Chapter 91
Toto hasn't touched the terminal for two years.
His basic sciences are far behind, and it will take many times longer to catch up, which results in him not getting enough sleep every day.
Fei was not indifferent; he often asked himself when he couldn't see Toregia whether he should let him persist.
But no matter how busy Toto is, she still makes time to have dinner with him and take a walk together.
Receiving the other person's precious time and companionship brought Fei peace and joy, suppressing the gloom and worry in her heart.
He realized that he cared too much about Toregia. As an elder, it was understandable, but as a female insect, his concern for a male insect with no blood relation made Fei slightly unsure.
After much self-reflection, he concluded that it was merely a protective instinct at play, and that perhaps seeing Toto grow up and have friends, love, and a family would help him clarify his feelings.
During this period, after two years of racing against time, Toto lived up to expectations and obtained permission to enter Professor Arnold's laboratory, and even more unexpectedly, he achieved the top score in his grade.
Fei then decided to hold a banquet for Torregia.
Toto was quite helpless about this. Before the dust settled, he tried to discuss it with Fei: "Your Excellency, is it really necessary to invite so many people?"
The female soldier, who was adjusting her uniform in front of the mirror, turned around upon hearing this.
A breeze lifted the pea-green gauze curtains, letting in soft sunlight. The female soldier's face was deathly pale, and her thick, neat dark brown hair had a few loose strands falling onto her smooth forehead, making her look both refined and carefree.
In recent years, the military has redesigned the uniforms of female military personnel. The original simple and austere dark green has been changed to a pure black mixed with a mechanical style. The uniforms of senior officers have also been enhanced with many intricate yet cold details, which can be said to perfectly match the identity of female military personnel.
The sunlight streaming into the living room illuminated the soldier's smoky blue eyes. His gaze fell vaguely on Toto, the child's immaturity and bewilderment fading away.
The male insect, named Toregia, has a pair of dark gray eyes.
His eyes were clear and cold, and he seemed aloof.
However, a few Zerg can penetrate the ice and reach that warmth.
The male insect shed its heavy school jacket, revealing a fitted silver-gray vest. The carefully chosen vest accentuated its waist, sculpting its muscular back along its straight shoulders. The matching trousers were simple and sharp, but were adorned with decorative black leg garters at the mid-thigh, symbolizing power.
Fei found it hard to ignore that place.
He felt it was unnecessary, but considering Merck's insistence, he didn't insist too strongly that it be removed.
Fei snapped out of his reverie, ignoring the small ornament that was affecting his mood, picked up the jewel- and silver-inlaid cane, and comforted the male insect, telling him not to be nervous.
Toto wasn't nervous; he felt extremely helpless, but unfortunately, he couldn't convince Merk and Fei. He explained, "I just feel it's unnecessary. You know I don't plan to enter politics, or even go into business. I don't think social circles are very meaningful to me."
Fei remained noncommittal, offering gentle advice, but the banquet proceeded as scheduled.
The students who received Toto's invitation all received formal invitation letters, but at first, they didn't take it too seriously.
After all, the male insect might have some background, but from the start of the semester to the end of the first semester, Toregia did not show any special characteristics, which greatly disappointed the insectoids who had speculated that he came from a wealthy family.
"They are nothing but vulgar, third-rate Zerg. How could they possibly be worthy of the nobility of God Star?"
"This kind of invitation must be from some poor hotel."
Such rumors spread like wildfire until one insect opened the invitation, revealing the red family crest. The mockery stuck in his throat. After confirming it again and again, he looked at the calm-faced male insect and it was as if he saw a glittering golden tower.
"You and...this Commander are..."
Toto's tone carried a hint of forced displeasure: "Which one? Lord Fei?"
The insect: "..." Just call it by its name.
No matter how unwilling Toto was, or how troublesome it was, he couldn't stop the moment from arriving.
He wore clothes carefully prepared by Merck and exchanged pleasantries with the Zerg from different social classes and regions.
His name appeared in the public eye for the first time.
Every Zergling came over to clink glasses with him, celebrating his academic success, but their eyes betrayed a different story.
Fei left the male insect at the lively banquet and sipped his chilled wine from a high place. The guard stood beside him with his arms crossed, glanced at his superior who was drinking silently, then looked at Toto, and suddenly understood. He put his arm around Fei's shoulder and said in a deep voice, "It's really not easy for you to have figured it out."
Fei brushed aside the guard's hand, then, sensing something amiss, raised an eyebrow slightly: "Have you figured it out?"
The guard officer was moved: "Yes, you've finally been willing to withdraw your distorted affection."
Fei's lips twitched, but he didn't make a move. He turned his back, drank the chilled wine, and said calmly, "You're overthinking it."
Guard Officer: "There's a female insect confessing her love to Toto."
Fei Shuai turned around.
