Jin Wenyao: [If temples were truly effective, why would anyone pray for romance? Wouldn't it be better to just pray for wealth?]
After getting on the bus, Xia Wenxi smiled and put away her phone. Every time she looked at her phone on the bus, she would feel nauseous after a short while.
Unable to use her phone and having forgotten to bring her earphones, Xia Wenxi could only quietly watch the street scene outside the car window.
The rapidly receding houses, pedestrians, and trees outside the car window gave her a sense of disorientation, as if she didn't know where she was.
Fruit shops displaying fruit on the street, an elderly woman with curly hair holding a plush toy dog, an old man carrying a bank bag, signs reminding people to slow down when passing school zones, and the clear blue sky and bright afternoon sun.
All of this made her wonder where she really was.
Is it virtual? Or real?
Does she truly exist in this world?
"Hey little sister! I can't drive into the place you want to go. Can I drop you off at the intersection?"
The driver's words interrupted Xia Wenxi's thoughts.
"Sure, just park wherever is convenient for you."
There was a security guard at the entrance of the "community", but he recognized her and let her through directly. He even asked if she needed their car to give her a ride, but Xia Wenxi thought the scenery was nice and decided to walk around by herself, so she declined.
I regretted it after walking only a few hundred meters. It's called a residential area, but there are actually only a few buildings inside. The buildings seem to be miles apart. I used to come back by car and never realized that it was so far from the entrance!
Just as Xia Wenxi was debating whether to continue forward or go back to ask the security guard for help, she heard the horn of a car behind her.
