After a Saturday spent lying around with a sore back and a Sunday of binge eating, Xia Wenxi officially started her new school year.
The first class is at nine in the morning, but because Xia Wenxi left home, she experienced having to attend class at eight again.
However, the excitement of returning to campus overcame her sleepiness, and Xia Wenxi got up smoothly today.
But there was no time to eat breakfast slowly. Fortunately, she had Aunt Li, who prepared a deluxe handmade jianbing guozi (takeaway version) for her so she could just grab it and go.
"Xiao Bao, if you have class in the morning, you can stay there the night before so you can sleep in a little longer in the morning."
As Ke Shurong saw her daughter off, she couldn't help but give her some words of advice.
Xia Wenxi nodded in agreement, then waved to her parents, "I will, Mom. You and Dad go ahead with your work, I'm off."
With Xia Wensheng and Minghuan's wedding less than a month away, Ke Shurong and Xia Hengyuan were quite busy.
While wedding planning companies handle the wedding venue and procedures, they cannot arrange the wedding banquet and guests.
Besides, it's their son's wedding after all, and it feels like they're not taking it seriously enough to leave such a thing to someone else. If they were both busy with work, it would be fine, but now they're both free and have nothing to do anyway.
Xia Wenxi finished a deluxe pancake before even arriving at school, but she didn't dare use her phone, afraid that the pancake she had just swallowed would come back up.
I could only stand there blankly until I got to school.
Thinking about today being the first day of class, I know the teacher will probably ask us to introduce ourselves, which is practically hell for me.
When Xia Wenxi arrived at the classroom, it was still a little over ten minutes before nine o'clock. There were only four people in the classroom at that time, two boys and two girls. Xia Wenxi guessed that they must be roommates, so they were already familiar with each other and were sitting together talking.
After Xia Wenxi entered, the group fell silent for a moment. Then, one of the girls said to Xia Wenxi, "You must be Xia Wenxi. I've seen you on Weibo."
Xia Wenxi had no answer to this and could only give an awkward smile.
However, that Weibo post wasn't widely circulated back then; unless you surf the internet daily or specifically search for it, you probably wouldn't see it. So when she said that, the other three seemed quite surprised, and one of them even asked if she was an internet celebrity.
Xia Wenxi could only continue to awkwardly shake her head and say that she wasn't.
Fortunately, the other four people from the same major arrived at that time. The four of them seemed to know each other very well, and you could hear them laughing and talking even before they entered the room.
There are only nine people in total, and they have all arrived now.
Before she had even sat down for two minutes, the teacher arrived. Just as Xia Wenxi had expected, the first thing she did was introduce herself.
Xia Wenxi then realized that the four classmates who came later were roommates during their undergraduate years, which explained why they seemed to know each other so well.
When it was Xia Wenxi's turn, she simply said, "It's nice to meet Professor You and all the students. My name is Xia Wenxi, and I majored in economics and management at this university."
After listening, the teacher chuckled and said, "Literature is a poor subject, while Xia Wenxi studied economics as an undergraduate. That's quite a leap."
"Teacher, don't you know? Xia Wenxi's family owns a big company. She must have come here for her ideals."
The one speaking was the same girl who had started talking to Xia Wenxi at the beginning.
However, the teacher didn't comment on what she said, but instead smiled and asked her to continue with her self-introduction, "Why did you choose this major?"
This girl is probably an E-level E. She gave a long self-introduction, which can be summarized as her studying this major for her ideals.
The two boys behind them form a control group.
Another student spoke at length, saying that he had taken the entrance exam for several years before finally getting into this school. He even recited a poem expressing his ideals, showing that he truly loved the subject and was a pure idealist.
The other one said very little, only stating his name and nothing else, being extremely concise with his words.
There was only one teacher teaching the whole morning, and overall it was relaxed and enjoyable. The subject matter was ancient Chinese mythology, which was very interesting.
The afternoon was a general education class, and the entire college attended together. With so many people, there was no need for self-introductions, which made Xia Wenxi breathe a sigh of relief.
"Wenxi, do you want to go out for lunch together?"
"No, I have lunch with a friend, so I won't be joining you."
"Oh~ your boyfriend?"
"No. It was my college roommate."
On the first day of formal classes, they had already made plans to have dinner together.
"Alright then, see you this afternoon."
See you this afternoon.
The group waved to each other and said goodbye downstairs in the teaching building.
At first we weren't familiar with each other, but now we're being extremely polite to each other.
During the meal, Zhang Jiayi and Li Mengting naturally asked her about her first day of class. Xia Wenxi replied with the same four words: "It was quite interesting."
"And what about your classmates? Are they easy to get along with?"
"It felt alright. It was the first day we met, and everyone was very polite."
Zhang Jiayi nodded upon hearing this, "That's true. Since you're switching majors, you definitely don't know anyone. On our first day of school, it felt like most of the students in the class knew each other."
"I estimate that they should be familiar with it after a week of classes."
Since there was still some time between lunch and afternoon classes, Xia Wenxi simply followed the two back to their dormitory. They shared a dormitory, so Xia Wenxi wouldn't have to worry about disturbing the others.
"The dormitory environment is quite nice."
The double room had its own bathroom, but Xia Wenxi was actually a little disappointed. She regretted that she had never encountered a dormitory with such conditions during her school years, except for the experience of passionately staring at large rats and cockroaches in the public toilet.
Zhang Jiayi joked, "We just finished renovating, so we've caught a lucky break."
The afternoon classes were uneventful, and she even felt a little sleepy. Unfortunately, she arrived late and didn't get a seat, so only the first few rows were available. Under the teacher's watchful eye, she had no choice but to stay awake and immediately felt like she was back in high school.
So after class, Xia Wenxi took a taxi straight to Lin Shen's company, where they had arranged to have dinner together that evening.
The first thing Xia Wenxi said after entering his office was, "I'm going to go inside and take a nap."
Then, without looking back, he went into the lounge and lay down.
Before Lin Shen could even speak, he could only smile, close the door for her, and go back to his work.
Xia Wenxi was then woken up by Lin Shen.
"Are you off work?"
"There's still more than half an hour left. Take this time to clear your head. If you sleep too much, you won't be able to sleep at night and you'll be tired tomorrow."
Lin Shen held her in his arms and stroked her hair gently.
"Stop touching it, you're making my hair oily and I'll have to wash it again tonight."
Seeing her listless appearance, Lin Shen couldn't help but laugh and say, "Is going to school so tiring?"
