☆3. Chapter 3: Overcoming Difficulties Together

Chapter 3 Overcoming Difficulties Together

"Brother, this way!"

Gu Feixue called out and Gu Tingchuan rushed over immediately.

When he saw Pueraria root, although Gu Tingchuan didn't know what it was, he knew it looked edible at least, and his eyes lit up.

"Xue'er found it?"

Gu Feixue touched her nose and said guiltily, "Hmm... I saw a small bulge here."

"Xue'er is awesome!"

Gu Tingchuan rubbed his sister's little head excitedly and started digging with a stick skillfully.

Soon several thick and strong kudzu roots were dug out.

"These should be enough to last us for a while."

The two of them walked around again and actually found a lot of herbs used to detoxify.

These herbs were probably preserved because they were difficult to swallow.

Gu Feixue quickly picked a full handful and stuffed her waist bag full.

The two of them had a great harvest and finally got down the mountain before dark.

Although the heavy kudzu root made his shoulders hurt, Gu Tingchuan felt extremely comfortable in his heart.

Since being exiled from the capital, they have almost forgotten what proper food tastes like.

When Gu Tingchuan took out the Pueraria root, Wang's eyes lit up.

“There’s even this?”

Gu Tingchuan rubbed Gu Feixue's little head proudly: "Xue'er found them all!"

Looking at his sensible youngest daughter, Gu Lang's eyes welled up with tears, "Xue'er is really our family's lucky star."

Everyone found some firewood to add to the fire that the bad guys had just built. They put the kudzu root between branches and placed it into the burning ashes. Soon, a unique grassy fragrance wafted out.

The whole family ate with relish. Hui Niang seemed to have learned her lesson and took the initiative to help Wang pat the ash off her body.

Wang was a generous person, so she didn't bother with her.

But the warm atmosphere did not last long. Wang frowned, covered her stomach and cried.

"Alang, I, my stomach hurts."

Gu Lang was startled and quickly supported her: "Lie down and rest."

But after lying down, not only did the condition not improve, Wang's moans became even louder.

Hui Niang threw away the remaining Pueraria root and said, "Oh, I'm afraid this will upset my stomach!"

Gu Feixue frowned and calmly grabbed her wrist.

The pulse was felt through the fingertips, but it was strong and powerful, not like malaria.

By the way, since the X-ray vision can see the ground, can it also see the inside of a person?

Gu Feixue hesitated for a moment, but still concentrated and used her ability.

Sure enough, through the thin clothes, Gu Feixue saw the flesh and blood inside Wang.

What was shocking was that there were three black needles inserted straight into Wang's lower abdomen!

Not caring whether it was weird or not, Gu Feixue shook Gu Lang who was anxiously holding his wife.

"Dad, Mom might have a stomachache. Hurry up and take my brother to help us. Grandma and I will take care of Mom."

Gu Lang didn't doubt it, nodded quickly, and pulled Gu Tingchuan to keep watch.

Under the surprised gaze of Old Madam Gu, Gu Feixue lifted Wang's clothes and gently pressed her lower abdomen.

A little bit of the silver needle tail was revealed.

Madam Gu was horrified: "Xue'er! What is this?"

A cold light flashed in Gu Feixue's eyes.

She pulled out the silver needle and took Wang's pulse again, and found that in such a short period of time, Wang's heartbeat had actually increased a lot.

Her face darkened.

The needle is poisonous.

She quickly squeezed out as much venom as possible from the needle hole with her hands, and asked her grandmother to smash the detoxifying herbs with a stone to extract the juice and feed it to Wang.

The poison in the needle probably had a paralyzing effect, which is why Wang fell into the trap without anyone noticing.

Thinking of Hui Niang's flattering actions just now, Gu Feixue's eyes were filled with gloom.

As soon as the two of them settled Wang, Gu Feixue walked out and looked at Hui Niang beside her.

Accompanied by a headache, the thing on the sole of the shoe gradually appeared in front of Gu Feixue.

A row of silver needles.

Oh.

Gu Feixue's eyes became even colder.

Seeing Gu Feixue coming out, Gu Lang hurried forward to ask: "How is Qianniang?"

Gu Feixue took out three poison needles wrapped in cloth and held them in front of Gu Lang.

"Mom is already well, but Xue'er found this in Mom's belly!"

Gu Lang was stunned.

After a long while, he finally said in a deep voice, "Who would do such a thing..."

Gu Feixue glanced over and saw Hui Niang looking hesitant, as if preparing to escape. She flipped her wrist and the chain flew out, tightly binding her calves.

Hui Niang fell to the ground, and her embroidered shoes fell off, revealing the silver needle inside.

"You bastard!"

Gu Lang suddenly became furious and rushed over and slapped Hui Niang hard.

"Hui Niang, I treated you well, yet you, as a concubine, actually plotted to murder the mistress!"

Hui Niang was so frightened that she burst into tears. After a long time, she dared to defend herself: "Master! Hui Niang was exiled with you. How could Hui Niang have such a dangerous thing?"

Gu Lang showed a hint of hesitation on his face. Hui Niang was indeed a very dutiful person in normal times. If he had not seen it with his own eyes, he would not have suspected Hui Niang.

Seeing his expression soften, Hui Niang continued to cry, "This needle is so dangerous, why did I put it in my shoe? If I got pricked, wouldn't I also be..."

Halfway through her speech, she burst into tears again.

After hearing her crying like that, and since there was no way to prove that the needle in her shoe was not put there by someone else, although Gu Lang still had doubts, he mostly believed it.

"Well, get up now."

He glanced at the crying woman on the ground, feeling a little irritated. "We should all work together as a family to overcome this difficult time. Let's not cause any more trouble!"

Tsk.

Gu Feixue frowned.

Anyway, a little concubine wouldn't cause any big trouble, so she just had to keep a close eye on her.

After Wang slept all night, her stomachache went away.

After discussion, everyone decided to follow the refugees first, which would at least be safer overall.

But Gu Lang was still a little worried. If the court didn't receive a reply to the reports from these officials, they would definitely think that they were fleeing for fear of punishment. Then... who knows what to do!

Gu Feixue didn't have time to think about this. What she was more concerned about now was a strange person in the refugee group.

The man was wearing a blue cloth jacket that was not in any way torn, and he looked a little out of place among the refugees.

Every time Gu Lang looked over there unintentionally, he would quickly look away and pretend to look somewhere else.

But once Gu Lang looked away, those dark eyes would fall on her again.

Gu Feixue frowned slightly.

There's something strange.

As the sun set, the refugees camped by a river that had not yet dried up.

Gu Lang put out the bonfire, and the whole family slept together.

Gu Feixue was really not used to being hugged, so she took the initiative to sleep at the edge, and sneaked out while Wang was asleep.

This is comfortable.

Gu Feixue sat up and slowly fell asleep.

A breeze blew, and a cluster of dark clouds floated over the treetops, gently obscuring the brilliance of the full moon.

A skinny hand covered with calluses stretched out from the dark night and quietly touched Gu Feixue's soft black hair.
