Chapter 85

Chapter 85

The room fell silent for a moment, save for the sound of Merck making tea.

The female soldier's skin was incredibly white, and her thick, dark brown hair was neatly combed, revealing her refined and handsome face.

He was unhurried, extending his hand first and bowing slightly, his demeanor refined yet efficient, revealing his military female identity: "Mr. Madison."

"Commander."

The two Zerg players shook hands politely, then immediately withdrew their hands at the same time.

Enoch slid his wheelchair to a stop on the right, his expression indifferent. After staring at Fei for a moment, the ailing male insect's eyes flickered slightly, and a polite but emotionless smile appeared on his cold lips.

"Thank you for your help."

Fei smiled faintly, sitting on the left side of the sofa, his gaze level with the two insects', no longer looking down at them: "It's just a small favor."

Enoch pointed to the gift box: "A small token of my appreciation."

Fei said calmly, "You're too kind." But he didn't refuse and accepted it quite readily. For the insectoids who grew up in the noble class, exchanging pleasantries was as simple as eating and drinking, and this wouldn't change at all because he was Toto's father.

Merck brought in afternoon tea, and as usual, he prepared some of Toto's favorite snacks.

Toto disliked learning the aristocratic lifestyle, and after observing him for a while, Fei stopped imposing restrictions on his dining etiquette.

Toto had made it a habit to take care of Xiong's father at home and knew his tastes well. He used a small plate to pick up some snacks that Xiong's father might like and quietly placed them on his right side. But he was afraid that Xiong's father would feel uncomfortable, so he moved a little further away and obediently moved next to Fei.

Fei: "v"

He picked up the tea he didn't usually like, took a sip, and said in a gentle, calm tone, "You should try it. The taste of Haberyl black tea will make the Zerg forget their troubles."

Enoch lowered his eyes and said indifferently, "Is that so? I no longer like drinking tea."

Merck immediately stepped forward, shaking hands: "Excuse me, sir, I'll prepare another drink for you. Would juice be alright?"

Enoch gently shook his head. He glanced out the window and then at Toto. He had something to say, but before he could speak, he sat quietly for a while, and then the female soldier returned.

Enoch could never control his own destiny, being led around like a puppet. As an adult, he was unwilling to become a vassal, so he tried to escape but was captured by space pirates and lost both legs during his prison break.

Sorim, that cold-blooded space pirate, picked him up from the garbage dump, carried him home when he was about to die, and used all his money to buy him back. Even when his friends said he was no longer of any use, Sorim just silently took out money.

Enoch didn't know what to do.

He couldn't love them.

Solim never asked him to say anything nice, and he seemed to have never enjoyed family life. Enoch couldn't accept him and his temper got worse and worse. Solim never said anything unnecessary, so the two of them made a mess of their lives.

But under these circumstances, they managed to raise a male insect egg.

The egg hatched silently, then cried loudly, transforming from a tiny infant into a round-faced child, carrying a small bow and axe, playing with pebbles on a woodpile.

Enoch wanted to touch his head and look at his rough little hands, but the child had grown up into a young man, so steady and reliable, with a proper appearance.

So Enoch said, “I bought you an apartment and a shop. The apartment isn’t as big as this, but it has a lawn.”

He silently put down the keys, his gaze slightly lowered, and said, "I transferred some money to you, and here's an address..."

The voice was very soft and gentle, as if it wasn't making a request, but rather saying something unrelated: "If you're not busy in the future, you can come to this address. You don't need to come too often. If you don't have time, once a year is fine."

That house was carefully selected, representing the maximum amount of assets that Enoch could take with him and cash out.

Enoch didn't care much about himself. He converted most of his assets into real estate to ensure Toto wouldn't be homeless, and then bought himself services at a secluded nursing home where he would live out his days without becoming a burden to Toto.

Toto kept his head down. He was originally closer to Fei, but by the time Enoch finished speaking, the young male insect had already squatted down next to Enoch. He spoke with difficulty, "Father, don't you want to see me?"

Is it simply to repay a favor to the Commander that you made this request?

Enoch opened his mouth, and Toto thought he wouldn't answer, but unexpectedly, those hands touched his head, cold and calm: "No, after leaving, I missed you a lot."

"They didn't want to leave, but the Madisons took them away."

Toto froze, then looked up at Enoch: "Father."

Enoch remained expressionless and said, "I'm sorry, when you fell into a puddle as a child, I didn't pull you out because I hated that place too much."

"I'm sorry, I never said anything like 'I care about you'."

"I'm sorry, you've been a good girl, but I've never said that to you."

"I'm sorry, it must have been hard for you, an insect, to collect your female father's body."

"I'm sorry for leaving you to spin your cocoon alone."

I'm sorry.

Toto's expression froze, then was abruptly broken. He wanted to say, "It's okay, it's alright, it's not like that," but he couldn't say any of those words. It was as if he had lost his language for a moment. He tried to calm down, but he couldn't control himself well.

Fei sighed softly, walked over to Toregia, and knelt down to offer him a firm word of comfort, but before he could get close, Enoch Madison blocked him away.

The other person's eyes were slightly red, clearly still immersed in their emotions, but their hands steadily protected Toregia at their side, as if guarding against some shameless lecher.
