Before he knew it, Shen Bei'an felt himself being embraced by something. He smelled the familiar scent of white nanmu wood and subconsciously moved closer. "Sleep, baby."
The next morning, when Shen Beian got up, he happened to run into Gu Nanyan, who had just finished exercising and washing up, as he took clothes out of the dressing room for him.
"You're awake, An'an?" Gu Nanyan put his clothes aside. "Go wash up first, I'll fold the blankets."
"Okay." Shen Bei'an got up groggily and walked towards the washroom.
After Shen Bei'an came out of the washroom, Gu Nan'an helped him change his clothes, and the two went downstairs to have breakfast.
Shen Beian was still a little groggy after washing up. He bit into a crab roe soup dumpling and sucked on the broth. Suddenly, Shen Beian's eyes widened as he looked at Gu Nanyan, who was sitting next to him peeling an egg for him. "By the way, what exactly happened last night? Why was Lu Er kidnapped by the Qin family?"
Shen Bei'an really had no idea about the distribution of these forces in the capital.
The beautiful woman slowly and deliberately peeled an egg with her slender, well-defined hands, placing a perfectly intact mountain egg on the small dish in front of Shen Bei'an. "It's nothing. A while ago, Ziqian and his group dealt with a scoundrel. The people behind that scoundrel were unhappy and, together with people they had prepared in the capital, planned to teach Ziqian and his group a lesson. Coincidentally, they had an informant in Lu Er's family whom they had found beforehand, so they took care of Lu Er directly. It's nothing serious; Lu Er will be fine."
Gu Nanyan's gentle and mild voice lightly described the thrilling turmoil of last night.
Shen Bei'an heard something that sounded like a mirage, but he understood it to some extent.
In conclusion, Lu Er was tricked.
And now they're inside, but nothing's wrong. They're probably having good food and drinks inside.
"Then, what about Xiao Yezi..." Shen Bei'an asked hesitantly, unsure if his wife knew anything about it.
"It's alright, the two of them are at Tingxiang Pavilion, nothing serious has happened." Gu Nanyan was also eating his breakfast.
Tingxiang Pavilion?
Isn't that similar to an embassy?
One can only say he truly is a young master from a prominent family.
He got into trouble, and although he was wrongly accused, he didn't even have to go to jail. His wife even went with him to such a nice place.

Shen Beian opened his mouth slightly, feeling that the crab roe soup dumplings he was holding with his chopsticks no longer smelled good, and they were coming one after another.
“What if you go in…” Shen Bei’an blurted out, just in time to meet Gu Nan’an’s phoenix eyes, which seemed to be smiling but not smiling.
No, no, what are you thinking!
His wife is such a law-abiding person, how could she possibly go to jail!
"Don't take it seriously, don't take it seriously, I was just saying it casually!" Shen Bei'an said in a flattering tone, picking up a soup dumpling and holding it to Gu Nan'an's mouth. "Try it! Aunt Wang's crab roe soup dumplings are so delicious today! They're tender and juicy, and they feel just like the extra-large crab roe soup dumplings that were air-shipped from Xihua City last time!"
Gu Nanyan took a bite, and the broth burst in his mouth, releasing a rich crab roe flavor.
"No, for An'an's sake, I will naturally abide by the law, and so will the Gu family." Gu Nanyan raised his hand and pinched Chen Bei'an's little face. "In short, there's no need to worry too much. It won't be long."
"What about the He family?" The He family's matter hasn't been resolved yet after the New Year.
Shen Beian continued to ask questions, and so much had happened in just over a month.

The He family was, after all, his second brother-in-law's family, but when he returned home, his second brother-in-law didn't look particularly haggard; he looked no different than before.
His family didn't say much, and what made him even more curious was whether the He family really hadn't gone to see his second brother-in-law.
"The He family?" Gu Nanyan raised his chin, gesturing for Shen Beian to eat the egg. Shen Beian sighed, picked up the egg, and ate it in small bites.
Gu Nanyan handed the milk over again.
And so, it wasn't until Shen Bei'an finished eating the mountain egg with milk that Gu Nan'an spoke, "The He family will be fine for the time being."
Shen Beian keenly noticed that Gu Nanyan said "temporarily".
"So you're using the He family for your own purposes?" He felt that the capital city was like a giant chessboard, and his wife and the others were the players, but he didn't know who the other side was.
Gu Nanyan smiled, his phoenix eyes tilting upwards, full of tenderness and love, "It wasn't me, it was Zili. These things have absolutely nothing to do with me."
She took a slow sip of milk, her back straight, as if it were truly none of her business.
Shen Bei'an finally managed to swallow the last bite of egg, biting his lower lip with his pearly teeth. It's no wonder he was curious; he genuinely didn't believe it.
"Of course, there are also Ziqian and the others. They have little to do with me, someone who has long since retired. All I can do is occasionally help them when they need it. After all, they are classmates, so it doesn't hurt to lend a hand," Gu Nanyan continued.
The sun is shining brightly outside; it's a beautiful sunny day.
