caught him red-handed and sued him. Such a respectable old man almost ended up in jail. Beihai's pleas for leniency were useless. Later, when Bei Guozheng got out, he actually took the initiative to invite his girlfriend to dinner. His girlfriend has quite a temper."

"Beihai really likes him, she can't hide it at all, but she doesn't seem to be interested in him. I originally thought it was just a one-sided crush on Beihai, but I didn't expect that they were actually dating seriously."

"Who dates like that? That's so boring."

"Just a few days ago, they had a fight, I think. Anyway, they always go home together. Those few days, only his girlfriend from Beihai went grocery shopping. Hey, she seemed super calm, like nothing happened."

"But in Beihai, people seem to have lost half their souls."

"However, I think it's not necessarily a case of one-sided enthusiasm between the two of them."

“Every time, after Beihai enters the building, it takes five or six minutes before the lights in his apartment go out. His girlfriend waits for him to come home.”

"And another thing, his girlfriend works in education and never flirts with Beihai in public. But a few days ago, during the time when the two were arguing, his girlfriend came in holding Beihai's hand and even greeted me."

"I just think they're a good match."

"Sure enough, they went to get their marriage certificate a while ago. I heard that his girlfriend didn't originally intend to do this, but I don't know how Beihai arranged it, anyway, they went to get the certificate."

"Ah, you have a cigarette..."

Halfway through his sentence, the young gay man cried out in surprise. Only then did Fang Xu realize the burning pain in his fingers. The cigarette had burned out without him noticing. He subconsciously shuddered, his smile faded, and his beautiful eyes looked somewhat lonely, trembling like butterfly wings.

The young gay man asked anxiously, "What's wrong with you?"

Fang Xu lowered his head and chuckled, resting his cheek on his hand: "Nothing much."

He asked again, "Do you like me?"

The young gay man blushed slightly, feeling a little embarrassed but not wanting to miss the opportunity: "No one dislikes you, right?"

Fang Xu put his arm around his shoulder, smiling, but his eyes betrayed a hidden meaning.

Years passed after that.

Fang Xu's life was all alone now, and that person had nothing to do with him anymore.

The mushroom pot is still being kept.

They never saw each other again.
